So God sends his people a prophet… name of Ellen, and it’s cool for awhile, but then it starts to get irritating. Here is what I think is happening.

God sends his people a prophet… name of Isaiah, and it’s cool for awhile, but then it starts to get irritating.

And he teaches that Moses was a righteous man. And that Moses was a prophet too, and that if God’s people had just followed Moses’ writings that he, Isaiah, would not have been needed.

So some of God’s people said, “Well then, we are just going to follow the teachings of Moses and we don’t need you!” So they put him in a hollow log and sawed it in two, by hand, which takes a long time, especially when the intestines get tangled up in the teeth of the saw and some of the bones are harder than the wood.

And Ellen teaches that Isaiah was a righteous man. And that Isaiah was a prophet too, and that if God’s people had just followed Isaiah’s writings that she, Ellen, would not have been needed. You can read about that in No. 20, pages 42-49.

So some of God’s people said, “Well, we are just going to follow the teachings of Isaiah and we don’t need you!” These are “the bible only” people. In essence, they are denying that the Spirit of Prophecy is from God. If Ellen were the author then anyone could ignore it without consequence. After all, she was not well educated, was no mental giant, and, most importantly, was not God.

I have a couple of books by Ralph Waldo Emerson containing most of his essays. I’m not sure; just checked, they have no date of publication. I would guess, probably about the 1940s for the publication of this set. In some circles Ralph’s works are much esteemed.

Just to draw the comparison, looking at the difference between Ralph’s essays and the SOP in the SDA church, I would have to say they are both esteemed about the same by all. That is to say, many may have heard the name, but, so what? Some like one and some the other, yet they are both treated about the same; human writings.

As with everything else, there are some who are the fans. I used to be a fan of Emerson. Studied his writings more than the Bible, certainly more than the SOP. However, it’s been years since I even looked at Emerson’s books. Everything, and especially everything dealing with such philosophy, is from the world, contains the world’s ideas, shapes the world’s thoughts, and generally prepares the mind to reject God and his plan. Think of it as being Greekie, 1 Corinthians 1:23.

Most people in the SDA church treat the SOP exactly that way. Mostly it’s because the world has got them. Secondly, it’s the counterfeit, so God is not drawing them like he does with the authentic. There is no charm for them for the truth, because the Holy Ghost is not instructing them through those works.

God does nothing in partnership with Satan. p. 129, Para. 1,[27OT].

For a few, they believe and read, but Satan has his own charm to comfort them with as they read the counterfeit. As a result they do not see such things as page 568 in the Desire of Ages, tenth line up from the bottom, where it is declared that Christ is in the holy place, not the most holy. They just can not see it.

But they sure don’t want the original writings! “Beats all I have ever seen” is the saying that comes to mind. And the question is, “Why would you not want all the Spirit of Prophecy you could get your hands on?” Oh well, you have to just shake your head and move on. Keep looking for the “poor, hungry, scattered sheep.” The Present Truth, No. 8, page 70. (or page 64, old edition)

From what I now know, Christ could come this year. Best you get ready. Get right with God. Make sure all your sins are confessed or they will not be blotted out of the book and you will be, finally, outside the City. Now is the time to prepare. We are not told when Christ is coming because of the human tendency to put-it-off. Get ready now! Delay is not okay!

God Bless your study
