Sabbath August 3, 2013

Sometimes something just fits so well…. This just happens be one of those.

Necessity of Harmony. p. 117, Para. 1, [27OT].

The Spirit of God will not abide where there is disunion and contention among believers in the truth. Even if these feelings are unexpressed they take possession of the heart and drive out the peace and love that should characterize the Christian church. They are the result of selfishness in its fullest sense. This evil may take the form of inordinate self-esteem, or an undue longing for the approbation of others, even if it is obtained undeservedly. p. 117, Para. 2, [27OT].

Self-exaltation must be renounced by those who profess to love God and keep his commandments, or they need not expect to be blessed by his divine favor. p. 117, Para. 3, [27OT].

Taking this as a single unit, knowing that every word of God’s is pure, we can state that the Spirit of God is not abiding inside the SDA church because of the disunion and contention there. This is an interesting thing. If the Spirit of God is not abiding there, what spirit is there?

Tracing this further back, we can also state that the church can not ever understand the parables that Christ taught, correctly, because they are busy with Satan’s devices.

And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ. I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able. For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men? 1 Corinthians 3:1-3

And by extension, this means that they can never enter that rest, the Sabbath rest, which is the seal.

To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; Isaiah 28:12

Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, Hebrews 4:11

If we do not enter that rest, we are not sealed; because….

This seal is the Sabbath. 1849 Broadside

How do we get that seal? Or, how do we enter that rest? Here is exactly how.

1.) Make sure you are converted, that you have repented and confessed your sins to God, not man. Do not miss this step. Christ’s righteousness only covers the sins that have been blotted out of the book, which are only the sins that have been confessed. Then you are required to be baptized. Currently God’s people are very scattered and it is extremely difficult to find one worthy to baptize another. Pray about it and leave it with God to solve. All these things the milk of the Word teaches.

2.) You MUST move on from the milk to the meat of God’s word. This is growing. Here is exactly how.

Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 1 Corinthians 2:13

All God’s words are spiritual, John 4:24, therefore, you take God’s words and use them to define God’s words. It is God’s definitions that teach you the greater depth of his word and comes close to you to teach you exactly what you need to know for victory over your trials and temptations.

This is considered to be “ridiculous” [Isaiah 33:19] by virtually all pastors and ministers, top to bottom. You should expect this from those who profess to go to God and yet they have gone to the world for instruction in the things of God. They are deceived and know it not; for they have not proven the source from which they drink. If they did, they too would discover the deception.

3.) Study Isaiah 28:9-13 together with 1 Corinthians 1:17 through 3:3 and you too will be taught of the Lord that the wisdom of this world is nothing but bad before God. Then put this together with Hebrews chapter 4 to understand that this Sabbath rest is in fact the deeper meeting with God through his word, which is Christ.

4.) Retain this rest for your armor. Keep it on by thinking of it throughout the day. Cherish the words of life in your mind, in all you do.

the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. John 6:63

Hear; for I will speak of excellent things; Proverbs 8:6

And, teach you children so they are not lost.

And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. Deuteronomy 6:7

And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. Deuteronomy 11:19

Blessed shalt thou be,
when we meet under the tree,
if not before,
for there is always more.

Tuesday July 16, 2013

We are living in the great Anti-Typical Day of Atonement and have been since the Father and Christ went into the Most Holy place on October 22, 1844. There is an important work for each saint in connection with this day’s work. It is examining our lives and making sure every sin is confessed to God that that sin might be blotted out of the books in Heaven.

There are not a large amount of references to “blotting” in the Testimonies, about seven, by my count. Sometimes it is said another way, but the message of preparation is very important. Here a couple of passages with this message.

O, let us live wholly for the Lord, and show by a well ordered life, and godly conversation that we have been with Jesus, and are his meek and lowly followers. We must work while the day lasts, for when the dark night of trouble and anguish comes, it will be too late to work for God. Jesus is still in his Holy Temple, and will now accept our sacrifices, our prayers, and our confessions of faults and sins, and will now pardon all the transgressions of Israel, that they may be blotted out before he leaves the Sanctuary. When Jesus leaves the Sanctuary, then he that is holy and righteous, will be holy and righteous still; for all their sins will then be blotted out, and they will be sealed with the seal of the living God. But those that are unjust and filthy, will be unjust and filthy still; for then there will be no Priest in the Sanctuary to offer their sacrifices, their confessions, and their prayers before the Father’s throne. Therefore, what is done to rescue souls from the coming storm of wrath, must be done before Jesus leaves the Most Holy Place of the Heavenly Sanctuary. [RH 09-01-49 para. 7] p. 9, Para. 1, [1849MS].

