I was just now led to this item and so sharing with you. It is another contradiction between the authentic Spirit of Prophecy and the counterfeit.

First, the truth.

This is found in the Spirit of Prophecy, Vol.2, and we quote.

“From his childhood, Jesus conformed his life strictly to the Jewish laws.” 2SP,p.30

And a second….

“The parents of Jesus yearly visited Jerusalem, in accordance with the Jewish law. Their son, Jesus, then twelve years old, accompanied them.” 2SP,p.31

Here are the two times the following statement appears in the counterfeit SOP, which is of course, the lie.

“Christ passed through all the experiences of His childhood, youth, and manhood without the observance of ceremonial temple worship.” Mrs. E. G. White.

{BEcho, October 31, 1898 par. 7}

{RH, October 24, 1899 par. 11}

Every one must choose, believe and obey God and live, or, believe a lie and die.

In looking around at the world around us, there is much to distract as we see Satan’s agents struggling to incite war, racial strife, riot, bloodshed, death, destruction, &c. I say struggling because they are. Their goals they are not able to achieve. Reducing the population of the world in any way possible, is just not working.

World War III just is not happening.

The four angels are holding the four winds. Revelation 7:1

God is in control. The four winds will be held untill Christ gets on the cloud to leave Heaven, headed for earth. EP261 (Early Publications, page 261)

It must be a time of peace in order for the third angel to do his work. EP296 That work will end and probation will close.

If the Loud Cry is coming as the Midnight Cry, EP413, it seems reasonable that it will go, or end, also, as the Midnight Cry; meaning, that when the third angel’s work is done, God will send everyone home. The burden for sinners will be lifted and mercy’s voice will fall silent. Life Incidents,p186

Then it is that some will search for hearing God’s word, but they will not find it. Amos 8:11 Mankind’s probation will have closed… forever. Then there is an unknown period of time untill Christ takes his seat on the cloud to come to earth. EP261

Then the four angels stop holding the four winds. Then it is that Satan has full control of the wicked. Then it is that people will turn on each other with satanic fury. A rage burning in their hearts, seen in their eyes, true terror stalks the land, brother against brother, sister against sister; all the while the seven last plagues will be falling and taking their toll; for that is their purpose, to destroy man off the earth. 1858GC,p200-201&1SP,p85 (1858 Great Controversy & Spirit of Prophecy, Vol.1)

Then it is that Satan gets his way. His agents are delighted with the reduction of earth’s masses, but not with the very painful sores they bear in their bodies. Revelation 16:2 All this rage, hatred, bloodthirsty revenge, gets turned on the righteous. If they have any food, it is taken with violence. 1849 Broadside They flee. It does little good. They are followed, hunted, cornered, and mocked as the wicked prepare to slay them. 1858GC,p201-204

Now is the time to prepare for that hour. Now it is peaceful. Now it is easy to trust in God, have faith, read God’s instructions, &c. And now it is the time of testing, this patient, waiting, watching, time. TNo.16,p96 Now we are tested by little annoyances, little things that irritate, like the drag of time passing with seemingly nothing happening.

I look up at the stars, knowing this future that awaits, knowing that if time lasts longer I may go to my grave,… and see none of it; untill I get called from that grave, if I have been faithful. As I look at the stars, thinking these thoughts, I determine in my heart that I will set my face like a flint, I will be harder than adamant. Isaiah 50:7 & Ezekiel 3:9 I choose to trust in God’s word. I will PRAISE HIS NAME! when it hurts.

And here comes that irritation. Again. But I know that every time I resist evil I get stronger for the next battle. God has revealed himself to me in my life a few times. He saved me physically from death at least twice. He saved me from a besetting sin I could not overcome and get the victory on my own. I know I am a sinner. I know I am a lost man if I allow pride to grow in my life. All I have to do is look back at my life, and I know, without God’s hand in my life I would be lost.

I know that Christ is all in all for me. Without Christ I am not worthy to be a doormat in Heaven. My night cometh. I want to be found watching, faithfully. Then when Christ comes he will not say, “What, could ye not watch with me one hour?” Matthew 26:40 I know without Christ I am a lost man.

I pray to the Father that he will increase my faith, help me to die to the world and it’s devices of distraction, spiritual weaknesses, the enchanted ground. He has given me a work to do. By so doing doubtless I will grow by God’s providence, spiritually.

I heard the Robin’s evening song as even they sing God’s praise. Just a few days past I saw on the ground the feathers and the beak of a Robin that met it’s end.

