So God sends his people a prophet… name of Ellen, and it’s cool for awhile, but then it starts to get irritating. Here is what I think is happening.

God sends his people a prophet… name of Isaiah, and it’s cool for awhile, but then it starts to get irritating.

And he teaches that Moses was a righteous man. And that Moses was a prophet too, and that if God’s people had just followed Moses’ writings that he, Isaiah, would not have been needed.

So some of God’s people said, “Well then, we are just going to follow the teachings of Moses and we don’t need you!” So they put him in a hollow log and sawed it in two, by hand, which takes a long time, especially when the intestines get tangled up in the teeth of the saw and some of the bones are harder than the wood.

And Ellen teaches that Isaiah was a righteous man. And that Isaiah was a prophet too, and that if God’s people had just followed Isaiah’s writings that she, Ellen, would not have been needed. You can read about that in No. 20, pages 42-49.

So some of God’s people said, “Well, we are just going to follow the teachings of Isaiah and we don’t need you!” These are “the bible only” people. In essence, they are denying that the Spirit of Prophecy is from God. If Ellen were the author then anyone could ignore it without consequence. After all, she was not well educated, was no mental giant, and, most importantly, was not God.

I have a couple of books by Ralph Waldo Emerson containing most of his essays. I’m not sure; just checked, they have no date of publication. I would guess, probably about the 1940s for the publication of this set. In some circles Ralph’s works are much esteemed.

Just to draw the comparison, looking at the difference between Ralph’s essays and the SOP in the SDA church, I would have to say they are both esteemed about the same by all. That is to say, many may have heard the name, but, so what? Some like one and some the other, yet they are both treated about the same; human writings.

As with everything else, there are some who are the fans. I used to be a fan of Emerson. Studied his writings more than the Bible, certainly more than the SOP. However, it’s been years since I even looked at Emerson’s books. Everything, and especially everything dealing with such philosophy, is from the world, contains the world’s ideas, shapes the world’s thoughts, and generally prepares the mind to reject God and his plan. Think of it as being Greekie, 1 Corinthians 1:23.

Most people in the SDA church treat the SOP exactly that way. Mostly it’s because the world has got them. Secondly, it’s the counterfeit, so God is not drawing them like he does with the authentic. There is no charm for them for the truth, because the Holy Ghost is not instructing them through those works.

God does nothing in partnership with Satan. p. 129, Para. 1,[27OT].

For a few, they believe and read, but Satan has his own charm to comfort them with as they read the counterfeit. As a result they do not see such things as page 568 in the Desire of Ages, tenth line up from the bottom, where it is declared that Christ is in the holy place, not the most holy. They just can not see it.

But they sure don’t want the original writings! “Beats all I have ever seen” is the saying that comes to mind. And the question is, “Why would you not want all the Spirit of Prophecy you could get your hands on?” Oh well, you have to just shake your head and move on. Keep looking for the “poor, hungry, scattered sheep.” The Present Truth, No. 8, page 70. (or page 64, old edition)

From what I now know, Christ could come this year. Best you get ready. Get right with God. Make sure all your sins are confessed or they will not be blotted out of the book and you will be, finally, outside the City. Now is the time to prepare. We are not told when Christ is coming because of the human tendency to put-it-off. Get ready now! Delay is not okay!

“And when thou art converted.”

You will remember that, that’s what Jesus told Peter. But Peter had been with the Word all this time, about three years. Why is it that he was not converted? Apparently ten of the twelve were converted.

Daniel says, “Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried.” Under the second angel’s message about 50,000 people came out of the fallen churches and waited on October 22, 1844 for Christ to come. He did not come. They were “purified, and made white, and tried,” and many of them failed the test. They left the faith. By some estimates there were only about fifty who remained faithful.

What is it in the heart of man that “I” would fail the test?

It’s amazing that Christ said this about Nathanael, “Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!” How could he say that about the man? Because he is God. God reads our hearts and knows who should be saved and who should not get the hidden words of God, the mystery of kingdom of God, Mark 4:11.

On this site we are following God’s instruction in Matthew.

There is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known. What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops. Matthew 10:26-27

You might get a lot of information, you might be witness to much, as was Simon in Acts 8, but, you might not be right with God. Remember that he reads every secret of your heart. All this might be the source of these words.