To these youth I am authorized to say, Repent ye and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out. There is no time for you to waste. Heaven and immortal life are valuable treasures that will cost an effort on your part to obtain. No matter how faultless may have been your lives, as sinners you have steps to take. You are required to repent, believe, and be baptized. Christ was wholly righteous, yet he, the Saviour of the world, gave man an example, by taking the steps himself which he requires the sinner to take to become a child of God–an heir of Heaven. p. 51, Para. 1, [26OT].

It is a part of the apostasy of the church that this great work God’s people must engage and complete, is not preached, not taught, not spoken. Yet those who do not participate in this work can not be saved; for they are trying to get to Heaven outside of God’s appointed way.

Here is one more.

Your influence has been improving for some weeks in the past, but you lack a firm principle. You lack in many things, and in some things you must know where you fail. The follies of your youth have left their impress upon you, and you can never recover what you have lost through impure habits. These things have benumbed your sensibilities so that sacred things are not clearly discerned. You cannot, with your present experience, resist temptation. You cannot endure trials. You are not sanctified through the truth. You have taken hold of the truth, but the truth has not taken hold upon you, to transform you by the renewing of your mind. Oh! do not, I entreat of you, remain deceived in regard to your true condition. You are a self-deceived man. You have not felt deep conviction because of your sins, and in deep humility sought the Lord with anguish of heart, that your transgressions might be blotted out. You could not see that your ways were so sinful before God. The work is not inwrought in your soul. A self-righteous garment you have clothed yourself with to cover up the deformity of sin; but this is not the remedy. You know not what true conversion is. The old man with you is not dead. You have a form of godliness, but not the cleansing power of God. You can, and do, talk and write smoothly. Your words, as far as they go, may possibly be correct, but the true language of the heart is not spoken. You know this. You are thus much acquainted with yourself. Your case is perilous; yet God pities you, and will save you if you fall all broken at his feet, feeling your vileness, and impurity, and rottenness of soul, without the transforming power of God. p. 155, Para. 3, [17OT].

Do not wait til YOU think your life is about to close, lest you be like the man in the parable who said, “Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.” Luke 12:20-21

This is a part of that that is said, “Get ready, get ready, get ready!” Christ could come this very year!

I have made the list, under the topic of Conversion, to more nearly reflect as it states here.

Christ was wholly righteous, yet he, the Saviour of the world, gave man an example, by taking the steps himself which he requires the sinner to take to become a child of God–an heir of Heaven. p. 51, Para. 1, [26OT].

If Christ, the spotless and pure Redeemer of man, condescended to take the steps necessary for the sinner to take in conversion, why should any, with the light of truth shining upon their pathway, hesitate to submit their hearts to God, and in humility confess that they are sinners, and show their faith in the atonement of Christ by words and actions, identifying themselves with those who profess to be his followers? There will ever be those who do not live their profession, whose daily lives show them to be anything but Christians; but should this be a sufficient reason for any to refuse to put on Christ by baptism into the faith of his death and resurrection? p. 51, Para. 2, [26OT].

There are two other places where this requirement is given, the same, and in perfect harmony with the above.

The scripture he was studying was Isa. 53:7. Philip understood the desire of his heart, and preached unto him Jesus Christ revealed in prophecy, and his mission to the earth to save sinners. He showed him the steps necessary to take in conversion–repentance toward God because of transgression of the Father’s law, faith in Christ as the Saviour of men, and baptism in the likeness of his death. The eunuch’s heart was all ready to receive the light and truth, and he accepted with gladness the gospel preached by Philip. p. 304, Para. 2, [3SP ].

The descent of the Holy Ghost upon the Gentiles was not an equivalent for baptism. The requisite steps in conversion, in all cases, are faith, repentance, and baptism. Thus the true Christian church are united in one Lord, one faith, one baptism. Diverse temperaments are modified by sanctifying grace, and the same distinguishing principles regulate the lives of all. Peter yielded to the entreaties of the believing Gentiles, and remained with them for a time, preaching Jesus to all the Gentiles thereabout. p. 332, Para. 1, [3SP ].

All this then needs to be put together with the words of a vision, dated August 24, 1850.

I saw those who have been baptized as a door into the churches, would have to be baptized again as a door into the faith. Those who have not been baptized since 1844 will have to be before Jesus comes. And some I saw would not make progress till the duty was performed.

Let’s face it. This faith is not the same as the GCSDA church has, for it is the faith of their founding fathers, … which they have publicly rejected. If you accept the faith of the Advent believers who are walking on the strait and narrow path to the city, you need to repent to God, believe his word, have faith in that word and be baptized in the likeness of his death.

God will answer the prayer of faith and provide someone to baptize you.

Sabbath March 9, 2013

Notice the opening sentence.

A view given me September 7th.
At Oswego, (N.Y.), the Lord shewed me that there must be a great work done for his people before they could stand

in the battle

in the day of the Lord.

