Sabbath October 12, 2013

Today is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God.

Will you enter the fiery furnace?
Will you enter the Sabbath rest?
Jeremiah evidently was in that rest, as this verse testifies.

Then I said, I will not make mention of him,[the Word] nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay. Jeremiah 20:9

What an amazing text! God teaches us gently, repeating, repeating his instruction and repeating the lesson using other words, laboring to surround us with clear understandings of his will.

We learn that the phrase “I will not make mention” is the same as “nor speak any more.”

Then we have “him,” which is “the word,” which is “his name.”

And back to our lesson of days past, “his word” is “a burning fire!”

That word being “in mine heart” is the same as “shut up in my bones.”

“Weary with forbearing” is the same as “could not stay.”

It’s small wonder then that James has this to say of the Advent people.

Our object is to revive these sweet testimonies, that were written in the pure, cheering and soul-stirring spirit that attended the Advent movement from it’s commencement, hoping that many will be led to see the “old paths” clearly, and once more stand on the “ORIGINAL FAITH.”

The Lord with a powerful hand, brought the Advent people out from the bondage and corruption of the nominal churches, and they were free; but alas! how many of those free, honest and precious souls have been allured back into what is called the “ADVENT CHURCH!!”

Once the Advent lecturers, as the held forth the word of life, being filled with the Holy Ghost, spake with power, and the happy hearer was often heard to respond, amen; and, at times, shouts of praise to God would ring through the assembly. But Oh! how changed! The pure testimony is crushed, and in many Advent congregations, if one should dare to shout and praise the Lord, and “GIVE GLORY TO HIM,” as we did during the flying angel’s message, Rev. xiv, 6,7, he would be silenced as a fanatic, as having mesmerism, or some wicked spirit, and told perhaps, that all the Spirit of God there is, is the Spirit of the Word, and that God does not teach us at all, separate from the Word.

O, that all the true children had stood fast in the liberty wherewith Christ set them free in 1843, and 1844, and not been entangled in the cruel yoke of bondage. The Advent Review, Vol.1, No.1, page 112 (16, old version).

Having been buried six feet deep in formalism for the first fifty years of life, it must have been something to have witnessed whereof James speaks.

James White, as the husband-protector of Ellen AND the authentic Spirit of Prophecy, has said many things, which, if incorporated by teaching, would certainly do it’s part in safeguarding many a saint on the strait and narrow path to the City. Many are the pitfalls God, through James, has identified for the church, “yet they would not hear.”

In total opposition to what James wrote, Willie writes and puts Ellen’s name on it!

The prayer of Christ to His Father, contained in the seventeenth chapter of John, is to be our church creed. It shows us that our difference and disunion are dishonoring to God. Read the whole chapter, verse by verse.– Manuscript 12, 1899. 3SM 21.1

I’m sure Willie thought it was right, but wow! what a clutz! James has a lot different approach! as you will see here.

The object of the gifts, as stated by Paul, was “for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come in the unity of the faith.” But they have been superseded in the popular churches by human creeds, which have failed to secure scriptural unity. It has been truly said, “The American people are a nation of lords.” In a land of boasted freedom of thought and of conscience, like ours, church force cannot produce unity; but has caused divisions, and has given rise to religious sects and parties almost innumerable. Creed and church force have been called to the rescue in vain.

The remedy, however, for this deplorable evil is found in the proper use of the simple organization and church order set forth in the New-Testament Scriptures, and in the means Christ has ordained for the unity and perfection of the church. We affirm that there is not a single apology in all the book of God for disharmony of sentiment or spirit in the church. The means are ample to secure the high standard of unity expressed in the New Testament. Christ prayed that his people might be one, as he was one with his Father. John 17. And Paul appeals to the church at Corinth in these emphatic words: “Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.” 1Cor.1:10. “Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be like-minded one toward another according to Christ Jesus, that ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Rom.15:5,6. The gifts were given to secure this state of unity.