I turned to look for the Advent people in the world, but could not find them, when a voice said to me, Look again, and look a little higher. At this, I raised my eyes and see a strait and narrow path, cast up high above the world. On this path the Advent people were traveling to the City, which was at the farther end of the path. They had a bright light set up behind them at the first end of the path, which an angel told me was the Midnight Cry. This light shone all along the path and gave light for their feet so they might not stumble. And if they kept their eyes fixed on Jesus, who was just before them, leading them to the City, they were safe. But soon some grew weary, and said the City was a great way off, and they expected to have entered it before. Then Jesus would encourage them by raising his glorious right arm, and from his arm came a glorious light which waved over the Advent band, and they shouted, Hallelujah! Others rashly denied the light behind them, and said that it was not God that had led them out so far. The light behind them went out which left their feet in perfect darkness, and they stumbled and got their eyes off the mark and lost sight of Jesus, and fell off the path down in the dark and wicked world below. It was just as impossible for them to get on the path again & go to the City, as all the wicked world which God had rejected. They fell all the way along the path one after another, until we heard the voice of God like many waters, which gave us the day and hour of Jesus’ coming. The Day-Star

The words in red communicate certain things without stating them explicitly. The word “they” indicates those who profess the truth. The path is the strait and narrow way to the City, and it should be remembered that it goes all the way to the City. The falling off the path is, of course, leaving the faith.

Here is the critical point, people are falling off the path, or, leaving the faith “until we heard the voice of God.” This hearing of God’s voice happens AT the deliverance of the saints, 1858 Great Controversy, page 205. Meaning that some, apparently, will be giving up the faith during the time of trouble such as never was, the time of Jacob’s trouble. It would appear that they were not sealed even though professing the faith and going through, or nearly through, the time of trouble. God, who knows all things, knows what none of the rest of the saints knows, that is, that this person is not right with him and should not be saved.

Like Peter, they know not themselves. They withstand some trials, some of the time of trouble such as never was, some hardships, but God reads their hearts, their inner secrets, and there is no more time for character formation. If this be so, doubtless they will not suffer much in the fires of the last day. We have so much to be grateful for that God is just and righteous altogether.

Be careful with God. This is not a game, not a social club, this is real.

I have always been attracted to the story of Enoch. Can you imagine, walking with God? Which leads us to the oft’ repeated verse.

Can two walk together, except they be agreed? Amos 3:3

The obvious answer is no. The question that comes to my mind is where? where would we meet to be agreed? If we look at Christ, our example in all things, that meeting place would have to be in words and acts. Faith and works is pretty much the same thing. We have faith in the words (from the Bible) we read because we have proved them to be from God. Faith is trust; “in God we trust” is stamped on our coin.

Trust is a decision we have made, which is a thought in our minds— THIS now becomes parent to good, righteous acts. Eve, at the tree, listened to the snake talk, because she listened to his words, she was deceived into trusting those words. Now comes the child of those thoughts, an act… of disobedience. The Bible says “and when the woman saw,” meaning it took some time for the deception to sink in. And THEN she believed the fruit to be “good for food.” But it was not, as she later found out.

All Heaven mourned on account of the disobedience and fall of Adam and Eve, which brought the wrath of God upon the whole human race. They were cut off from communing with God, and were plunged in hopeless misery. The law of God could not be changed to meet man’s necessity; for in God’s arrangement it was never to lose its force, nor give up the smallest part of its claims. p. 49, Para. 2, [1SP].

To Adam in his innocency was granted communion, direct, free and happy, with his Maker. After his transgression, God would communicate to man through Christ and angels. p. 53, Para. 3, [1SP].

Communion with God was cut off. But God proved something in Enoch. God proved that he would accept man again into communion through angels.

God communed with Enoch through his angels, and gave him divine instruction. p. 60, Para. 3, [1SP].

At length he [Enoch] chose certain periods for retirement, and would not suffer the people to find him, for they interrupted his holy meditation and communion with God. He did not exclude himself at all times from the society of those who loved him and listened to his words of wisdom; neither did he separate himself wholly from the corrupt. He met with the good and bad at stated times, and labored to turn the ungodly from their evil course, and instruct them in the knowledge and fear of God. He taught those who had the knowledge of God to serve him more perfectly. He would remain with them as long as he could benefit them by his godly conversation and holy example, and then would withdraw himself from all society–from the just, the scoffing and idolatrous, to remain in solitude, hungering and thirsting for communion with God, and that divine knowledge which he [God] alone could give him. p. 62, Para. 1, [1SP].

This harkens back to the idea of personal messages from God to you. I think everyone who studies the Bible at all agrees that every time they read it they “see” something new. Is not this a personal message from God? I think so.