I know the end is near, it’s very near. We can trust in God, even in death and through the grave. We can… trust in God.

It is a fearful deception to think that somehow, someway, because there are now and have been past, so many good Seventh-Day Adventists throughout the known world, there must be more than 144,000, of those exposed to this faith, who will be saved.

Currently, there are over 17 million SDAs in the world. If they were all truly converted the great controversy would have been over with long ago. Numbers will not do it. What the numbers really show is how this message has been dumbed down, changed, from what God gave to the world, to what unconverted man thinks it should be. Not counting Catholic influence.

Many claim that there are Jesuits in the church. That may be. The real point is that the members have not embraced the very thing that would keep sin and sinners out of the church— the living testimony, the voice of reproof and rebuke, the pointed testimony, it goes by a few names.

Everybody wants to look good, smell good, feel good, and have their feelings of importance stroked. This is not God’s appointed way. Here is his appointed way.

As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: Revelation 3:19

I like the way Dale Carnegie states it in his famous book, How to Win Friends and Influence People. “There is only one way under high Heaven to get anybody to anything. Did you ever stop and think of that? Yes, just one way. And that is by making the other person want to do it. Remember, there is no other way.”

He goes on to quote William James, “‘The deepest principle in human nature is the craving to be appreciated.” He didn’t speak, mind you, of the ‘wish’ or the ‘desire’ or the ‘longing’ to be appreciated. He said the ‘craving’ to be appreciated.” Dale then goes on to educate people in the arts of the ways of the world. But these are not God’s ways.

It is because the church has adopted the ways of the world that it has so many members. It is stroking this “craving” to be appreciated, using social proof, “Well, there are so many, it must be right, if I am a part of it I can be right too.” Best you take a good hard look at the past. Only eight got in the ark, only one Abraham was chosen, only one Elijah stood against apostasy, only three were thrown in the fiery furnace, only, only, only! “And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of” them all! Only a few.

Time to review some evidence.

They [the Advent people] fell all the way along the path one after another, until we heard the voice of God like many waters, which gave us the day and hour of Jesus’ coming. The Day-Star.

And now the second voice of evidence.

But there was one clear place of settled glory, from whence came the voice of God, like many waters, which shook the heavens and the earth. There was a mighty earthquake. The graves were shaken open, and those who had died in faith under the third angel’s message, keeping the Sabbath, came forth from their dusty beds, glorified, to hear the covenant of peace that God was to make with those who had kept his law. And as God spake the day and hour of Jesus’ coming, and delivered the everlasting covenant to his people,…. 1858 Great Controversy, p. 205.

From these two pieces of evidence all should be able to see that “the voice of God like many waters” calls from the grave a certain very well defined and explicitly stated group of people, for the explicit purpose of giving them “the day and hour of Jesus coming.” Then we go back to The Day-Star for a final piece of evidence.

The living saints, 144,000 in number, know and understand the voice….

Notice, that it is only after that resurrection by the voice of the Father that the saints are called “the living saints.” Of course they are living! they just got resurrected! Some of them, we know not how many, have physically gone through the time of trouble such as never was, the time of Jacob’s trouble.

We are rapidly closing in on the 169th anniversary of October 22, 1844 and because so few are walking in the light of the Midnight Cry, they reason within themselves, “There must be more than 144,000, there must be… it must be a figurative number, yes, that’s it! Those words must mean a figurative number!” And so the first lie of Satan spreads like wildfire! “Ye shall not surely die!” And this, in the face of very explicit words.

All this means that the 144,000 count started with the Sabbath message, which started with the third angel’s message, which started October 23, 1844 with the vision God gave to Hiram Edson, which proved that Christ, our high priest, went into the Most Holy place and the great antitypical Day of Atonement began. When that count is done, when the last saint is numbered and sealed, here is what happens next.

I saw angels hurrying to and fro in heaven. An angel returned from the earth with a writer’s inkhorn by his side, and reported to Jesus that his work was done, that the saints were numbered and sealed. THEN I saw Jesus, who had been ministering before the ark containing the ten commandments, throw down the censer. He raised his hands upward, and with a loud voice said, It is done. And all the angelic host laid off their crowns as Jesus made the solemn declaration, He that is unjust, let him be unjust still; and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still; and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still; and he that is holy, let him be holy still. p. 197, Para. 2, [1SG ].