But the popular churches have introduced another means of preserving unity, namely, human creeds. These creeds secure a sort of unity to each denomination; but they have all proved inefficient, as appears from the New Schools and Reformed of almost every creed-bound denomination under heaven. Hence the many kinds of Baptists, of Presbyterians, of Methodists, and of others. There is not an excuse for this state of things anywhere to be found in the book of God. These sects are not on the foundation of unity laid by Jesus Christ, and taught by Paul, the wise master-builder. And the smaller sects who reject human creeds, professing to take the Bible as their rule of faith and practice, yet rejecting the gifts, are not a whit better off. In these perilous times they shake to fragments, yet cry, The Bible! the Bible! We, too, would exalt the Bible, and would say to those who would represent us as taking the gifts instead of the Bible, that we are not satisfied with a part of the sacred volume, but claim as ours the Bible, the whole Bible, the gifts and all.

All the denominations cannot be right, and it may not be wrong to suppose that no one of them is right on all points of faith. To show that they cannot have their creeds and the gifts too, that creeds shut out the gifts, we will suppose that God, through chosen instruments taken from each sect, begins to show up the errors in the creeds of these different denominations. If they received the testimony as from Heaven, it would spoil their creeds. But would they throw them away and come out on the platform of unity taught by Christ, Paul, and Peter? Never! They would a thousand times sooner reject the humble instruments of God’s choice. It is evident that if the gifts were received, they would destroy human creeds; and that if creeds be received, they shut out the gifts. 1880 Life Sketches, pages 344-345

And since the SDA church has followed the world and created their own creed, aka, the 27 doctrines, they had to create some strong chords (1858 Great Controversy, page 147) using the counterfeit SOP.

When anyone is drawing apart from the organized body of God’s commandmentkeeping people, when he begins to weigh the church in his human scales and begins to pronounce judgment against them, then you may know that God is not leading him. He is on the wrong track. Review & Herald, November 8, 1956

Amazing what happens when once you practice to deceive….

Sabbath October 5, 2013

It is a fearful deception to think that somehow, someway, because there are now and have been past, so many good Seventh-Day Adventists throughout the known world, there must be more than 144,000, of those exposed to this faith, who will be saved.

Currently, there are over 17 million SDAs in the world. If they were all truly converted the great controversy would have been over with long ago. Numbers will not do it. What the numbers really show is how this message has been dumbed down, changed, from what God gave to the world, to what unconverted man thinks it should be. Not counting Catholic influence.

Many claim that there are Jesuits in the church. That may be. The real point is that the members have not embraced the very thing that would keep sin and sinners out of the church— the living testimony, the voice of reproof and rebuke, the pointed testimony, it goes by a few names.

Everybody wants to look good, smell good, feel good, and have their feelings of importance stroked. This is not God’s appointed way. Here is his appointed way.

As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: Revelation 3:19

I like the way Dale Carnegie states it in his famous book, How to Win Friends and Influence People. “There is only one way under high Heaven to get anybody to anything. Did you ever stop and think of that? Yes, just one way. And that is by making the other person want to do it. Remember, there is no other way.”

He goes on to quote William James, “‘The deepest principle in human nature is the craving to be appreciated.” He didn’t speak, mind you, of the ‘wish’ or the ‘desire’ or the ‘longing’ to be appreciated. He said the ‘craving’ to be appreciated.” Dale then goes on to educate people in the arts of the ways of the world. But these are not God’s ways.

It is because the church has adopted the ways of the world that it has so many members. It is stroking this “craving” to be appreciated, using social proof, “Well, there are so many, it must be right, if I am a part of it I can be right too.” Best you take a good hard look at the past. Only eight got in the ark, only one Abraham was chosen, only one Elijah stood against apostasy, only three were thrown in the fiery furnace, only, only, only! “And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of” them all! Only a few.

Time to review some evidence.

They [the Advent people] fell all the way along the path one after another, until we heard the voice of God like many waters, which gave us the day and hour of Jesus’ coming. The Day-Star.

And now the second voice of evidence.

But there was one clear place of settled glory, from whence came the voice of God, like many waters, which shook the heavens and the earth. There was a mighty earthquake. The graves were shaken open, and those who had died in faith under the third angel’s message, keeping the Sabbath, came forth from their dusty beds, glorified, to hear the covenant of peace that God was to make with those who had kept his law. And as God spake the day and hour of Jesus’ coming, and delivered the everlasting covenant to his people,…. 1858 Great Controversy, p. 205.