What is “the battle in the day of the Lord?”

This has to be a part of what is happening in this patient, waiting, watching, time.

I used to think this time was void of anything really major happening. WRONG!

People are born every day and die every day, physically, literally. What about spiritually?

It’s been 168 years since October 22, 1844. It’s been more than 100 years since my life started.

People must become a true Christian AND perfect a character fit for Heaven AND be sealed during their lifetime, or they will be excluded from Heaven. This is so because there is no continuation of probation after your life ends.

There is no resurrection of partial Christians before the close of probation so they can finish perfecting their character. All that must happen during their lifetime.

I am required to confess all my sins to God so that they can be forgiven and blotted out before the close of probation. This is a requirement of the anti-typical Day of Atonement. Fail here and you will be leaving unconfessed sins on the books of Heaven. This = death.

I suggest you study Christ’s righteousness from the authentic Spirit of Prophecy and a KJV Bible. Eat good bread, not a moldy mess!!!

I was pointed to those who claim to be Adventists, but reject the present truth, and saw that they were crumbling, and that the hand of the Lord was in their midst to divide and scatter them now in the gathering time,

Even though this was published in 1851, it is every wit applicable to our day. Notice the words of God. “Those who claim to be Adventists.” Not only does the GCSDA church claim the title, they have taken legal possession of the name, trying to secure it to themselves.

“But reject present truth.” Remember The Day-Star? Remember that strait and narrow path? Remember the light of the Midnight Cry? which shines, the text says “shone,” which still means to teach, “all along the path.” This means all the way to the city.

Because the SDA church has rejected this teaching light, they are off the path. They are arguing over things that God made perfectly plain to the true pioneers of this faith. They will not be taught, they will not learn, in their pride of worldly wisdom they go to man to teach them about God! These teachers are Satan’s agents and they know it not.

So it is that they are crumbling and God is in their midst dividing and scattering; even now in the gathering time!!!

so that the precious jewels among them, that have formerly been deceived, may have their eyes opened to see their true state. And now when the truth is presented to them by the Lord’s messengers, they will be prepared to listen, and see its beauty and harmony, and leave their former associates, and errors, and embrace the precious truth, and stand where they can define their position. p. 57, [CEV].

Want a call out? It doesn’t get any better than this! Grab your KJV Bible, load up e-Sword, download for free a set of the authentic Spirit of Prophecy, get serious about your own future with your Creator and Maker, let the sun shine on you, walk in the light of the moon, bathe in rivers of butter and honey, listen not to the wave’s roar, have his rod and staff comfort you, receive peace, accept mercy, embrace grace, live in love, enjoy joy, be of those that receive him and take the power he offers to become… the sons of God.

Wednesday December 5, 2012

The other day…. I was out gathering firewood, as I lifted a large piece of wood, it felt light. As I pondered that, suddenly a chain of thoughts came pouring through.

The wood was lightweight because it was dead.

It was also light because it was dry, it had no water in it.

Christ said, “For if they do these things in a green tree, what shall be done in the dry?” Luke 23:31

And I realized that I was learning through nature, just like John the Baptist did.

He subjected himself to privation and solitude in the wilderness where he could preserve by sacred sense of the majesty of God, by studying his great book of nature and there becoming acquainted with the character of God, in his wonderful works. It was an atmosphere calculated to perfect moral culture and keep the fear of the Lord continually before him. John, the forerunner of Christ, did not expose himself to evil conversation and the corrupting influences of the world. He feared its effects upon his conscience, that sin might not appear to him so exceedingly sinful. He chose rather to have his home in the wilderness, where his senses would not be perverted by his surroundings. Should we not learn something from this example of one whom Christ honored and of whom he said, Among those born of women there are none greater than John the Baptist. p. 152, Para. 3, [26OT].

I had read about this and similar years ago, but I just could not understand how it was that one could learn about God’s character through nature, even though I spent a lot of time in nature.

Now it’s become clear. First you must become truly converted, otherwise you will be called a “strange child.” You must be faced with God’s law and understand that you are a sinner and have a great need of redemption. Then you must confess your sins before God and ask for forgiveness. Next is baptism. You have now become a child of God, willing to be instructed by the Holy Ghost in the things of God, the things that are hidden from the seekers, because they want Heaven and the world. You can not have both.

Because you have chosen the strait and narrow way, the exact same way Christ walked while he lived on earth. Right? It’s overcoming as he overcame. But that overcoming process is also a process of being taught of God. In the above passage from No. 26, the phrase “the fear of the Lord” means, the instruction of the Lord.

