James White, as the husband-protector of Ellen AND the authentic Spirit of Prophecy, has said many things, which, if incorporated by teaching, would certainly do it’s part in safeguarding many a saint on the strait and narrow path to the City. Many are the pitfalls God, through James, has identified for the church, “yet they would not hear.”

In total opposition to what James wrote, Willie writes and puts Ellen’s name on it!

The prayer of Christ to His Father, contained in the seventeenth chapter of John, is to be our church creed. It shows us that our difference and disunion are dishonoring to God. Read the whole chapter, verse by verse.– Manuscript 12, 1899. 3SM 21.1

I’m sure Willie thought it was right, but wow! what a clutz! James has a lot different approach! as you will see here.

The object of the gifts, as stated by Paul, was “for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come in the unity of the faith.” But they have been superseded in the popular churches by human creeds, which have failed to secure scriptural unity. It has been truly said, “The American people are a nation of lords.” In a land of boasted freedom of thought and of conscience, like ours, church force cannot produce unity; but has caused divisions, and has given rise to religious sects and parties almost innumerable. Creed and church force have been called to the rescue in vain.

The remedy, however, for this deplorable evil is found in the proper use of the simple organization and church order set forth in the New-Testament Scriptures, and in the means Christ has ordained for the unity and perfection of the church. We affirm that there is not a single apology in all the book of God for disharmony of sentiment or spirit in the church. The means are ample to secure the high standard of unity expressed in the New Testament. Christ prayed that his people might be one, as he was one with his Father. John 17. And Paul appeals to the church at Corinth in these emphatic words: “Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.” 1Cor.1:10. “Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be like-minded one toward another according to Christ Jesus, that ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Rom.15:5,6. The gifts were given to secure this state of unity.

But the popular churches have introduced another means of preserving unity, namely, human creeds. These creeds secure a sort of unity to each denomination; but they have all proved inefficient, as appears from the New Schools and Reformed of almost every creed-bound denomination under heaven. Hence the many kinds of Baptists, of Presbyterians, of Methodists, and of others. There is not an excuse for this state of things anywhere to be found in the book of God. These sects are not on the foundation of unity laid by Jesus Christ, and taught by Paul, the wise master-builder. And the smaller sects who reject human creeds, professing to take the Bible as their rule of faith and practice, yet rejecting the gifts, are not a whit better off. In these perilous times they shake to fragments, yet cry, The Bible! the Bible! We, too, would exalt the Bible, and would say to those who would represent us as taking the gifts instead of the Bible, that we are not satisfied with a part of the sacred volume, but claim as ours the Bible, the whole Bible, the gifts and all.

All the denominations cannot be right, and it may not be wrong to suppose that no one of them is right on all points of faith. To show that they cannot have their creeds and the gifts too, that creeds shut out the gifts, we will suppose that God, through chosen instruments taken from each sect, begins to show up the errors in the creeds of these different denominations. If they received the testimony as from Heaven, it would spoil their creeds. But would they throw them away and come out on the platform of unity taught by Christ, Paul, and Peter? Never! They would a thousand times sooner reject the humble instruments of God’s choice. It is evident that if the gifts were received, they would destroy human creeds; and that if creeds be received, they shut out the gifts. 1880 Life Sketches, pages 344-345

And since the SDA church has followed the world and created their own creed, aka, the 27 doctrines, they had to create some strong chords (1858 Great Controversy, page 147) using the counterfeit SOP.

When anyone is drawing apart from the organized body of God’s commandmentkeeping people, when he begins to weigh the church in his human scales and begins to pronounce judgment against them, then you may know that God is not leading him. He is on the wrong track. Review & Herald, November 8, 1956

Amazing what happens when once you practice to deceive….

And, just because we are not through with Selected Messages, book 3, we move into the subject of inspiration. As we examine today’s evidence there are certain things that must be understood. First we should remember Paul’s comments.

I speak not by commandment, 2 Corinthians 8:8
And herein I give my advice: 2 Corinthians 8:10

Many people understand this to mean that Paul was using his own words, his own thoughts; using other words, Paul was not inspired here, but, just giving his advise. But what does God say about this?