What is it, exactly, that we are getting? It is words— Christ, his image, from his book, the Bible.

Little wonder that there are so many references to hearing in the Bible. Hearing what? Words.

And after the close of probation, what is it that so many want and suffer for not having? Words.

Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD: Amos 8:11

Better study those words now while you have the chance. Besides, some VIP said, “they are they which testify of me.”

Christ told the parable of a certain rich man, which just may be a figure of the Laodiceans, for it is them that think they are rich in spiritual discernment, No. 23, page 12. Oftentimes in this country they are physically rich also. Here is the story.

There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;

And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.

Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father’s house: For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead. Luke 16:19-31

V e r y c a r e f u l l y… does the SDA church say, “Well, Ellen never claimed to be a prophet.” and “She called herself the Lord’s messenger.”

Yet, she was.

Any one who Christ talks to, and gives visions to, and commands to write out the same, and commands to teach his people— is a prophet.

In the parable Abraham tells this former rich man that “If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.” Yet this has happened many times over in the last days since October 23, 1844, the day the third angel’s message started with Hiram Edson’s vision in the cornfield.

I myself am witness to the same. For I was dead in sin, but God in mercy plucked me as a brand from the burning, saving my very life and now I live, as it were “one rose from the dead” “yet they would not hear[!!!]” Why would they not hear my testimony? Because they profess to love Moses but they do not the works of Moses! They profess to have a messenger from God and love to puff out the chest in pride, but they hate that very message from that very prophet!

So, they would not hear me, they will not hear you; though you too have been raised from the dead unto life.

I saw that our message was not to the shepherds who have led the flock astray, but to the poor hungry, scattered sheep. The Present Truth, No. 8, page 70.

Ellen was a prophet. God is the real author of her writings. They are not a part of the Bible but they are to give us a correct understanding of the Bible.

Bro. B—- would confuse the mind by seeking to make it appear that the light God has given through the Testimonies is an addition to the Word of God. But in this he presents it in a false light. God has seen fit in this manner to bring the minds of his people to his Word, to give them a more clear understanding of it. p. 153, Para. 1, [27OT].

We are 169 years into the patient, waiting, watching time. Now, very soon, it will be over. Could Christ come this October? You know, things can move very, very fast.

Please look at the last paragraph from yesterday’s post, just for a little review. Now think back to what God’s word is; Psalms 119:105, a lamp and a light. Compare this in your mind with John 1:1-5 where the word is identified as Jesus. Now a text.

For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 4:6

I’ll paraphrase this text.

For God, who commanded Jesus Christ to teach out of where there was no truth, hath taught in our minds, giving his word, which is the knowledge of the glory of God which is in the mind of Jesus Christ.

While we might use some other words to express, yet, if the thoughts in the paraphrase are reasonable, this makes the case for the image of Jesus Christ being formed in his people through their being instructed by the Holy Ghost, spiritual things explaining spiritual things, or; God teaching his people the deeper meaning of his words. Obedience to God’s will is a necessary part of the process for it is your works and faith without works is dead.

And again.

Hear the word of the LORD, ye children of Israel: for the LORD hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land. Hosea 4:1

Be instructed by God’s son Jesus Christ, ye Advent people: for the Lord hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the earth, because they have rejected Jesus as the only true Christ and his word as the only true source of knowledge of God in the earth.

In our highly civilized society of today much is made of science, the higher learning, the study of how things really work. Great numbers of these people are believers in man and his ability to discover truth about our life. The big problem with this is the rejection of God. To reject God is to reject true knowledge. From yesterday’s post….

The precepts and principles of religion are the first steps in the acquisition of knowledge, and lie at the very foundation of true education. Knowledge and science must be vitalized by the Spirit of God in order to serve the noblest purposes. The Christian alone can make the right use of knowledge. Science, in order to be fully appreciated, must be viewed from a religious standpoint. The heart which is ennobled by the grace of God can best comprehend the real value of education. The attributes of God, as seen in his created works, can be appreciated only as we have a knowledge of the Creator. p. 61, Para. 1, [29OT].

It is the pride of life, 1 John 2:16, that trips up so many people. We very quickly forget just how limited our poor little mortal lives really are. We run from the gravesite to our entertainment of choice, the mental candy that numbs the fine nerves preventing us from thinking, preventing us from facing the true reality.

God would save us all. He would instruct us all. But so few stop and ask, seek, or knock, therefore they do not get the mystery of the kingdom of God, they do not grow as required by God and eat the deep things.