God created the plan of Salvation. It is his “appointed way.” This is a term used about 12 times in the original, authenticated Spirit of Prophecy. Any one, using any way, other than God’s appointed way, trying to do spiritual things, is outside of God’s plan. This is very dangerous.

The hidden treasure is a major part of God’s appointed way. It is hidden in plain sight. This is God’s plan to prevent those from being in Heaven who should not be happy there. And it works by God reading the hearts of men, and opening to them that it is given, their understanding of dark sayings, parables, the mystery of Godliness, hid from the wicked by being right in front of them, “that seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them.” Mark 4:12

Belief and faith in God and in his promise to instruct us; an understanding of the hidden treasure, that the Bible was so designed by God to be it’s own dictionary and define it’s own terms without the supposed wisdom of the learned men of the world; a heart and mind that is right before God, not self-deceived nor double-minded, but asking, seeking and knocking after truth with the explicit purpose of being obedient to it; these, I have found, are the keys to being instructed by the Holy Ghost.

So a green tree represents Christ and his followers, a dry tree represents the wicked, they are spiritually dead, they have no living water, hence are “light” and with out weight.

Behold, I am against them that prophesy false dreams, saith the LORD, and do tell them, and cause my people to err by their lies, and by their lightness; yet I sent them not, nor commanded them: therefore they shall not profit this people at all, saith the LORD. Jeremiah 23:32

Today, I am going to do one of my favorite topics. Aunt Arie Carpenter. Not an SDA. Attended the Coweeta Baptist church all her life. At Coweeta Baptist ChurchDrank coffee and ate the pig. But when you read about the last few years of her life, in the book by Foxfire Press, “Aunt Arie, a Foxfire Protrait,” you will probably come to the same conclusion as me; we will meet at the tree of life. I don’t usually put up any pictures of anything on this blog, she being the exception.

Cover of the book by Foxfire Press, "Aunt Arie, A Foxfire Portrait."s  The first time I did this, the software was new to me and I was unsure of how to do all this. This time you can click on the thumbnails shown here and get a larger picture for some better detail. Some may have to click on the picture a second time to get the full size. This is especially true for the cover. Nice picture however.

This is the cover of the book that I have. They are sometimes available on ebay or elsewhere out there. I think it’s worth the few dollars to get a story IRL, (in real life) of a person who, I believe, God chose to showcase, using Foxfire to do it. In reading the story I became convicted that Aunt Arie lived up to all the light she had, and died, never hearing the three angel’s messages.

This, in spite of the fact, that she lived only about 8 miles from the Cowee Mountain School. Born in 1885, she would have been 26 at the time of the founding of the school, in 1911. About 1918 the church launched a major campaign to destroy Cowee Mountain School. The blessing of God resting on that school, and in a mere seven years time, was too much an embarrassment to endure.

Front and Side of Arie's home

Nevertheless, at this time we know of no connection of Arie with the school. I doubt very much that she never heard of it. The reputation of good things from there was strong locally. Arie exemplified a solid Christian example in her character.

It was 1970 when Eliot, the founder of Foxfire, first met Arie. It’s quite the story! A shy Arie

Arie had four more years to live at her home, her cabin on the mountain. Four years God used to showcase the story of one of his own.

I believe it is this woman’s character, whose brilliance awed the beholder and bewildered Eliot, as he stated in the introduction.

I spend most of my time crying as I read Aunt Arie’s story. It is so beautiful, that a woman who has so many reasons to complain…, not a murmur escapes her lips. I think God was well pleased with her example, and showcased it to the world, as proof, and as encouragement for all believers. Lift up your heads!

Vol. 1, No. 1, The Present Truth, by James White. In his first article, James makes the case for the importance of present truth. Here are some excerpts.

It is through the truth that souls are sanctified, and made ready to enter the everlasting kingdom. Obedience to the truth will kill us to this world, that we may be made alive, by faith in Jesus.
In Peter’s time there was present truth, or truth applicable to that present time. The Church have ever had a present truth. The present truth now, is that which shows present duty, and the right position for us who are about to witness the time of trouble such as never was. Present truth must be oft repeated, even to those who are established in it. This was needful in the apostles day, and it certainly is no less important for us, who are living just before the close of time.

As in our study of Bible Word’s Spiritually Discerned, we discover link after link to the great importance of present truth, we wonder, who shall be able to stand? As a reminder for us of the great danger of these last days, we re-post these warnings from God.

The insinuations of Satan took effect until they [the angels in Heaven] really believed that the Father and the Son were their enemies, and Satan, the benefactor. Satan has the same power and the same control over minds now, only increased by exercise and experience a hundred-fold. Men and women are today deceived, blinded by his insinuations and devices, and know it not. They are, in giving place to doubts and unbelief in regard to the work of God, and cherishing feelings of distrust and cruel jealousies, preparing themselves for complete deception. They rise up with bitter feelings against the ones who have dared to speak of their errors and reprove their sins. p. 103, Para. 1, [23OT].