From these two pieces of evidence all should be able to see that “the voice of God like many waters” calls from the grave a certain very well defined and explicitly stated group of people, for the explicit purpose of giving them “the day and hour of Jesus coming.” Then we go back to The Day-Star for a final piece of evidence.

The living saints, 144,000 in number, know and understand the voice….

Notice, that it is only after that resurrection by the voice of the Father that the saints are called “the living saints.” Of course they are living! they just got resurrected! Some of them, we know not how many, have physically gone through the time of trouble such as never was, the time of Jacob’s trouble.

We are rapidly closing in on the 169th anniversary of October 22, 1844 and because so few are walking in the light of the Midnight Cry, they reason within themselves, “There must be more than 144,000, there must be… it must be a figurative number, yes, that’s it! Those words must mean a figurative number!” And so the first lie of Satan spreads like wildfire! “Ye shall not surely die!” And this, in the face of very explicit words.

All this means that the 144,000 count started with the Sabbath message, which started with the third angel’s message, which started October 23, 1844 with the vision God gave to Hiram Edson, which proved that Christ, our high priest, went into the Most Holy place and the great antitypical Day of Atonement began. When that count is done, when the last saint is numbered and sealed, here is what happens next.

I saw angels hurrying to and fro in heaven. An angel returned from the earth with a writer’s inkhorn by his side, and reported to Jesus that his work was done, that the saints were numbered and sealed. THEN I saw Jesus, who had been ministering before the ark containing the ten commandments, throw down the censer. He raised his hands upward, and with a loud voice said, It is done. And all the angelic host laid off their crowns as Jesus made the solemn declaration, He that is unjust, let him be unjust still; and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still; and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still; and he that is holy, let him be holy still. p. 197, Para. 2, [1SG ].

There is only one numbered group of saints. The number is very explicit, “144,000 in number.” It’s taken, to date, 169 years so far, and the count is not over. This means that even fewer than 144,000 of those who have been exposed to the truth before today will be saved. All are responsible for the light they had access to. Many, many will die. You have the opportunity to become immortal. God so loved you that he gave his only Son, to die, to pay the price so that you could live, but it can only be in God’s appointed way.

Sabbath August 10, 2013

I am currently reading file No. 2 and am about half-way through. What impresses me the most is the instruction on how to be good social, as in attend a physical group of the saints, home church or otherwise, Christians. It has much to do with our social interactions.

This stands in contrast with the mindset of which I am familiar, isolation; as in being alone. There is a part of isolation we should cherish; being alone with God, in study, prayer and mediation. But when the opportunity presents itself to meet with fellow believers, it seems to be the call of duty.

Our voice should be heard praising God for his many blessings, encouraging testimonies that will build faith and trust in how solid is the Rock on which we anchor. Such social meetings are a blessing from God and every effort made to attend.

WARNING: make sure you are not in violation of God’s counsel.

I was shown the necessity of those who believe we are having the last message of mercy, being separate from those who are daily imbibing new errors. I saw that young and old should not attend their assemblies; for it is wrong to encourage them by attending their meetings while they teach error that is poisonous, and death to the soul, and teach for doctrines the commandments of men. And the influence is not good. If God has delivered us from such darkness and error, we should stand fast in the liberty wherewith he has set us free, and rejoice in the truth. God is displeased with those who go to listen to error, when they are not obliged to; for unless he sends us to these meetings, where error is forced home to the people by the power of the will, he will not keep us. The angels cease their watchful care over us, and we are left to the buffetings of the enemy, to be darkened and weakened by him, and the power of his evil angels; and the light around us becomes contaminated with the darkness. p. 45, Para. 2, [SUPCEV].

I saw that we had not time to throw away in listening to fables. Our minds should not be thus diverted; but should be occupied with the present truth, and seeking wisdom that we may obtain a more thorough knowledge of our position; that with meekness we may give a reason of our hope from the Scriptures. While the mind is occupied in hearing false doctrines, and dangerous error, pressed upon the hearers, it cannot be dwelling upon the truth which is to fit and prepare the house of Israel to stand in the day of the Lord. p. 46, Para. 1, [SUPCEV].