There is only one numbered group of saints. The number is very explicit, “144,000 in number.” It’s taken, to date, 169 years so far, and the count is not over. This means that even fewer than 144,000 of those who have been exposed to the truth before today will be saved. All are responsible for the light they had access to. Many, many will die. You have the opportunity to become immortal. God so loved you that he gave his only Son, to die, to pay the price so that you could live, but it can only be in God’s appointed way.

It’s an amazing thing to me as I notice how Christ talked to the Jews.

Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things? Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? John 2:18-20

Christ did not try and tell them which words were to be spiritually understood and which were to be physically understood. Perhaps they should have understood them spiritually because what Christ said in this instance was, for man, a physical impossibility.

But he was often speaking to them in parables, dark sayings, and these stories were listened to by the masses, but they were charmed by the storyteller, not the part they didn’t understand. And Christ did not explain it to them, he let them go, the ones who wanted to, were anxious to get to bed, back to work, home in time to eat something, whatever it was, they did not ask him for an explanation.

But some did.

And when he was alone, they that were about him with the twelve asked of him the parable. And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables: Mark 4:10-11

So it was, that after the meeting some stayed, to ask. And for them, Christ explained it all. They got the mystery of the kingdom of God, they got the meat!

The real kicker to this whole thing is this, anybody could have got the same thing, it was free! for the asking!!

Here are some good questions.

How about you?
Are you willing to ask?
Are you willing to cherish what you do have now?
Why should God give you more light if you are doing nothing with what you have?
Are you just wanting some excitement?
What exactly are you doing now? spiritually?
How is this going to help you in working out your own salvation?
Is that Ok?

We live on the threshold of eternity…. With a God who so loved us that he gave his only Son to save us, so that we can become immortal, like him, and we can live together, enjoying each other, forever….

Today we have a bit of history for you. The third angel’s message began October 23, 1844 with the vision God gave to Hiram Edson as he crossed a cornfield with a friend. Here is the text of that vision as Hiram wrote it out, with some other information and his obituary.

Here is the story behind the text we have today of Hiram’s vision, given by God to his people October 23, 1844, to encourage the terribly disappointed flock.

The church has six handwritten pages on yellow notebook paper. It was written somewhere about 1865 to1874, according to best guesswork. The Youth’s Instructor is the first known church publication that references the article. A. W. Spalding, “Light on the Sanctuary,” The Youth’s Instructor, March 8,1910. These six pages are well verified as Mrs.Via Ophelia Cross, Edson’s daughter, handed it to F. M. Kelley in the spring of 1921, who later 1936 served as liaison to transfer the authentic document to L. E. Froom. There is some further speculation that there were thirty actual pages of matter with the six, which the church would not publish. If this is so, apparently, only the church knows for sure.

The Text of the Vision:
The spelling and punctuation of the manuscript have been preserved

“Heaven seemed open to my view, and I saw distinctly and clearly, that instead of our High Priest coming out of the Most Holy of the heavenly sanctuary to come to this earth on the tenth day of the seventh month, at the end of the 2300 days, that he for the first time entered on that day the second apartment of that sanctuary; and that he had a work to perform in the Most Holy before coming to this earth. That he came to the marriage at that time; in other words, to the Ancient of days to receive a kingdom, dominion, and glory; and we must wait for his return from the wedding; and my mind was directed to the tenth ch. of Rev. where I could see the vision had spoken and did not lie; the seventh angel had began [sic.] to sound; we had eaten the littl [sic.] book; it had been sweet in our mouth, and it had now become bitter in our belly, embittering our whole being. That we must prophesy again, &c., and that when the seventh angel began to sound, the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament, &c.” {all emphasis in original handwritten document, i.e., the underlined words, from the wedding; Christ is not coming as a bridegroom, but as a King of kings and Lord of lords}

Hiram Edson’s Obituary as it appears in the R&H of February 21, 1882, Vol. 59, No. 8

Note: The text is as it appears, line for line, in the R&H. The whole right edge of which was faded into black and the last letters are a guess. As in the first line, the state might be NY. We can see the “N” but not the next letter, &c.

EDSON.—Died at East Palermo, Oswego county, NJ
Jan. 8, 1882, Bro. Hiram Edson, aged seventy-five years
and nine days. Bro. Edson was a native of Jefferson
county, N. Y. He was early connected with the Advent
body, having a rich experience in connection with the
movement of. 1843-4. After the passing of the time
was among the first to receive the third angel’s message
and identify himself with the work, giving largely of his
time and means for its advancement. His devotion to
the cause, which was dearer to him than life, in its early
infancy, when its friends were few, fully entitles him to a
place among its pioneers. His name is mentioned in the
writings of Bro. and Sr. White in connection with their
earlier labors.