As we near the close of time, the human mind is more readily affected by Satan’s devices. R&H, February 18, 1862

Virtually every kind and type of drug used by the world today is in some way affecting people’s minds.

God is calling his people to separate from the world and it’s ways of living. People constantly depending on a worldly trained doctor are going to have a very difficult time of understanding critical present truth for the great focal point of the plan of salvation. Leave your drugs behind so you won’t be.

Every day Jerry is opening more and more of the Bible, using the key of David; which is the spiritual discernment of learning, through the power of the Holy Ghost, just what God wants his church to know. It has become clear that Revelation is not just a revelation of prophecy. It is a revelation of hidden treasure, hidden in the field of the Bible words. It will take all to buy the field. This simply means that you will have to make a total commitment, totally renouncing the world, before you will be able to see the beauty of spiritual discernment. It will be hidden from your eyes. This is the striving to enter the gate. The release of all you hold dear.

He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. Matthew 10:37

One of the issues of present truth is baptism. Most SDAs were baptized as a door into the church. See “Three Early Visions,” Spalding and Magan, pages 1-4. With the believers so widely scattered, how shall all be baptized? The answer is: we don’t know… yet. In his time God will show the truth.

It is interesting that John the Baptist was never baptized that we know of. Remember when Christ came to him, John told Christ, “ I have need to be baptized of thee.” Is this the example of what will happen to those who give the loud cry? and hundreds come out of Babylon to be baptized into the faith. We don’t know yet.

There is more, a lot more. Line upon line, precept upon precept, we will explore such, here.

Part 9 of  12

First we should feel needy, and then ask God for the very things we need, and then believe he gives them to us, even while we ask; and then, I saw, that our faith would grow, all would be edified, the weak would be strengthened, the discouraged and desponding made to look up, and believe that God is a rewarder of all those who diligently seek him.
Some hold back in meetings because they have nothing new to say, and must repeat the same story if they speak. I saw that pride was at the bottom of this. That God and angels witnessed the testimonies of the saints, and the Lord was well pleased, and was glorified by their testimonies repeated weekly. The Lord and his holy angels love simplicity and humility. I saw that God had been displeased, and angels grieved, that professed heirs of God, and joint heirs with Jesus, should suffer precious time to run to waste in their meetings.
If the brethren and sisters were in the place they should be, they would not be at a loss to find something to say in honor of Jesus, who hung upon Calvary’s cross for their sins. If they would cherish more of a realizing sense of the condescension of God in giving his only beloved Son to die, a sacrifice for our sins and transgressions, and the sufferings and anguish of Jesus to make a way of escape for guilty man, that he might receive pardon and live, they would be more ready to extol and magnify Jesus. They could not hold their peace; but with thankfulness and gratitude, would talk of his glory, and tell of his power. And blessings from God would rest upon them by so doing. Even if the same story was repeated, God would be glorified.
The Angel shewed me those who ceased not day nor night, crying, Holy, Holy, Lord, God Almighty. “Continual repetition,” said the Angel, “yet God is glorified by it.” Although we may tell the same story over and over, it honors God, and shows that we are not unmindful of him and his goodness and mercies to us.

A quick reminder here; Crosier had the truth, a clear understanding, about this text. You will find that on page # of this work.

I saw that the nominal churches had fallen; that coldness and death reigns in their midst. If they would follow the Word it would humble them. But they get above the work of the Lord. It is too humbling for them to repeat the same simple story of God’s goodness when they meet together; and they try to get something new; something great, and study to have their words exact to the ear, and please man, and God’s Spirit has left them. When we follow the humble, Bible way, we shall have the movings of the Spirit of God. All will be in sweet harmony, if we follow the humble channel of truth, depending wholly upon God, and there will be no danger of being affected by the evil angels. It is when souls get above the Spirit of God, moving in their own strength, that the angels cease watching over them, and they are left to the buffetings of satan.

I saw that duties were laid down for us in God’s word, to be performed to keep the people of God humble and separate from the world, and from backsliding, like the nominal churches. Washing feet, and the Lord’s supper should be more frequently practiced.

In The Present Truth, No. 2, page 12, James gives us a glimpse of those days in these words. “Paul preached to them on the Sabbath, which closed at 6 o’clock P. M., then in the evening, which commenced the first day, the disciples came together to celebrate the Lord’s supper, and Pail preached all night. We follow this example of the disciples, and break bread in the evening of the first day just after the close of the Sabbath.”

We think the pioneers kept the Lord’s supper each week at this time in 1849. Currently we do not know more than is said here. Remember, the Supplement was published in 1854. James speaks of formalism taking over the church as early as August 1850. This can be found in The Advent Review, No. 1, page 16.