Every word of God is pure: Proverbs 30:5

Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God. Luke 4:4

This means that even though Paul thought he was using his own words, it really was God speaking through him, he just was not aware of it at that time. Ellen was no different.

Testimony Expressed in Her Own Words.-Although I am as dependent upon the Spirit of the Lord in writing my views as I am in receiving them, yet the words I employ in describing what I have seen are my own, unless they be those spoken to me by an angel, which I always enclose in remarks of quotation. [GENERAL CONFERENCE SESSION ACTION ON INSPIRATION: “WE BELIEVE THE LIGHT GIVEN BY GOD TO HIS SERVANTS IS BY THE ENLIGHTENMENT OF THE MIND, THUS IMPARTING THE THOUGHTS, AND NOT (EXCEPT IN RARE CASES) THE VERY WORDS IN WHICH THE IDEAS SHOULD BE EXPRESSED.”–GENERAL CONFERENCE PROCEEDINGS, REVIEW AND HERALD, NOV. 27, 1883.]–Review and Herald, Oct. 8, 1867. {3SM 49.7}

Then we have the most appropriate verse for understanding this.

For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. 2 Peter 1:21

Now the church has an official paper titled, “Methods of Bible Study.” In that paper they too quote this text from 2 Peter, BUT, they only quote the last half of the text and then presume to define for you, just what they have decided you should think about the word moved. Their definition is in the all-caps words in the above paragraph from 3SM 49.7.

But here is what they are really saying and why it is that they do not quote the first part of 2 Peter 1:21. In claiming that Ellen is “thought inspired” and then uses her own words, is to claim that she used her own will, but this the Bible forbids. 2 Peter 1:21 tells us that God is the author of what a prophet says, not the will of man. Notice this next passage.

I am just as dependent upon the Spirit of the Lord in relating or writing the vision as in having the vision. It is impossible for me to call up things which have been shown me unless the Lord brings them before me at the time that He is pleased to have me relate or write them.–Spiritual Gifts, vol. 2, pp. 292, 293. {3SM 48.4}

Here is the clincher.

The scribes of God wrote as they were dictated by the Holy Spirit, having no control of the work themselves.  p. 5, Para. 4, [26OT].

And Ellen was no different. She was God’s prophet for the saints in the time of the end.

And, let’s add one more item about the Holy Spirit.

God works through human instrumentalities; and whoever shall awaken the consciences of men, provoking them to goodworks and a real interest in the advancement of the cause of truth, does not do it of himself, but by the Spirit of God which worketh in him. p. 124, Para. 2, [29OT].

And poor, lowly you, thought you were doing something all on your own. We are the created. God is our Creator. But, somehow, some way, we forget that, at the very time we should be remembering it. And we start not believing some of the plainest things he says. Faith says to believe God, yet we listen to the whisperings of Satan’s agents.

We fear to believe that the Spirit of God is in us, working out his will in our lives.

Right close to yesterday’s quote, this was found.

Not One Heretical Sentence.--I am now looking over my diaries [SEE FOOTNOTE, P. 32.] and copies of letters written for several years back. . . . I have the most precious matter to reproduce and place before the people in testimony form. While I am able to do this work, the people must have things to revive past history, that they may see that there is one straight chain of truth, without one heretical sentence, in that which I have written. This, I am instructed, is to be a living letter to all in regard to my faith.–Letter 329a, 1905. {3SM 52.2}

This ‘statement’ flies in the face of those who want to scream “CONTEXT!” at every lie published in the SOP-his-try (sophistry)  of Satan, the counterfeit SOP. The reason is because those sentences are heretical!

Let’s take the Desire of Ages,

page 568, ten lines up from the bottom of the page, the heretical sentence reads, “He [Christ] is to-day [sic.] standing at the altar of incense, presenting before God the prayers of those who desire His help.”