For six months before his death he was confined to a
bed, almost entirely helpless, and his sufferings were almost
beyond endurance. He bore them all with Christian
patience and fortitude, though earnestly praying that he
might sleep in Jesus. He leaves a wife and four married
daughters to mourn their loss. Funeral discourse by the
writer from words chosen by our brother before his
death, Rev. 14 :13. B. L. WHITNER

We stand in the gap between a physical reality and a spiritual reality. Our state of mind determines if we are IN THE WAY, blocking, hindering, obscuring, being a stone of stumbling, one of Satan’s agents, or, IN THE WAY, of Christ, following his footsteps, helping those he connects with us to see spiritually, believe the truth, reading the Word and rightly dividing it.

Judas yielded to the temptations of Satan, and betrayed his best friend. Peter learned and profited by the lessons of Christ, and carried forward the work of reform which was left to the disciples when their Lord ascended on high. These two men represent the two classes whom Christ connects with himself, giving to them the advantages of his lessons, and the example of his unselfish, compassionate life, that they may learn of him. p. 144, Para. 2, [29OT].

The more man views his Saviour, and becomes acquainted with him, the more he will become assimilated to his image, and work the works of Christ. The age in which we live calls for reformatory action. The light of truth [God’s Word] which shines [teaches] upon us calls for men of determined action, and sterling moral worth, to labor diligently and perseveringly to save the souls of all who will hear the invitation of the Spirit of God. p. 145, Para. 1, [29OT].

It thrills my soul to continually see this beautiful harmony between the authentic Spirit of Prophecy and the Bible! God has done marvelous things with his Word! By beholding our thoughts are drawn to God and he changes our thoughts to purity, that we might be prepared for translation. He changes our acts by changing our thoughts through our reading of his words; we eat the true bread of life, the flesh of Christ, John 6.

The word of God is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.” The heart preoccupied with the word of God is fortified against Satan. Those who make Christ their daily companion and familiar friend will feel that the powers of an unseen world are all around them; and by looking unto Jesus [the Word] they will become assimilated to his image. By beholding [the Word], they become changed to the divine pattern; their character is softened, refined, and ennobled for the heavenly kingdom. p. 134, Para. 1, [30OT].

Look how God repeats the same teaching using different words in this paragraph! not once, not twice, but four!! (4)!! times! Amazing!

In order for things to change I must change, I must renounce the world, their ways, practices, methods, or I will die with them. I must embrace God, his ways, practices, methods, and I shall live, a new life, a life to live forever with him. It’s a choice.

Amazing things are said in the Bible and in the authentic Spirit of Prophecy. Sometimes we need to slow down and really absorb what the individual words are saying. Perhaps the subject passage we have today is such a one. This comes to us from Original Testimony (that is the “OT” at the end of the reference) No. 25.

“Now if any man have not the spirit of Christ, he is none of his.” This is close language. Who can stand the test? The word of God is to us a daguerreotype [This word was the name used for photograph in those days.] of the mind of God and of Christ, also of man fallen, and man renewed after the image of Christ, possessing the divine mind.

The last sentence above states an amazing fact. We have been steadily examining the ideas surrounding the word word. Now we find God’s instruction plainly stating that the Bible is to us a picture “of the mind of God and of Christ!” Then it goes on to state it is a picture “of man fallen and man renewed after the image of Christ, possessing the divine mind.”

This last phrase “possessing the divine mind” tells us that “man renewed after the image of Christ” is a man who has the Word(s) of the Bible in his mind, by choice, willingly, cherishing the words of Spirit and Life, seeking how to apply those words to his own actions, that…, (look below at this next two sentences.)

We may compare our thoughts, feelings, and intentions, with the picture of Christ. We have no relationship with him unless we are willing to work the works of Christ. p. 118, Para. 1, [25OT].

…we might “work the works of Christ.” Since thought is parent to act it is imperative that we change our thoughts. We change our thoughts by the law of indirect action. We leave the undesirable thoughts as they are, unchanged, and take other, new, more desirable thoughts, and focus our mind on them. This is where God’s word comes in. We become children of the Word, living, breathing, eating, these words from God’s table, the Bible, which words are Spirit! and Life! John 6:63, and are, in fact, (spiritually, not physically) the flesh and blood of Christ! John 6:47-58.