Jesus set us the example, and told us to do as he had done. I saw that the example of Christ should be as exactly followed as possible; yet brethren and sisters have not always moved as judiciously as they should in washing feet, and confusion has been caused. It should be introduced into new places with carefulness and wisdom, especially where the people are not informed relative to the example and teachings of our Lord on this point, and where they have prejudice against it. Many honest souls are much prejudiced against this plain duty, through the influence of their former teachers in whom they had confidence; and the subject should be introduced to them in a proper time and manner.
There is no example given in the Word for brethren to wash sisters’ feet; but there is an example for sisters to wash the feet of brethren.

At this time, we think this includes married couples. God has reasons for everything he does, we should only be seeking to be obedient, not questioning. The formalization of everything done in church makes it easy for the devil to make evil suggestions about God’s work when things do not happen just so. Therefore, should the Holy Ghost move upon a “Mary” to wash a man’s feet, under formalism it would be looked upon as some form of evil; yet, under Gospel Order, it would be the work of God and not man. We see here Gospel Order in action.

Mary washed the feet of Jesus with her tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head. Also see 1 Timothy 5:10. I saw that the Lord had moved upon sisters to wash the feet of brethren, and that it was according to gospel order. All should move understandingly, and not make the washing of feet a tedious ceremony.
The holy salutation mentioned in the gospel of Jesus Christ as taught by the apostle Paul, should ever be regarded in its true character. It is a holy kiss. It should be regarded as a sign of fellowship to Christian friends, when parting, and meeting again after a separation for weeks or months. In 1 Thessalonians 5:26, Paul says:–“Greet all the brethren with an holy kiss.” And in the same chapter he says:– “Abstain from all appearance of evil.” Verse 22. There can be no appearance of evil when the holy kiss is given at a proper time and place.

Though I am well aware of the fact that this kiss is a part of Gospel Order, it does not seem God’s people are quite ready for it. Probably after the start of the Loud Cry it will come into use, as then the wicked will be purged from the rolls.

I saw that the strong hand of the enemy is set against the work, and the help and strength of every one who loves the cause of truth, should be enlisted; and great interest manifested by them to uphold the hands of those who advocate the truth. And by steady watch-care, shut out the enemy. All should stand as one, united in this work. Every energy of their soul should be awake; for what is done must be done quickly.
I then saw the third angel. Said my accompanying angel, “Fearful is his work. Awful is his mission. He is the angel that is to select the wheat from the tares, and seal or bind the wheat for the heavenly garner. These things should engross the whole mind, the whole attention.”

In this passage, we crossed a threshold. Clearly, we are now dealing with the third angel, which we also know is not an angel, but an illustration of God’s people who are doing that work. I would invite you to turn back a few pages to page # 135? and re-read those comments in addition to these.

The third angel is interesting, in that, these people, God’s true church, are passing through different phases, illustrated as angels doing a specific work. Like an engine in a car, or baking a loaf of bread, timing is important. The true pioneers of this faith are the ones who were in all the messages; meaning, that they were first illustrated as the first angel of Revelation 14. Next, they were illustrated as the second angel; then they were illustrated as the third angel. And now that we have a correct understanding of Bible prophecy, we know God’s true church will be illustrated by the angel of Revelation 18, for they will be giving that message in response to Sunday being made a test. Check No. 6, page 22, for confirmation.

You might want to also review the list of processes we are living under in the last days, which is on page #. The list is long and very important. Perhaps once we actually get a grasp of the full meaning of these things we will not be so blasé about them.

Today’s post is from chapter thirteen.

Vision of August 24, 1850, Spalding and Magan, 1915-1916 (date published)

           Vision of August 24, 1850.

Said the angel, Can ye stand in the battle in the day of the Lord? Ye need to be washed, and live in nearness of life to God.

This would be the same as walking “in the light as he is in the light.”

Then I saw those whose hands are engaged in making up the breach and are standing in the gap, that have formerly since 1844 broken the commandments, and have so far followed the pope as to keep the first day instead of the seventh, and who have since the light shone out of the Most Holy Place, changed their course, given up the institution of the pope, and are keeping God’s Sabbath, would have to go down into the water, and be baptized in the faith of the sanctuary, and keeping the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.

Baptism clearly is being taught as a necessary act of faith, for this faith. It is no different than Christ did, when he showed us the path to take. He took every step we are to take.

I saw those who have been baptized as a door into the churches, would have to be baptized again as a door into the faith. Those who have not been baptized since 1844 will have to be before Jesus comes. And some I saw would not make progress till the duty was performed.