This sentence is heretical because it places Christ in the Holy place, not the Most Holy! This sentence can never stand on it’s own, it requires an army of explainers, creating a word-cloud of darkness to obscure, to make it even close to acceptable!

page 790, fourteen lines up from the bottom of the page, the heretical sentence reads,  “He [Christ] ascended to the heavenly courts, and from God Himself heard the assurance that His atonement for the sins of men had been ample, that through His blood all might gain eternal life.”

page 819, ten lines up from the bottom of the page, the heretical sentence reads, “The conditions of the atonement had been fulfilled; the work for which He [Christ] came to this world had been accomplished.”

These two heretical sentences prove that the writer of the book is making a claim that the atonement was completed on the cross. This false, blasphemous claim can easily be proven by asking some simple questions.

1.) If the atonement was made on Calvary, by whom was it made? The making of the atonement is the work of a Priest; but who officiated on Calvary? Roman soldiers and wicked Jews.

2.) The slaying of the victim was not making the atonement; the sinner slew the victim, Lev. 4: 1-4, 13-15, &c., after that the Priest took the blood and made the atonement. Lev. 4: 5-12, 16-21.

3.) Christ was the appointed High Priest to make the atonement, and he certainly could not have acted in that capacity till after his resurrection, and we have no record of his doing any thing on earth after his resurrection, which could be called the atonement.

4.) The atonement was made in the Sanctuary, but Calvary was not such a place.

5.) He could not, according to Heb. 8: 4, make the atonement while on earth. “If he were on earth, he should not be a Priest.” The Levitical was the earthly priesthood; the Divine, the heavenly.

6.) Therefore, He did not begin the work of making the atonement, whatever the nature of that work may be, till after His ascension, when by His own blood He entered His heavenly Sanctuary for us.

(These are the very questions and answers O.R.L.Crosier put in his article THE LAW OF MOSES, and was published in The Day-Star Extra, February 7, 1846. Which God endorsed through his prophet Ellen, in A Word to the Little Flock, page 12, and is proof positive that the SDA church is not walking in the light of the Midnight Cry.)

Then, to add blasphemous insult to blasphemous injury, not far away is this quote.

b. The Conflict of the Ages Books: Sister White is not the originator of these books. They contain the instruction that during her lifework God has been giving her. They contain the precious, comforting light that God has graciously given His servant to be given to the world.–Colporteur Ministry, p. 125. {3SM 50.4}

They are claiming that God is the author of these heretical sentences!

Better prove all things!

I am exasperated! There is a constant stream of vomit and filthiness that must be waded through to get the truth in researching the authentic Spirit of Prophecy vs the counterfeit SOP. I sometimes feel like I have jumped into a septic tank that must be bailed out by hand!!! Gross, YES!!! Sometimes necessary. Lord have mercy and give me strength to swim this filthy tide!

In picking up Questions on the Sealing Message, by J. N. Loughborough, published 1916, to check something else, my eyes fell upon these lines, page 18, which were highlighted.

If there is still a doubt of the resurrected Sabbath keepers’ being numbered with the 144,000, consider the following from Sister White’s words in 1909. At the General Conference in 1909, Elder Irwin had a stenographer accompany him in a call upon Sister White. He wished to ask her some questions, and have an exact copy of the words of the replies.
Among other questions was this one: “Will those who have died in the message be among the 144,000?” In reply, Sister White said: “Oh, yes, I those who have died in the faith will be among the 144,000. I am clear on that matter.” These were the exact words of question and answer, as Brother Irwin permitted me to copy from his stenographer’s report.

Previous to this I had not put much weight on this information, because we have The Day-Star and the 1858 Great Controversy, page 205, which, when combined, show clearly that all those who hear the voice of the Father giving the day and hour of Jesus coming and watch him come to this earth are, in fact, the 144,000, there are no others present.

After reading Loughborough’s comments today, I decided to see if Elder Irwin’s notes might be available on the White Estate CD. In checking this, I found the muck! and that is what I hate about doing this research. I feel dirty handling this junk! Here is what was found.

e. The Interviews: He [Elder G. A. Irwin] has with him a little notebook in which he has noted down perplexing questions which he brings before me, and if I have any light upon these points, I write it out for the benefit of our people, not only in America but in this country [Australia].–Letter 96, 1899. {3SM 51.1}
f. When There Was No Light: I have no light on the subject [as to just who would constitute the 144,000]. . . . Please tell my brethren that I have nothing presented before me regarding the circumstances concerning which they write, and I can set before them only that which has been presented to me.–Quoted in a letter by C. C. Crisler to E. E. Andross, Dec. 8, 1914. (In White Estate Document File, Number 164.) {3SM 51.2}

Let’s walk through this.