We have all heard the saying, “You are what you eat!” And so it is! If you eat the flesh of Christ, which is the words of the Bible, and drink his blood, which is the words of the Bible, you will be “renewed after the image of Christ!” This eating of Christ’s flesh, the Word, and drinking of his blood, the Word, at God’s table, must be done with Faith and a heart to do the works. Christ’s righteousness does not do the works man can do.

Christ came to do his Father’s will. Are we following in his steps? All who have named the name of Christ should be constantly seeking for a more intimate acquaintance with him, that they may walk even as he walked, and do the works of Christ. We should appropriate the lessons of his life to our lives. “Christ gave himself for us that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people zealous of good works. Hereby perceive we the love of God; because he laid down his life for us; and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.” Here is the work of self-denial which we must enter upon with cheerfulness, in imitation of the example of our Redeemer. The Christian’s life must be one of conflict and of sacrifice. The path of duty should be followed; not the path of inclination and of choice. p. 119, Para. 1, [25OT].

Jesus said he only spoke words that the Father gave him, John 14:24. And now these follow.

I am come a light [Psalms 119:105] into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness. And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day. For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak. John 12:46-50

Oh! Beautiful! Harmony! I praise God that he, and not Ellen, is the true author of the authentic Spirit of Prophecy! She was called the weakest of the weak and that included her mental ability. Un-learned but humble in God’s sight. Willing to follow the path of duty. Someone God could use. She did not possess in herself the ability to create this harmony between the Bible and the Spirit of Prophecy. Only God could do such!

With regard to the mass of world events swirling around our heads, an interesting item has popped up. Zero Hedge (dot com) has put up a page showing that the G7 nations, as a whole, have a consolidated debt at a record high of 440%.

This is a significant data point for a reason. Historically, whenever a nation has reached the level of 250% of debt to GDP a war “breaks out.” The fact that the G7 have a 440% level of debt to GDP and we are in a time of peace is very significant.

We consider this to be proof positive that God is restraining the powers of earth to prevent WWIII, and the destruction of Billions of lives. In short, a fulfillment of this prophecy.

I saw that this world was rocked in the cradle of security so that communications might not be cut off from place to place, and that messengers might have full time to carry the message to the children of God, that they receive it and be sealed with the seal of the living God, and be prepared to pass through the time of trouble such as never was. I saw that it must be a time of peace in order for the servants of God to do their work for souls. Vision of May 14, 1851. This can be downloaded for free from our download page.

Choose file No. 3, it’s at the top of the page.

Because of this global positioning, economially, I would guess that God is doing this positioning in preparation for the loud cry. It is my opinion, that America, the home base of this message, will be ground zero for the main event, to be watched closely by the rest of the world, on TV and the net.

It is the two horned beast, No. 6, page 22, that makes Sunday a test, not the image. Therefore, America, in some form, will remain through, to the time of trouble such as never was. At that time, it matters not what happens politically, everyone is sealed, Christ is on the way, the wicked soon to lay, all glory of man in the dust of the earth for God’s glory.

Eternity is very, very near. It’s high time to be ripening for Heaven!

“And when thou art converted.”

You will remember that, that’s what Jesus told Peter. But Peter had been with the Word all this time, about three years. Why is it that he was not converted? Apparently ten of the twelve were converted.

Daniel says, “Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried.” Under the second angel’s message about 50,000 people came out of the fallen churches and waited on October 22, 1844 for Christ to come. He did not come. They were “purified, and made white, and tried,” and many of them failed the test. They left the faith. By some estimates there were only about fifty who remained faithful.

What is it in the heart of man that “I” would fail the test?

It’s amazing that Christ said this about Nathanael, “Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!” How could he say that about the man? Because he is God. God reads our hearts and knows who should be saved and who should not get the hidden words of God, the mystery of kingdom of God, Mark 4:11.

On this site we are following God’s instruction in Matthew.

There is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known. What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops. Matthew 10:26-27

You might get a lot of information, you might be witness to much, as was Simon in Acts 8, but, you might not be right with God. Remember that he reads every secret of your heart. All this might be the source of these words.