The warning should not be taken lightly, in considering that you are rich in spiritual discernment and so attend a meeting to “do them good.” Heed the warning from God in the above passage.

All that said, everyone should read this material. Even though it is, mostly, not authenticated, meaning that we do not have an original hardcopy, we currently understand that secretaries were hired to type out exactly what was contained in the hand-written documents; therefore we consider them to be almost a true copy, probably about the best digital copy to be had. Perchance some day access is given to the original, we can then verify content.

This will make good Sabbath reading, even as you stroll slowly on your afternoon walk.

The file No. 2 is to be found here at the top of the download page, with the other two. You can read them as your schedule permits.

Sabbath August 3, 2013

Sometimes something just fits so well…. This just happens be one of those.

Necessity of Harmony. p. 117, Para. 1, [27OT].

The Spirit of God will not abide where there is disunion and contention among believers in the truth. Even if these feelings are unexpressed they take possession of the heart and drive out the peace and love that should characterize the Christian church. They are the result of selfishness in its fullest sense. This evil may take the form of inordinate self-esteem, or an undue longing for the approbation of others, even if it is obtained undeservedly. p. 117, Para. 2, [27OT].

Self-exaltation must be renounced by those who profess to love God and keep his commandments, or they need not expect to be blessed by his divine favor. p. 117, Para. 3, [27OT].

Taking this as a single unit, knowing that every word of God’s is pure, we can state that the Spirit of God is not abiding inside the SDA church because of the disunion and contention there. This is an interesting thing. If the Spirit of God is not abiding there, what spirit is there?

Tracing this further back, we can also state that the church can not ever understand the parables that Christ taught, correctly, because they are busy with Satan’s devices.

And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ. I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able. For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men? 1 Corinthians 3:1-3

And by extension, this means that they can never enter that rest, the Sabbath rest, which is the seal.

To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; Isaiah 28:12

Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, Hebrews 4:11

If we do not enter that rest, we are not sealed; because….

This seal is the Sabbath. 1849 Broadside

How do we get that seal? Or, how do we enter that rest? Here is exactly how.

1.) Make sure you are converted, that you have repented and confessed your sins to God, not man. Do not miss this step. Christ’s righteousness only covers the sins that have been blotted out of the book, which are only the sins that have been confessed. Then you are required to be baptized. Currently God’s people are very scattered and it is extremely difficult to find one worthy to baptize another. Pray about it and leave it with God to solve. All these things the milk of the Word teaches.

2.) You MUST move on from the milk to the meat of God’s word. This is growing. Here is exactly how.

Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 1 Corinthians 2:13

All God’s words are spiritual, John 4:24, therefore, you take God’s words and use them to define God’s words. It is God’s definitions that teach you the greater depth of his word and comes close to you to teach you exactly what you need to know for victory over your trials and temptations.

This is considered to be “ridiculous” [Isaiah 33:19] by virtually all pastors and ministers, top to bottom. You should expect this from those who profess to go to God and yet they have gone to the world for instruction in the things of God. They are deceived and know it not; for they have not proven the source from which they drink. If they did, they too would discover the deception.

3.) Study Isaiah 28:9-13 together with 1 Corinthians 1:17 through 3:3 and you too will be taught of the Lord that the wisdom of this world is nothing but bad before God. Then put this together with Hebrews chapter 4 to understand that this Sabbath rest is in fact the deeper meeting with God through his word, which is Christ.

4.) Retain this rest for your armor. Keep it on by thinking of it throughout the day. Cherish the words of life in your mind, in all you do.

the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. John 6:63

Hear; for I will speak of excellent things; Proverbs 8:6

And, teach you children so they are not lost.

And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. Deuteronomy 6:7

And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. Deuteronomy 11:19

Blessed shalt thou be,
when we meet under the tree,
if not before,
for there is always more.

Wednesday July 24, 2013

We live in a very special hour of the plan of salvation. That this was fully known to the disciples is abundantly clear from their words published in the Bible under the inspiration of the Spirit. The following is a perfect example.

Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; Acts 3:19

That “times of refreshing” did come beginning October 22, 1844. We know this to be fact because God confirmed the movement of Christ into the Most Holy place on October 23, 1844 in a vision given to his church through Hiram Edson.