1.) Elder Irwin is getting written up in a letter dated 1899, for the exact same thing which Loughborough is describing in 1916, as having happened in 1909. So we can surmise that Irwin had a habit of doing this type of thing.

2.) Now all this is being written up in book 3 of Selected Messages. Lo, and behold! the very next item on that very page is a question about the 144,000, as to who they would be constituted of. And we have a letter (read proof here), dated December 8, 1914, of “Ellen’s” answer. “I have no light on the subject….”

3.) Just five years previous we have a highly credible report from a man who has made it a habit to ask Ellen, personally, difficult questions, and a highly credible report of the answer to one of those questions, from a man, who had only eight more years to live, but was a true pillar of the church, verified so.

But we have two “Ellens”!!!!!

God’s prophets do not speak with forked tongue!!!

This is another one of those cases where you MUST decide. You are forced to choose! You can not have it both ways!

Either Ellen was true and faithful to God, or she was not.

On this site we prove that Willie was Satan’s agent to re-write the entire authentic Spirit of Prophecy and that he took control immediately after James’ death, writing his views, his thoughts, his opinions, then putting Ellen’s name on the work as his authority it were, her work.

Most people believe the lies of the SDA church about their convenient definition of the term inspiration. As taken from the book Ellen G. White Messenger to the Remnant, by Arthur L. White, we present the official church position.

Whereas, We believe the light given by God to His servants is by the enlightenment of the mind, thus imparting the thoughts, and not (except in rare cases) the very words in which the ideas should be expressed. Page 65, bottom right column.

Well, this is interesting…. maybe these guys should have spent some time in bible study?! Here is what God says.

For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. 2 Peter 1:21

If you are choosing your own words, you are using your own will to make that choice. God specifically details exactly what is happening so that none need to err. Ellen did not speak or write using her own will. And, she was not the only one….

And he said unto them, Lodge here this night, and I will bring you word again, as the LORD shall speak unto me: and the princes of Moab abode with Balaam. Numbers 22:8
And Balaam answered and said unto the servants of Balak, If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the word of the LORD my God, to do less or more. Numbers 22:18
And God came unto Balaam at night, and said unto him, If the men come to call thee, rise up, and go with them; but yet the word which I shall say unto thee, that shalt thou do. Numbers 22:20
And the angel of the LORD said unto Balaam, Go with the men: but only the word that I shall speak unto thee, that thou shalt speak. So Balaam went with the princes of Balak. Numbers 22:35
And Balaam said unto Balak, Lo, I am come unto thee: have I now any power at all to say any thing? the word that God putteth in my mouth, that shall I speak. Numbers 22:38
And the LORD put a word in Balaam’s mouth, and said, Return unto Balak, and thus thou shalt speak. And he returned unto him, and, lo, he stood by his burnt sacrifice, he, and all the princes of Moab. And he took up his parable, and said, Balak the king of Moab hath brought me from Aram, out of the mountains of the east, saying, Come, curse me Jacob, and come, defy Israel. How shall I curse, whom God hath not cursed? or how shall I defy, whom the LORD hath not defied? For from the top of the rocks I see him, and from the hills I behold him: lo, the people shall dwell alone, and shall not be reckoned among the nations. Who can count the dust of Jacob, and the number of the fourth part of Israel? Let me die the death of the righteous, and let my last end be like his! Numbers 23:5-10

And he answered and said, Must I not take heed to speak that which the LORD hath put in my mouth? Numbers 23:12