I turned to look for the Advent people in the world, but could not find them, when a voice said to me, Look again, and look a little higher. At this, I raised my eyes and see a strait and narrow path, cast up high above the world. On this path the Advent people were traveling to the City, which was at the farther end of the path. They had a bright light set up behind them at the first end of the path, which an angel told me was the Midnight Cry. This light shone all along the path and gave light for their feet so they might not stumble. And if they kept their eyes fixed on Jesus, who was just before them, leading them to the City, they were safe. But soon some grew weary, and said the City was a great way off, and they expected to have entered it before. Then Jesus would encourage them by raising his glorious right arm, and from his arm came a glorious light which waved over the Advent band, and they shouted, Hallelujah! Others rashly denied the light behind them, and said that it was not God that had led them out so far. The light behind them went out which left their feet in perfect darkness, and they stumbled and got their eyes off the mark and lost sight of Jesus, and fell off the path down in the dark and wicked world below. It was just as impossible for them to get on the path again & go to the City, as all the wicked world which God had rejected. They fell all the way along the path one after another, until we heard the voice of God like many waters, which gave us the day and hour of Jesus’ coming. The Day-Star

The words in red communicate certain things without stating them explicitly. The word “they” indicates those who profess the truth. The path is the strait and narrow way to the City, and it should be remembered that it goes all the way to the City. The falling off the path is, of course, leaving the faith.

Here is the critical point, people are falling off the path, or, leaving the faith “until we heard the voice of God.” This hearing of God’s voice happens AT the deliverance of the saints, 1858 Great Controversy, page 205. Meaning that some, apparently, will be giving up the faith during the time of trouble such as never was, the time of Jacob’s trouble. It would appear that they were not sealed even though professing the faith and going through, or nearly through, the time of trouble. God, who knows all things, knows what none of the rest of the saints knows, that is, that this person is not right with him and should not be saved.

Like Peter, they know not themselves. They withstand some trials, some of the time of trouble such as never was, some hardships, but God reads their hearts, their inner secrets, and there is no more time for character formation. If this be so, doubtless they will not suffer much in the fires of the last day. We have so much to be grateful for that God is just and righteous altogether.

Be careful with God. This is not a game, not a social club, this is real.

I have always been attracted to the story of Enoch. Can you imagine, walking with God? Which leads us to the oft’ repeated verse.

Can two walk together, except they be agreed? Amos 3:3

The obvious answer is no. The question that comes to my mind is where? where would we meet to be agreed? If we look at Christ, our example in all things, that meeting place would have to be in words and acts. Faith and works is pretty much the same thing. We have faith in the words (from the Bible) we read because we have proved them to be from God. Faith is trust; “in God we trust” is stamped on our coin.

Trust is a decision we have made, which is a thought in our minds— THIS now becomes parent to good, righteous acts. Eve, at the tree, listened to the snake talk, because she listened to his words, she was deceived into trusting those words. Now comes the child of those thoughts, an act… of disobedience. The Bible says “and when the woman saw,” meaning it took some time for the deception to sink in. And THEN she believed the fruit to be “good for food.” But it was not, as she later found out.

All Heaven mourned on account of the disobedience and fall of Adam and Eve, which brought the wrath of God upon the whole human race. They were cut off from communing with God, and were plunged in hopeless misery. The law of God could not be changed to meet man’s necessity; for in God’s arrangement it was never to lose its force, nor give up the smallest part of its claims. p. 49, Para. 2, [1SP].

To Adam in his innocency was granted communion, direct, free and happy, with his Maker. After his transgression, God would communicate to man through Christ and angels. p. 53, Para. 3, [1SP].

Communion with God was cut off. But God proved something in Enoch. God proved that he would accept man again into communion through angels.

God communed with Enoch through his angels, and gave him divine instruction. p. 60, Para. 3, [1SP].

At length he [Enoch] chose certain periods for retirement, and would not suffer the people to find him, for they interrupted his holy meditation and communion with God. He did not exclude himself at all times from the society of those who loved him and listened to his words of wisdom; neither did he separate himself wholly from the corrupt. He met with the good and bad at stated times, and labored to turn the ungodly from their evil course, and instruct them in the knowledge and fear of God. He taught those who had the knowledge of God to serve him more perfectly. He would remain with them as long as he could benefit them by his godly conversation and holy example, and then would withdraw himself from all society–from the just, the scoffing and idolatrous, to remain in solitude, hungering and thirsting for communion with God, and that divine knowledge which he [God] alone could give him. p. 62, Para. 1, [1SP].

This harkens back to the idea of personal messages from God to you. I think everyone who studies the Bible at all agrees that every time they read it they “see” something new. Is not this a personal message from God? I think so.

What is it, exactly, that we are getting? It is words— Christ, his image, from his book, the Bible.

Little wonder that there are so many references to hearing in the Bible. Hearing what? Words.

And after the close of probation, what is it that so many want and suffer for not having? Words.

Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD: Amos 8:11

Better study those words now while you have the chance. Besides, some VIP said, “they are they which testify of me.”

God Bless your Study