Cease, my son, to hear the instruction that causeth to err from the words of knowledge. Proverbs 19:27

This passage from No. 29, titled “Our College,” contains some brilliant gems about the other tongue of Isaiah 28:11-12 that we have been studying. While we are only putting some excerpts here, all should read the entire passage that will widen their understanding of the excerpts.

First and foremost keep in mind that these spiritual words, that God is teaching the spiritual definitions to, are spirit and life, John 6:63. I don’t entirely understand it, but God said it and I choose to have faith in what he says. These words are the power of God and the wisdom of God, 1 Corinthians 1:17-3:3. Very important.

The great object to be secured should be the proper development of character, that the individual may be fitted rightly to discharge the duties of the present life, and to enter at last upon the future, immortal life. p. 49, Para. 1, [29OT].

Men and women of experience should understand that this is a time of especial danger for the young. Temptations surround them on every hand; and while it is easy work to float with the current, the strongest effort is required to press against the tide of evil. It is Satan’s studied effort to secure the youth in sin, for then he is more sure of the man. The enemy of souls is filled with intense hatred against every endeavor to influence the youth in the right direction. He hates everything which will give correct views of God and our Saviour, and his efforts are especially directed against all who are placed in a favorable position to receive light from Heaven. He knows that any movement on their part to come in connection with God will give them power to resist his devices. Those who are at ease in their sins, are safe under his banner. But as soon as efforts are make to break his power, his wrath is aroused, and he commences in earnest his work to thwart the purpose of God if possible. p. 53, Para. 2, [29OT].

The intellect, sanctified, will unlock the treasures of God’s word, and gather its precious gems to present to other minds, and lead them also to search for the deep things of God. A knowledge of the riches of his grace will ennoble and elevate the human soul, and through connection with Jesus Christ it becomes a partaker of the divine nature and obtain power to resist the advances of Satan. p. 53, Para. 3, [29OT].

Students must be impressed with the fact that knowledge alone may be a power in the hands of the enemy of all good to destroy them. It was a very intellectual being, one who occupied a high position among the angelic throng, who finally became a rebel; and many a mind of superior intellectual attainments is now being led captive by his power. The sanctified knowledge which God imparts is of the right quality, and will tell to the glory of God. p. 54, Para. 1, [29OT].

A most important part of their education has been neglected. That which lies at the foundation of all true knowledge should not have been made a secondary consideration. “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.” “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness.” This must not be made last, but first. The student must have opportunities to become conversant with his Bible. He needs time for this. A student who makes God his strength, who is becoming intelligent in the knowledge of God as revealed in his word, is laying the foundation for a thorough education. p. 57, Para. 1, [29OT].

I was shown that our College was designed of God to accomplish the great work of saving souls. It is only when brought under full control of the Spirit of God that the talents of an individual are rendered useful to the fullest extent. The teachers must not only be acquainted with the theory of the truth, but must have an experimental knowledge of the way of holiness in order to lead the youth to the fountain of truth, to the Lamb of God who taketh away the sins of the world. Knowledge is a power when united with true piety. p. 61, Para. 1, [29OT].

These Bible words make a nice lesson. Watch the parallel phrases and words, then the definitions.

To know wisdom and instruction;
To perceive the words of understanding;

To know is to perceive. Wisdom and instruction are words of understanding.

To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity;
To give subtilty to the simple,
To the young man knowledge and discretion.

To receive instruction is giving subtilty and knowledge and discretion.

A wise man will hear,
and will increase learning; and

Hearing is to increase learning and attaining.

A man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:

A wise man is a man of understanding and understanding is wise counsels.

To understand a proverb, and the interpretation;
the words of the wise, and their dark sayings. Proverbs 1:2-6

A proverb is the words of the wise and the interpretation is a dark saying.

There is no true wisdom apart from God and all wisdom is in fact Christ, the Word, in you, the hope of glory; the same Word was in the beginning, “and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. John 1:1-5

So God sent John the Baptist before Jesus Christ to prepare the way; “John was a representative of the people of God in the last days, to whom God has committed important and solemn truths,” Spirit of Prophecy, Vol. 2, page 44. Of him Christ said, he was God’s word teaching God’s word, John 5:35.

This means… that if you accept this method of hearing and increasing your learning, you will come to know wisdom, instruction and perceive words of understanding, you will receive instruction from God, gain subtilty, knowledge, discretion, the understanding of proverbs, parables, the words of the wise men of God and their dark sayings and be obedient to this instruction.