And the LORD met Balaam, and put a word in his mouth, and said, Go again unto Balak, and say thus. And when he came to him, behold, he stood by his burnt offering, and the princes of Moab with him. And Balak said unto him, What hath the LORD spoken? And he took up his parable, and said, Rise up, Balak, and hear; hearken unto me, thou son of Zippor: God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? Behold, I have received commandment to bless: and he hath blessed; and I cannot reverse it. He hath not beheld iniquity in Jacob, neither hath he seen perverseness in Israel: the LORD his God is with him, and the shout of a king is among them. God brought them out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn. Surely there is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel: according to this time it shall be said of Jacob and of Israel, What hath God wrought! Behold, the people shall rise up as a great lion, and lift up himself as a young lion: he shall not lie down until he eat of the prey, and drink the blood of the slain. And Balak said unto Balaam, Neither curse them at all, nor bless them at all. But Balaam answered and said unto Balak, Told not I thee, saying, All that the LORD speaketh, that I must do? Numbers 23:16-26
And when Balaam saw that it pleased the LORD to bless Israel, he went not, as at other times, to seek for enchantments, but he set his face toward the wilderness. And Balaam lifted up his eyes, and he saw Israel abiding in his tents according to their tribes; and the spirit of God came upon him. And he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor hath said, and the man whose eyes are open hath said: He hath said, which heard the words of God, which saw the vision of the Almighty, falling into a trance, but having his eyes open: How goodly are thy tents, O Jacob, and thy tabernacles, O Israel! As the valleys are they spread forth, as gardens by the river’s side, as the trees of lign aloes which the LORD hath planted, and as cedar trees beside the waters. He shall pour the water out of his buckets, and his seed shall be in many waters, and his king shall be higher than Agag, and his kingdom shall be exalted. God brought him forth out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn: he shall eat up the nations his enemies, and shall break their bones, and pierce them through with his arrows. He couched, he lay down as a lion, and as a great lion: who shall stir him up? Blessed is he that blesseth thee, and cursed is he that curseth thee. And Balak’s anger was kindled against Balaam, and he smote his hands together: and Balak said unto Balaam, I called thee to curse mine enemies, and, behold, thou hast altogether blessed them these three times. Numbers 24:1-10

Balaam could only speak what God gave him to speak, and the wicked, even Balak, thought, even after three times!! that Balaam had control of himself! So here we have an evil Balaam, who is greedy for gain, who God will not allow to say anything but what God tells him to say….!! How many times do we have to have the truth repeated to us?

And a evil SDA church who is claiming that Ellen, God’s faithful messenger, God is leaving out on her own?! To be left at the mercy of her own personal education?!

Better check it out and make a decision, ‘cause things are happening all around us at an increased pace and when it comes down you don’t want to be left out. Study now while it’s easy, ‘cause hard is coming.

Christ told the parable of a certain rich man, which just may be a figure of the Laodiceans, for it is them that think they are rich in spiritual discernment, No. 23, page 12. Oftentimes in this country they are physically rich also. Here is the story.

There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;

And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.

Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father’s house: For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead. Luke 16:19-31

V e r y c a r e f u l l y… does the SDA church say, “Well, Ellen never claimed to be a prophet.” and “She called herself the Lord’s messenger.”

Yet, she was.

Any one who Christ talks to, and gives visions to, and commands to write out the same, and commands to teach his people— is a prophet.

In the parable Abraham tells this former rich man that “If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.” Yet this has happened many times over in the last days since October 23, 1844, the day the third angel’s message started with Hiram Edson’s vision in the cornfield.

I myself am witness to the same. For I was dead in sin, but God in mercy plucked me as a brand from the burning, saving my very life and now I live, as it were “one rose from the dead” “yet they would not hear[!!!]” Why would they not hear my testimony? Because they profess to love Moses but they do not the works of Moses! They profess to have a messenger from God and love to puff out the chest in pride, but they hate that very message from that very prophet!

So, they would not hear me, they will not hear you; though you too have been raised from the dead unto life.

I saw that our message was not to the shepherds who have led the flock astray, but to the poor hungry, scattered sheep. The Present Truth, No. 8, page 70.

Ellen was a prophet. God is the real author of her writings. They are not a part of the Bible but they are to give us a correct understanding of the Bible.

Bro. B—- would confuse the mind by seeking to make it appear that the light God has given through the Testimonies is an addition to the Word of God. But in this he presents it in a false light. God has seen fit in this manner to bring the minds of his people to his Word, to give them a more clear understanding of it. p. 153, Para. 1, [27OT].