We have some criteria here that just seems to stick in the craw of many SDAs. I think it is largely because of the fact that the SDA church practices the correct form of baptism, immersion. But right at that point Satan tempts many with pride, it’s too humiliating to go down into the water after being in the church so many years. It’s taking a public stand, before other believers, that you were wrong, wrong so many years.

Well then, it’s high time to get it right. Shortly after God brought me into this faith, I was baptized, in a river. We don’t own any baptismals that I know of.

At this day, all SDAs have been baptized “as a door into the church.” When you decide to follow Christ all the way, you will need to be re-baptized into this faith. I encourage you to not delay. Don’t let anything stand between you and God.

The angel said, some tried too hard to believe. Faith is so simple they look above it.

This is a strong tendency that I have. I want to dissect everything that crosses my path. I have to have God’s help to get this right, just like we all do. Satan does all in his power to prevent your correct understanding of these things. We might remind you of the thoughts on faith and feelings, found on page #.

Satan has deceived some, and got them to looking at their own unworthiness. I saw they must look away from self to the worthiness of Jesus, and throw themselves just as they are, needy, dependent upon His mercy, and draw by faith strength and nourishment from Him.
Said the angel, The desolations of Zion are accomplished– the scattering time is past.

The scattering and gathering times are a real part of our, correctly taught, history, and present. We are now in the gathering time, and have been for over 160 years. This is God gathering his church into unity, by the truth.

Should the living go to the dead for knowledge? The dead know not anything. They have departed from the living God to converse with the dead.

We come to an important juncture. I have to share something with you that God led me to. It helped me in a big way to confirm my faith, give me a more clear understanding of why certain things were,  before, unexplainable.

I am fully, 100%, convinced that Ellen was a faithful prophet of God’s all her life. What I am about to share with you should convince you of the direct involvement of W. C. White in the counterfeiting of the true Spirit of Prophecy. This is a letter, allegedly from Ellen to W. C., in which the, now dead, by about four weeks, James, counsels Ellen while she is in a dream. The next to last line in the letter states, “The Lord forbids me.” This is pure blasphemy. Attributing the work of Satan to God.

Ecclesiastes 9:5-6, “neither have they any more a portion forever in anything that is done under the sun,” is how God puts it. I believe W. C. created that letter because he did not want to go to that meeting. I believe it was never intended to be made public. But death caught him, and another, knowing nothing of the matter, sorted papers for the files. Arthur White published it for the first time in “The Retirement Years,” but it was placed there as if normal, nothing wrong.

The above sentence is God’s warning to his church, specifically about the dead. And he is going to change completely for this one instance? NO NEVER! Our God is un-changing. His truth stands true forever. Here is the entire letter.

Ellen Dreams of James After His Death
A few days since I was pleading with the Lord for light in regard to my duty. In the night I dreamed I was in the carriage, driving, sitting at the right hand. Father was in the carriage, seated at my left hand. He was very pale, but calm and composed. “Why Father,” I exclaimed, “I am so happy to have you by my side once more! I have felt that half of me was gone. Father, I saw you die; I saw you buried. Has the Lord pitied me and let you come back to me again, and we work together as we used to?”
He looked very sad. He said, “The Lord knows what is best for you and for me. My work was very dear to me. We have made a mistake. We have responded to urgent invitations of our brethren to attend important meetings. We had not the heart to refuse. These meetings have worn us both more than we were aware. Our good brethren were gratified, but they did not realize that in these meetings we took upon us greater burdens than at our age we could safely carry. They will never know the result of this long-continued strain upon us. God would have had them bear the burdens we have carried for years. Our nervous energies have been continuously taxed, and then our brethren misjudging our motives and not realizing our burdens have weakened the action of the heart. I have made mistakes, the greatest of which was in allowing my sympathies for the people of God to lead me to take work upon me which others should have borne.
“Now, Ellen, calls will be made as they have been, desiring you to attend important meetings, as has been the case in the past. But lay this matter before God and make no response to the most earnest invitations. Your life hangs as it were upon a thread. You must have quiet rest, freedom from all excitement and from all disagreeable cares. We might have done a great deal for years with our pens, on subjects the people need that we have had light upon and can present before them, which others do not have. Thus you can work when your strength returns, as it will, and you can do far more with your pen than with your voice.”
He looked at me appealingly and said, “You will not neglect these cautions, will you, Ellen? Our people will never know under what infirmities we have labored to serve them because our lives were interwoven with the progress of the work, but God knows it all. I regret that I have felt so deeply and labored unreasonably in emergencies, regardless of the laws of life and health. The Lord did not require us to carry so heavy burdens and many of our brethren so few. We ought to have gone to the Pacific Coast before, and devoted our time and energies to writing. Will you do this now? Will you, as your strength returns, take your pen and write out these things we have so long anticipated, and make haste slowly? There is important matter which the people need. Make this your first business. You will have to speak some to the people, but shun the responsibilities which have borne us down.”
“Well,” said I, “James, you are always to stay with me now and we will work together.” Said he, “I stayed in Battle Creek too long. I ought to have gone to California more than one year ago. But I wanted to help the work and institutions at Battle Creek. I have made a mistake. Your heart is tender. You will be inclined to make the same mistakes I have made. Your life can be of use to the cause of God. Oh, those precious subjects the Lord would have had me bring before the people, precious jewels of light!”
I awoke. But this dream seemed so real. Now you can see and understand why I feel no duty to go to Battle Creek for the purpose of shouldering the responsibilities in General Conference. I have no duty to stand in General Conference. The Lord forbids me. That is enough.–Letter 17, 1881, pp. 2-4. (To W. C. White, September 12, 1881.)