We know that the “times of refreshing” did come because in our study of the sanctuary service in the typical, the Day of Atonement was the day of the blotting out of the sins that had been confessed. According to the text, these two events are happening together. So we can say, since the time of the blotting out of sins has come, that means we are in the times of refreshing from the presence of the Lord.

This is intensely interesting. Much, very much of the plan of salvation is focused on this point. We need to bring in another very important text.

and this is the refreshing: Isaiah 28:12

There are sixteen verses in the Bible that us the word refresh in some form. The first two tie this word directly to the Sabbath. Exodus 23:12; 31:17 Very interesting….

And Isaiah 28:12 also says, “This is the rest.” That means that rest and refreshing are very nearly the same thing. Hebrews has something to say on this rest too.

There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief. Hebrews 4:9-11

So what is this rest? and what is this refreshing? and what is behind the word this? what is it talking about? Hebrews again has something to say about it.

For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works. Hebrews 4:4

“Oh! the Sabbath, it’s the Sabbath!” you say. Not so fast. The answer is both yes and no. It is the Sabbath on the surface, of which the other does not negate, but it is much more than the Sabbath. More from Isaiah.

For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people. To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear. But the word of the LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken. Isaiah 28:11-13

Have you heard God’s voice speak to you with stammering lips? That’s a real question. How about with another tongue? I know, SDAs are terrified of tongues. I did not write the Bible, that is just what it says. It is saying that God’s voice heard as stammering lips and another tongue is the rest and is the refreshing, BUT, they would not hear it! Why? Because it was foreign to them, it scared them, they were not familiar with it!!!

That is exactly why God says that we need to enter into this rest. We must become familiar with this refreshing. It is God’s voice, that’s what it says. Then it says, “the word of the Lord,” I think that means God’s voice, and it goes on to carefully show us in very explicit language that it must be God’s word, stacked on top of Bible text, on top of God’s word, on top of Bible text, on top of God’s voice in the authentic Spirit of Prophecy, on top of, a total of ten layers deep!!!

What is this? It is very carefully explained in the Bible.

not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 1 Corinthians 2:13-14

Right here is a big problem with Laodicea, they think they are rich in spiritual discernment, No. 23, p. 12, when the very fact that they know nothing about the true Sabbath rest and refreshing is prima facie evidence that they most certainly are not.

Better study it! Don’t be a natural man who won’t receive the things of the Spirit of God!

Friday July 12, 2013

In many parts of the world most people go to experts to solve problems. Case in point, doctors are experts in their field. Same is true of a mechanic, of course. One would not go to a doctor ask him to fix their car, nor to a mechanic to ask him to set a broken leg. This is all good sense.

Satan has got most of these same people programed the same way about their salvation. The pastor is supposed to be an expert and if you want to solve this problem of getting to Heaven, go to an expert! Right? WRONG!

When it comes to these matters, Christ has something to say.

But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren. And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven. Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ. But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant. And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted. But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in. Matthew 23:8-13

I have heard stories of pastors who have even gone so far as to tell their members that they, the pastors, would be there to intercede for people on the judgment day. This rubbish should not be believed by anyone. All are to appear before the judgment seat of God and no man will stand in the place of another. Every one will give an answer to God for himself.

But these experts are being used as a dam against a flood of honest inquiry. This is where the Greek and Hebrew experts are brought in, there to argue in favor of what their teacher taught them, but they never questioned their teachers, they never proved their teachers.

This is the false foundation that the whole world and all it’s churches have been building on for the past 169 years. Higher and higher is the bowing wall being built. In God’s providence the personal letters of Wescott and Hort have been made public and these prove the perverse and wicked intent of these men. Yet it is their work on the counterfeit New Testament that is lauded by the churches, even the SDA church, and is the false foundation.

God’s plan is much different. He speaks through Paul.

If then ye have judgments of things pertaining to this life, set them to judge who are least esteemed in the church. 1 Corinthians 6:4

In the first place, I thought we were not to judge? but I guess that is another topic for another day. But who are these that stand and want a title put to their name? Doctor so and so, or pastor, or take your pick. And when some issue comes up in the church, do they follow God’s plan? NO! They follow the world’s plan and set men full of pride to sit in judgment of spiritual matters, all for shame unto them.