We are 169 years into the patient, waiting, watching time. Now, very soon, it will be over. Could Christ come this October? You know, things can move very, very fast.

A striking example of the perfect harmony between the authentic Spirit of Prophecy and the Bible is this passage from No. 17, page 89. It points up this other tongue of Isaiah 28:11-12 is, in fact, the language of Heaven.

Oh, no! their probation was lengthened for years

that they might learn the language of Heaven,

that they might become partakers of the divine nature,

having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

The last part of the above is actually from 2 Peter 1:4, which is another evidence that God is the author of the authentic Spirit of Prophecy, not Ellen. She had not the education or mind to put things together like this.

The passage is from a larger segment which is a letter to one of Ellen’s sons and the few pages it fills are very important instruction on spiritual things, especially on developing a spiritual habit, one that you can carry with you to Heaven. You will remember, I’m sure, that character is all we can take with us….

Become a sower.

Sow a thought, Reap an act,

Sow an act, Reap a habit,

Sow a habit, Reap a character,

Sow a character, Reap a destiny.

The multi-generational patient, waiting, watching time is a severe trial for some. As I have watched people getting closer and closer to the grave, it’s as if they are striving to find the one doctrine that proves they will not die. My own father did such. I remember his thoughts about the wheat being harvested while it was standing, not fallen down, thus a person is not dead.

James White avows his conviction that he would be of that group that would watch Christ come in the clouds because he had seen the falling of the stars in 1833. He was correct that he would be a part of that group and that he would watch Christ come in the clouds of angels; he just did not know at that time that he would be called from the grave by the voice of the Father, and he would watch as Christ came in the clouds, and he would be a part of the 144,000.

Can Christ come this year? The correct answer is yes! We are going to look at some comments by James to get a better handle on this matter. We will be using some excerpts from Life Incidents.

Seventh-day Adventists have nothing to boast of. God has often reproved and chastised us for unfaithfulness. And when we have returned to him, and humbly and faithfully battle for the truth, amid reproaches and persecutions, he has greatly blessed us. Nothing is so much to be dreaded as that calm which is the result of tempering unpopular, testing truth to the ears of the people so as not to offend. Rather let the reproach come, and the storm rage, if it be the result of speaking the truth of God in love. p. 336, Para. 1, [LIFE].

As a people we have had our difficulties to surmount, our trials to bear, and our victories to gain. We are gathered from Methodists, Regular Baptists, Freewill Baptists, Seventh-day Baptists, Presbyterians, Congregationalists, Worldlings, and Infidels. We are composed of native Americans, English, Welsh, Scotch, Irish, French, Germans, Norwegians, Danes, Swedes, Poles, and others. To bring together a body composed of such material, affected more or less by the religious sentiments and forms of the several denominations, with all their national peculiarities, has called for much patient, and persevering toil. And it is by the grace of God that we are what we are. And let his name be praised that in our darkest hours, when we have humbled ourselves, he has ever come to our aid. p. 336, Para. 2, [LIFE].

From their past brief history Seventh-day Adventists may learn much as to their present work and future prospects. When in humility they have borne a decided testimony in the fear of God, their labors have been signally blessed. When they have been willing to bear the cross of present truth, and sacrifice time, convenience and means to advance the work, they have shared the approving smiles of Heaven. They have seen that nothing can keep the body in a healthy condition but the plain and pointed testimony. This will do the work of purification, either by purging their sins, or separating from them the unconsecrated and rebellious. Let the result be what it may, such testimony must be borne, or this people will fall as others have fallen. And terrible would be their fall, after having so clear light, and having had committed to them so sacred a trust as the last message of mercy to sinners. p. 336, Para. 3, [LIFE].