You will become a part of that group of the people of God in the last days of whom John the Baptist was a representative. Think very carefully of how John lived… and died.

I work at improving my writing so that it is not too obnoxious to read. The subject matter is generally of the greatest importance and the reader should not be too distracted by bad writing. Therefore I subscribe to DailyWritingTips.com, a well recommended resource.

One day I am reading the emailed tips and the following sentence was quoted for an example.

2. “‘The deepest bias in the history of the American people,’ is how historian Arthur Schlesinger Jr. referred to our nation’s history of anti-Catholic prejudice.”

The name was not familiar to me, so I looked it up. Wikipedia had this to say.

Arthur Meier Schlesinger, Jr. was an American historian, social critic, and public intellectual.

In worldly circles the man was highly thought of,… apparently. But who decides this? Is it not those who write history? Yes, it is even so. Great heros of war are only so because their side won. Turn the tables and they become war criminals. I say this to point out the language of the sentence, the message it proffers.

It is calling an anti-Catholic bias a prejudice. Another resource, Dictionary.com, had this to say about the word prejudice.

An unfavorable opinion or feeling formed beforehand or without knowledge, thought, or reason.

Historian Arthur Schlesinger Jr. is clearly writing with an agenda. He is writing to mis-inform people who would care to read his books. It is the willing ignorant who take something at face value or on the assertion of a supposed expert and do nothing to prove it.

Paul lauded the noble Bereans, in Acts 17:11, for proving all things.

This is where many fall down with respect to bibles. They are willing to take the assertions of a lauded expert and go no further in the examination of the evidence. We must needs ask the question, who is doing the lauding? Why are they doing it? Today there are over 5,200 documents available on the Bible. Of these, 99.992 percent support the KJV and only 44 documents do not. Yet it is these 44 documents that all the modern bibles are based on, and few are checking, testing, proving.

What is it we often say? “Follow the money.” We also talk about the “re-writing of history.” The Catholic church in general, and the Jesuits in particular, have long ago launched a major campaign to erase from the collective memory certain things that should never be forgotten, especially those relating to the Catholics.

‘The deepest bias in the history of the American people’ was not prejudice, it was founded on well proven and known facts about the Catholics that today have literally been educated away from the masses. Great numbers of peoples of all lands were here in this country to escape the religious persecution from the Catholics and the lands of the newly independent America were awash in anti-Catholic books, which largely have since disappeared as fast as the Catholics could make them so.

Recently on this site we exposed the lying of Arthur White about an anti-Catholic vision God gave to his church. Arthur White claimed that there was no such vision. Click on the link and see the vision for yourself. Better yet, go here and download the three files. The subject vision is in the first part of file No. 3, at the top of the page.

What was Arthur White doing? Why was he lying about the existence of the vision? In the mid-fifties the Martin-Barnhouse meetings were held with the church, which was made public by M. L. Andreasen in his “Letters to the Churches.” In those meetings the church was pressured to surrender to the peer pressure of the evangelical churches, which were already under Satan’s control. Arthur White’s lying about the vision appears to be a part of the entrenchment of a very pro-Catholic stance the church leadership was taking.

Many talk about Jesuits and Catholics in the church. It is doubtful that this is false. It would appear from the facts of acts that all the church leadership is compromised, away from the true God and toward the man of sin the pope. Why else would this church go and bow at the feet of the man of sin? honoring him with a gold medallion.

Make no mistake about it, the Catholic church is your enemy, not your friend. Arthur White’s lying appears to be part of an on-going denial for the purpose of placating the Catholics and their agenda of takeover of the world.

Here is the pertinent part of the vision.

I saw that the nominal churches and nominal Adventists, like Judas, would betray us to the Catholics, to obtain their influence to come against the saints. The saints will be an obscure people, but little known to the Catholics,

This is certainly the case for those who separate from the apostate SDA church in this day. This is an argument for the vision being true and prophetic of the then distant future.

but the church and nominal Adventists will know of our faith and customs, and will betray the saints and report them to the Catholics, as those who disregard the institution of the pope, that is they keep the Sabbath and disregard Sunday.

Then the Catholics bid the Protestants to go forward and issue a decree that all who will not observe the first day of the week instead of the seventh shall be slain, and the Catholics, whose numbers are large, will stand by the Protestants. The Catholics will give their power to the image of the beast and then Protestants will work as their mother worked before them to destroy the saints. But before their decrees bring forth or bear fruit, the saints will be delivered by the voice of God.