I saw that our minds must be stayed upon God,

This is a great part of the work we must do. It is our part of the work of Salvation, and God will not do this work for us. “We should be constantly training the mind to noble, unselfish thoughts. This education is necessary to bring into exercise the powers which God has given us in such a manner as shall best glorify his name upon the earth. We are accountable for all the noble qualities which God has given us, and to put these faculties to a use he never designed we should, is showing base ingratitude to God. The service of God demands the powers of our being, and we fail of meeting the design of God unless we bring to a high state of cultivation the powers of our minds, and educate the mind to love a contemplation of heavenly things, and bring out the energies of the soul, that in exercise it should strengthen, and be ennobled by right actions, operating to the glory of God. p. 90, Para. 2, [16OT].
“ God has required us to bear much fruit. He will not command, without giving with the command power for the performance of it. God will not do our part of the work, neither does he require that we do his. It is God that worketh in us, but we must work out our own salvation with fear and trembling. “Faith without works is dead, being alone.” Faith must be sustained by works. The doers of the work are justified before God. p. 66, Para. 1, [16OT].

and we must not fear the fear of the wicked.

I would encourage you to look around you, in your minds eye, and notice the things the wicked are fearing. We have “a more sure word of prophecy,” and can trust God right to the grave.

Evil angels are around us trying to invent a new way to destroy us. The Lord would lift up a standard against him (the devil). We must take the shield of faith.

Sabbath November 19, 2011

Peter was sent to Cornelius’ home to convert him and his household into the faith. This was a radical thing and disturbed many of the ex-Jews in the church at the first hearing. Upon hearing Peter’s testimony and the testimony from the six brethren, Peter wisely took with him to witness, they praised God for his truth and works among men.

Although God had favored the Jews above all other nations, yet if they rejected light, and did not live up to their profession, they were no more exalted in his esteem than other nations. p. 330, Para. 3, [3SP].

If God brings them in connection with his servants who have received new truth, substantiated by the Word of God, they should accept it with joy. Truth is onward. Truth is upward. p. 331, Para. 1, [3SP].

This work of Peter was in total harmony with the change in dispensations. It was further endorsed by the Holy Ghost which interrupted Peter’s work to pour out upon Cornelius’ household and they all spake with tongues and praised God.

Here again Christ showed his leadership in his church and in the support of all things he ordained should be in his church. He used Peter to preach the Word to Gentiles, then he poured out his Spirit upon their pure faith, then moved Peter to do the next natural thing – baptism.

The descent of the Holy Ghost upon the Gentiles was not an equivalent for baptism. The requisite steps in conversion, in all cases, are faith, repentance, and baptism. Thus the true Christian church are united in one Lord, one faith, one baptism. p. 332, Para. 1, [3SP].

And immediately there was a baptism. All was done in total harmony with everything Christ ordained.

Baptism is a requisite step ordained by God, and Christ took that step also, showing God’s will in the matter. It is very clear that this faith, which the pioneers had, is very different from the faith of the General Conference Seventh-Day Adventist church. James White, in his day, would not even eat lunch with a man who did not believe the Bible (Life Incidents, p. 82), and I doubt he would have given any sort of sanction to the GC for sending B. B. Beach to give honor to the Pope, but rather would have reproved the works of darkness. Ephesians 5:11

This is a different faith. It is the Advent faith. It is the faith of our fathers and the faith once delivered to the saints. And, “The requisite steps in conversion, in all cases, are faith, repentance, and baptism.”  Spalding and Magan, p. 4, declares that some will not make progress until the duty is performed.

If you are floundering in your life, perhaps it is because you have not humbled yourself to follow Christ, even into the water. This was a step I took very early in my experience. I believe many SDAs figure their past baptism will suffice. I would not plan on going into the time of Jacob’s trouble with such a duty not done. You may just find that you are not “united in one Lord, one faith, one baptism.” Pray about it.