From the past we may also learn what to expect in the future, in the line of persecution. Satan has been angry because this people have been seeking for the “old paths,” that they might walk therein. He has been especially disturbed as they have plead for the restoration of the Sabbath, and the gifts of the Holy Spirit. If the people be taught that God is testing them upon the Sabbath, and that they should listen to the testimony of Jesus, in the spirit of prophecy, which reproves their sins, and calls on them to consecrate themselves and what they possess to the Lord, we may depend upon it, the ire of the dragon will be stirred. This we have witnessed and suffered in proportion to our faithfulness in the work. When we have borne a pointed testimony, we have been the especial objects of the wrath of the dragon; but with it have also shared largely the blessing of God. When we have been unfaithful, the dragon has been comparatively quiet, but we have suffered leanness of soul. And thus we may expect it will be for time to come. p. 337, Para. 1, [LIFE].

The position of suspense is not the most happy one. Those who wait for the return of the Lord in uncertainty as to the definite period of his second advent, are in danger of becoming restless. Hence the application of certain texts to this time, and to the people who are waiting for their Lord. “Ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.” Heb. x, 36. “Be ye also patient, stablish your hearts; for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.” James v, 8. “Here is the patience of the saints, here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.” Rev. xiv, 12. p. 337, Para. 2, [LIFE].

In such a position, how natural the often-repeated inquiry, “How long before the Lord will come?” But no definite answer can be given to this inquiry. And it is best that this question cannot be definitely answered. Definite time has answered the purpose of God. It brought the Advent people to the waiting time, requiring great patience. Throughout this entire period of the patience of the saints, the only safe position is to keep the coming of Christ ever before us, and to regulate all our acts in full view of the terrible realities of the Judgment. To put off the coming of the Lord, and view that event in the distance, and enter into the spirit of the world, would be dangerous in the extreme. It is true that there are prophecies to be fulfilled, just prior to the coming of the Lord; but their fulfillment is of such a nature that it can be realized in a short time. Unbelief may suggest that as the time has continued longer than the waiting ones expected, it may still continue many years. But saving faith takes the safe position, and views the event at the door. This fact should ever be borne in mind, that while we have no means of showing that the Lord will come at an immediate definite point, no one can prove that he may not very soon come. And while it cannot be proved that the Lord will not very soon come, I call attention to the following facts which show that the second advent cannot be a distant event. p. 338, Para. 1, [LIFE].

While we are on this topic, on the side that is, about what Willie was up to; according to rough, preliminary math, taking the number of pages the White Estate claims Ellen wrote, divided by the number of weeks she “worked,” minus the Sabbath days, dear Ellen would have been responsible for about nine pages per day, every day.

Which means that every day she skipped, the next day she would have had eighteen pages to write. Again, this is just rough math here.

Then we find this in the counterfeit SOP.

“About a year after the death of my husband, I was very feeble, and it was feared that I might live but a short time.

But all this time day by day she must have been writing,… nine pages per day.

At the Healdsburg camp meeting, I was taken into the tent where there was a large gathering of our people. I asked to be raised up from the lounged on which I was lying, and assisted to the speaker’s platform, that I might say a few words of farewell to the people. As I tried to speak, the power of God came upon me, and thrilled me through and through. Many in the congregation observed that I was weak, and that my face and hands seemed bloodless; but as I began speaking they saw the color coming into my lips and face, and knew that a miracle was being wrought in my behalf. I stood before the people healed, and spoke with freedom.

Now she is healed and all is well.

“After this experience, light was given me that the Lord had raised me up to bear testimony for Him in many countries, and that He would give me grace and strength for the work. It was also shown me that my son, W. C. White, should be my helper and counselor, and that the Lord would place on him the spirit of wisdom and of a sound mind. I was shown that the Lord would guide him, and that he would not be led away, because he would recognize the leadings and guidance of the Holy Spirit.” (1SM, p. 54)

Assuming that the first paragraph is correct, from what we know of Willie, how convenient that this paragraph appears. Not only that, but how convenient that Willie is now “once saved always saved” in the eyes of… God???

We better back up here and take another look at what is being said here. As far as I am concerned Willie is the one who wrote the whole thing. I don’t even know if Ellen actually attended that meeting or not, one year after James’ death. That aside, Willie has just created for himself a job, the controller of the Spirit of Prophecy.