God’s appointed way is the only way. There is only one way to Heaven, that is Christ.

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, John 14:6

And we are asked to follow him. So I have a question for you. If someone is not willing to follow Christ here, what is that one going to do with eternal life? Answer: live in rebellion. Which is why they will not be given eternal life. It is only for the obedient.

Continuing on with what God has to say in No. 30, page 56 and 57, this next passage brings to mind an experience I had while sitting on the church board.

We got a new pastor. Things changed, for the worst. I was giving the church treasurer a ride to church on Sabbath mornings. She began to complain about the pastor’s use of the phone and the large phone bills that were coming in.

For the most part I just listened. Finally, at her behest, I had to take action. She delivered several months of the phone bills to me and I began entering them into the computer. This was back in the days when a 286 was the hottest thing out there and software was not yet WYSIWYG. It was a challenge to say the least.

I finally got it all input into the database after about 40 hours of effort. Then it took about another 10 hours of searching for the right query to get a printout that made sense. I recruited another man to give a hand at making some calls to discover the owner of the number.

The first call I made turned out to be the pastor’s ex-wife. Turns out the man, who deliberately bought a home about 45 minutes away from the church, out of the local area, was coming to the church office to do all his personal business.

No one bothers about a few personal calls, but this man rang up several hundred dollars of personal calls. In the church world, the man gets a paycheck to pay for all his personal expenses. This use of church funds for personal expenses was over the line.

I had full discovery on a Friday, but waited till the following Sunday to face him. When I did, he was arrogant and accused me of sticking my nose into something that was not my business. I made contact with the man every day that week as he worked through the matter. Toward the end of the week he called the Conference office and got some advise—you got caught, pay up.

The church board met the following Sunday. He showed up with a check for a few hundred and more was to follow. I was made out to be the bad guy by a husband wife team who were “pillars of the church” and had started that church years ago. After that little event neither of them would give me the time of day.

In the course of time the husband went to his grave and about two or three years ago I happened to be in the local grocery store and was spotted by the wife, who turned to walk in another direction. It was one of those events where you sense something and you turn to look and catch someone looking at you. Our eyes didn’t quite meet, as she was turning her head, but the message was clear.

The course which some have pursued, in using worldly policy to accomplish their purposes, is not in harmony with the will of God. They see evils which need correcting, and instead of courageously meeting these things, they do not wish to bring down reproach upon their own head, and therefore throw the burden upon another, and let him meet the difficulties which they have shunned; and in too many cases the one who uses plain speech is made the great offender. p. 56, Para. 1, [30OT].

How many times have you seen this? Usually it’s only because someone is offended. Sometimes it’s just plain wrong that is done and somebody stands up to correct it. Like our most recent whistleblower in America, he is made out to be the bad guy.

God testified that O. R. L. Crosier wrote out the truth about the Law of Moses, also the title of his article, written out and published in The Day-Star, Extra, February 7, 1846, through Ellen in her letter of April 21, 1847 and published in A Word to the Little Flock.

Either God is a liar or men, who pick at what Crosier wrote, are liars. “God be true, but every man a liar” is where I shall stand.

Here is an excerpt which also appears in The Advent Review, No. 3, September 1850.

The atonement is the great idea of the Law, as well as the Gospel; and as the design of that of the Law was to teach us that of the Gospel, it is very important to be understood.

The atonement which the priest made for the people in connection with their daily ministration was different from that made on the tenth day of the seventh month. In making the former, they went no further than in the Holy; but to make the latter they entered the Holy of Holies — the former was made for individual cases, the latter for the whole nation of Israel collectively —

The former was made for the forgiveness of sins, the latter for blotting them out — the former could be made at any time, the latter only on the tenth day of the seventh month. Hence the former may be called the daily atonement and the latter the yearly, or the former the individual, and the latter the national atonement.

Building on what we wrote yesterday. The SDA church teach there is no sinless perfection for man before Christ’s second coming. Yet this is the lie of Satan, spouted out the instant truth is spoken, “Ye shall not surely die.”