Download the vision here, it is in file No. 3.

When we come to this faith we are to desire the milk of the word, 1 Peter 2:2, but that milk is for the purpose of growing. Then we eat the meat of the word and use the milk for babies. 1 Corinthians 3:1-3

Meat is the spiritual meaning God has given his words. It is this instruction from God that properly creates the reflection of Christ’s image in us, which will not work if we do not have faith in it. The 1858 Great Controversy, on page 142, tells us that God’s people, who then walked in the light of the midnight cry, did just that, they reflected Christ’s image and they were then accepted with the Father.

In The Day-Star God illustrates the path his people walk as being strait and narrow. Yet, he calls this the path of peace, light, happiness, and rest.

The path of the upright is the path of peace. It is so plain that the humble God-fearing man can walk in it without stumbling, and without making crooked paths. It is a narrow path; but men of different temperaments can walk side by side, if they but follow the Captain of their salvation. Those who wish to carry along all their evil traits and selfish habits cannot walk in this path, for it is too straight [strait] and narrow. p. 164, Para. 2, [29OT].

What pains the great Shepherd takes to call his sheep by name, and invite them to follow in his footsteps. He seeks the wandering. He flashes the light from his word to show them their peril. He speaks to them from Heaven in warnings and reproofs, and invitations to return to the right path. He seeks to help the erring by his presence, and to lift them when they fall. But many have followed the path of sin so long that they will not hear the voice of Jesus. They leave all that can give them rest and security, yield themselves up to a false guide, and presumptuously hurry on in blind self-confidence, going farther and farther from light and peace, from happiness and rest. p. 165, Para. 1, [29OT].

Yet they would not hear!

I have been shown that the reason why some cannot discern the right is because they have so long cherished the enemy, who has worked side by side with them while they have not discerned his power. p. 101, Para. 3, [23OT].

The church has departed from the light, neglected her duties, abused her high and exalted privileges of being peculiar and holy in character, and thereby dishonored her God, like ancient Israel. They have violated their covenant to live for God and him only. They have joined in with the selfish and world-loving. Pride, the love of pleasure, and sin, are cherished, and Christ has departed. His Spirit has been quenched in the church. Satan works side by side with professed Christians; yet they are so destitute of spirituality and discernment that they do not detect him. They have not the burden of the work. The solemn truths they profess to believe are not a reality to them. They have not genuine faith. Men and women will act out all the faith they in reality possess. By their fruits ye shall know them. Not their profession, but the fruit they bear, shows the character of the true. Many have a form of godliness, their names are upon the church records, but they have a spotted record in Heaven. The recording angel has written deeds. Their acts have been faithfully written. Every selfish act, every wrong word, every unfulfilled duty, and every secret sin, with every artful dissembling, is faithfully chronicled in the book of records kept by the recording angel. p. 129, Para. 2, [18OT].

Words, words, words, these are the stuff of life. A man is rich if he has an abundance of words. Now comes the task of separating, deciding, sorting. Words arraigned paint a picture. If that picture be evil, that arraignment must be discarded. Those same words, arraigned differently, make a picture of good. That arraignment must be guarded, preserved, shielded from evil.

God presents his words to man. This is illustrated in the parable of the sower, found in Matthew 13:1-9; Mark 4:1-9; Luke 8:4-8. Then something happens, an enemy comes in and steals the good words and replaces them with smooth words, words of the world, words of man. See Matthew 13:24-30. These words cause death. These are the same words Eve listened to and suddenly she thought that the fruit on that tree was good for food!

Those evil words attracted her lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes and her pride of life, she surrendered and went to find another to drag down also. Sad. The following texts show that God reads the hearts of men and knows in advance. Matthew 13:10-17; Mark 4:10-12; Luke 8:9-10; John 12:35-43

Here is the explanation of the parable of the sower. Matthew 13:18-23; Mark 4:13-20; Luke 8:11-15;

Here is much more. The parable of the sower is just a parable, at first, but then it is so much more! You take a look, you examine these texts for that seed, sown in the mind of the hearer, you prove the words of life. Remember Psalms 119:105, what is light? John 1:1-14; 3:19-21; 4:41; 5:8, 11, 24, 35, 38, 47; 6:27-65; 8:12-47; 9:5; 10:4, 16, 26-27; 11:40; 12:44-50; 14:1-25; 15:3, 7, 10, 20, 22; 16:8-15, 25, 33; 17:3, 6, 14-20; 20:31; 1John 1:1-7; 2:5, 7-11, 14.