Some will disagree and that is ok, but let’s go on here. According to this alleged writing of Ellen’s Willie is getting “the spirit of wisdom and of a sound mind” in addition “the Lord would guide him, and that he would not be led away.” This really is amazing. This is saying that Willie would not go into error, or we could say that he is infallible?!

Now the “contexters” would have fun with this one. Especially after what we have been through the last few days. But again, it says what it says and very clearly it says that Willie would not sin?, would not make a mistake?,led away means something???

And it goes on… “because he would recognize the leadings and guidance of the Holy Spirit.” To me all this means that at the very least Willie’s judgment could be trusted… because God is guiding him,… the Holy Spirit is guiding him and leading him.

Let’s test it.

In 1872 God had this counsel for the saints, found in No. 21, page 22-23.

And, above all, we should not with our pens advocate positions that we do not put to a practical test in our own families, upon our own tables. This is dissimulation, and a species of hypocrisy. In Michigan we can do better in leaving salt, sugar, and milk, than many who are situated in the far West, or in the far East, where there is a scarcity of fruit. There are but very few families in Battle Creek who do not use these articles upon their tables. We know that a free use of these articles is positively injurious to health, and, in many cases, we think if they were not used at all, a much better state of health would be enjoyed. At present, our burden is not upon these things. The people are so far behind that we see it is all they can bear to have us draw the line upon their injurious indulgences and stimulating narcotics. We bear positive testimony against tobacco, spirituous liquors, snuff, tea, coffee, flesh-meats, butter, spices, rich cakes, mince pies, a large amount of salt, and all exciting substances used as articles of food. p. 22, Para. 2, [21OT].

Now go back to this post on the blog and read toward the bottom of it how Ellen Willie changed their minds about what God showed to them in No. 21, page 23, quoted above. Now, it must be, that God has changed his mind, apparently, and is telling his people that  “sterilized butter was a better fat for many people than any of the vegetable oils.” This is Willie’s words as reported by the White Estate.

This begs the question, what happened? According to Willie, God didn’t give very good light to Ellen and she had to then go to man for the “clearest and best light.”

Perhaps now you will understand why we claim that Willie and his team are responsible for the counterfeit SOP. And there you will find the source for those nine pages per day of written material.

Around here we take the clear position that God is the author of the authentic Spirit of Prophecy and that every word of it can be trusted just as the Bible can be trusted. The authentic Spirit of Prophecy is not an addition to the Bible but that “God has seen fit in this manner to bring the minds of his people to his Word, to give them a more clear understanding of it.” p. 153, Para. 1, [27OT].

Stand on the proven truth alone.

We have been talking about building a church body, in man’s way, on the sand, or God’s way, on the Rock, Christ. This got me to reminiscing about when I was in the church and the things we did.

Any time you start a business you need some capital resources. You think about a location, a physical structure, parking, staffing, you starting making a list of what you need to get to your goal. We had all that.

The challenge was to grow the church.

So we hired more staff. We got an assistant pastor. You know, a good speaker. We hired a good musician. And he was very good. We spent a lot of money and after three and a half years I quit. I was done. I took a sabbatical and did not attend church anywhere.

I quit and backed away because I realized that nothing we had done really accomplished anything. We had built on the sand of man’s ways instead of God’s ways, though I did not realize that at the time.

I want to show you something.

Our Lord taught that the wheat and the tares should grow together until the harvest; and the harvest is the end of the world. And that as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be also at the coming of the Son of man. “Wide is the gate,” said our Lord, “and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction and many there be that go in thereat; because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which lendeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” Matt. 7:13,14. He does not say that the narrow way to life is to grow wider and wider till the whole world can walk in it. The scriptures plainly teach that as we approach the end, the love of many will wax cold, men will be turned from the truth to fables, so that the few who bend their lonely foot-steps in the narrow way of life will be less and less. O that honest souls, now asleep to the Lord’s coming, dreaming of the world’s conversion, would awake before sudden destruction comes upon them. Signs of the Times, 1853, by James White, page 102.

In these few words James has articulated the whole matter. People who really want to follow God’s way are very few and far between. And that is going to get worse and worse the closer we get to the end.

Not many want to build on the Rock. Get ready for it.