The other lie of Satan they teach, by saying there is no sinless perfection in this life, is there is only the Holy place experience, not the Most Holy. Read again the text from Crosier. The Holy place ministration was for the forgiveness of sins, the Most Holy for blotting them out.

Satan has got the church teaching that our sins are not to be blotted out in this time, yet this is the very work that is carried on ever since October 22, 1844 and will only stop at the close of probation. This is a part of their not walking in the light of the Midnight Cry. They are trying to get to Heaven some other way than God’s appointed way. Christ’s righteousness only covers the sins that are blotted out, not un-confessed, un-forsaken sin.

All whose sins are not blotted out of the book will not be saved. All who are willing to believe whatever they are told, without checking or proving, will not be saved. No one will stumble into Heaven.

Another point this excerpt teaches is that the Holy place ministration was for individuals, the Most Holy was for God’s church corporately. This the church denies. The late Robert Wieland pushed for corporate repentance, but those in control would have no part of that. It would require too much for them to stomach, confession of sin. This alone is a major reason you must separate from the SDA church. You can not be a part of that sinful corporate body and a part of God’s true church. The SDA church would give glory to the man of sin while the true church would give glory to God , as a united corporate body; united by the truth.

Here are two witnesses to the truth.

The want of this necessary preparation will shut out the greatest portion of the young professors, for they will not labor earnestly and zealously enough to obtain that rest that remains for the people of God. They will not honestly confess their sins, that they may be pardoned and blotted out. These sins in a short time will be revealed in just their enormity. God’s eye does not slumber. He knows every sin that is hidden from mortal eye. The guilty know just what sins to confess, that their souls may be clean before God. p. 69, Para. 2, [4OT].

When Bro. C— once takes a position on the wrong side, it is not easy for him to confess he has erred. But if he can let his wrong course pass out of his mind and pass from the memory of others, and he can make some changes for the better without an open acknowledgment of his wrong, he will do so. But all these errors and unconfessed sins stand registered in Heaven, and will not be blotted out until be complies with the direction given in the Word of God: “Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed.” If Bro. C— has found another plan than that given us by our Lord, it is not a safe way, and will prove his ruin at last. This other way is ruinous to the church–ruinous to the prosperity and happiness of his family. p. 146, Para. 1, [27OT].

Saul was a very self-confident man. He probably took classes in the subject. He knew just how to act and walk and talk. He thought he was in the true church, (just like I used to think I was in the true church!) But God saw something in him that neither you nor I can see.

So God knocked Saul off his donkey and blinded him. That was quite the day! You ever have any days like that? I bet.

We know the rest of the story, as it were, but I thought to bring this to your attention today. That is the bold, red text below.

Although he took no part in casting the stones at Stephen yet he consented to his death. Saul was zealous in persecuting the church of God, hunting them, seizing them in their houses, and delivering them to those who would slay them. Satan was using Saul effectually. But God can break the Devil’s power, and set free those who are led captive by him. Saul was a learned man, and Satan was triumphantly employing his talents to help carry out his rebellion against the Son of God, and those who believed in him. But Jesus selected Saul as a chosen vessel to preach his name, to strengthen the disciples in their work, and more than fill the place of Stephen. p. 89, Para. 1, [1SG ].

If someone is responding positively to the truth, here is what it means.

No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: John 6:44

It means that God is drawing this person and has now involved you in the process. God is using you, his servant, to witness to the one drawn.

The great work which Jesus announced that he came to do was intrusted to his followers upon the earth. Christ as our head leads out in the great work of salvation, and bids us follow his example. He has given us a world-wide message. This truth must be extended to all nations, tongues, and people. Satan’s power was to be contested and he was to be overcome by Christ and also by his followers. p. 83, Para. 1, [24OT].

And again.

The Spirit of God is continually impressing the minds of men to seek for those things which alone will give peace and rest,–the higher, holier joys of Heaven. Christ, the Lord of life and glory, gave his life to redeem man from Satan’s power. Our Saviour is constantly at work. through influences seen and unseen, to attract the minds of men from the unsatisfactory pleasures of this life to the immortal future. p. 83, Para. 2, [30OT].

We have a part in this work. God does what we can not do. Remember how God sent Saul on into his real true church? That’s the way of what is left of our future.
