I am not a big fan of long hair on my head. Years ago I had a full beard and long hair. Now it’s short and easy to manage. We know that God cares for us all, to the point that even the hairs on our head are numbered. But today, we are going to discover the real meaning of this verse.

But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.  Matthew 10:30

Using the Bible as it’s own dictionary, we find that like many items, hair can be both good and bad. But first we will look at being numbered.

and that which is wanting cannot be numbered. Ecclesiastes 1:15

and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles. Acts 1:26

But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. James 1:4

Being numbered can only happen if you are “wanting nothing,” and therefore, “perfect and entire.” It is only now, in the last days, that the saints are numbered. And we say, “numbered and sealed.”

Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.  Isaiah 53:12

And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith, And he was numbered with the transgressors.  Mark 15:28

Christ was numbered with sinners.

It appears we may have thought in error about hair.

Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him? But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.  1 Corinthians 11:14,15

We think in this case that nature is bad, it is of this world. Christ has hair down to his shoulders. It is largely the world that thinks men should not have long hair, then, going to a woman, which represents the church, we find that hair is a covering. It is Christ’s righteous character that covers his people.

Behold, thou art fair, my love; behold, thou art fair; thou hast doves’ eyes within thy locks: thy hair is as a flock of goats, that appear from mount Gilead. Song of Solomon 4:1

And thou shalt make curtains of goats’ hair to be a covering upon the tabernacle: eleven curtains shalt thou make. Exodus 26:7

So in some cases hair represents Christ’s righteousness. And you will remember too, that we are the tabernacle of the Holy Ghost.

And just to make a small addition to peg words.

It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.  Psalms 118:8

It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes.  Psalms 118:9

The following passages have been taken from No. 29. They are arranged out of normal order, to suit my feelings at the moment. There are some large weight here. Time taken to meditate on the message will aid in fitting you for God’s work. Think about it.

Every man who is striving to overcome, will have his own weaknesses to contend with. But it is so much easier for persons to see the faults of their brethren than to see their own, that they should be much more diligent and critical with themselves than with others. p. 141, Para. 1, [29OT].

All the members of the church, if they are sons and daughters of God, will have to undergo a process of discipline before they can be lights in the world. God will not make men and women channels of light while they are in darkness and are content to remain so, making no special efforts to connect with the Source of light. Those who feel their own need, and arouse themselves to the deepest thought, and the most earnest, persevering prayer and action, will receive divine aid. There is much for each to unlearn with respect to himself, as well as much to learn. Old habits and customs must be shaken off; and it is only by earnest struggles to correct these errors, and a full reception of the truth in carrying out its principles, by the grace of God, that the victory can be gained. p. 141, Para. 2, [29OT].

I wish I could speak words which would impress us all that our only hope as individuals is to connect with God. Purity of soul must be obtained; and there is much heart-searching to be done, and much obstinacy and self-love to be overcome, which will require constant, earnest prayer. p. 141, Para. 3, [29OT].

The world is to be warned of its coming doom. The slumbers of those who are lying in sin and error are so deep, so death-like, that the voice of God through a wide-awake ministry is needed to awaken them. Unless the ministers are converted, the people will not be. The cold formalism that is now prevailing among us must give place to the living energy of experimental godliness. There is no fault with the theory of the truth; it is perfectly clear and harmonious. But young ministers may speak the truth fluently, and yet have no real sense of the words they utter. They do not appreciate the value of the truth they present, and little realize what it has cost those, who, with prayers and tears, through trial and opposition, sought for it as for hid treasures. Every new link in the chain of truth was to them as precious as tried gold. These links are now united in a perfect whole. Truths have been dug out of the rubbish of superstition and error, by earnest prayer for light and knowledge, and have been presented to the people as precious pearls of priceless value. p. 85, Para. 2, [29OT].

The gospel is a revelation to man of beams of light and hope from the eternal world. All the light does not burst upon us at once, but as we can bear it. Inquiring minds that hunger for the knowledge of God’s will are never satisfied; the deeper they search, the more they sense their ignorance, and deplore their blindness. It is beyond the power of man to conceive the high and noble attainments that are within his reach, if he will combine human effort with the grace of God, who is the Source of all wisdom and all power. And there is an eternal weight of glory beyond. “Eye hath not seen nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.” p. 86, Para. 1, [29OT].

There are deep mysteries in the word of God, which will never be discovered by minds that are unaided by the Spirit of God. There are also unsearchable mysteries in the plan of redemption, which finite minds can never comprehend. Inexperienced youth might better tax their minds and exercise their ability to gain an understanding of matters that are revealed; for unless they possess more spiritual enlightenment than they now have, it would take a life-time to learn the revealed will of God. When they have cherished the light they already have, and made a practical use of it, they will be able to take a step forward. God’s providence is a continual school, in which he is ever leading men to see the true aims of life. None are too young, and none too old, to learn in this school, by paying diligent heed to the lessons taught by the divine Teacher. He is the true Shepherd, and he calls his sheep by name. By the wanderers his voice is heard, saying, “This is the way walk ye in it.” p. 83, Para. 1, [29OT].

A religious experience is attained only through conflict, through disappointment, through severe discipline of self, through earnest prayer. Living faith must grasp the promises unflinchingly, and then many may come from close communion with God with shining faces, saying, as did Jacob, “I have seen the Lord face to face, and my life is preserved.” p. 84, Para. 1, [29OT].

The steps upward to Heaven must be taken one at a time; every advance step strengthens us for the next. The transforming power of the grace of God upon the human heart is a work which but few comprehend, because they are too indolent to make the necessary effort. … Those who choose to gather doubts, and unbelief, and skepticism, will experience no growth in grace or spirituality, and are unfitted for the solemn responsibility of bearing the truth to others. p. 85, Para. 1, [29OT].

Wonderful indeed are God’s words and works! He is the true author of both the Bible and the authentic Spirit of Prophecy. Yesterday’s post revealed another facet of that beautiful harmony that exists between the two.

It also reveals that beautiful relationship of position assigned by God to each of these two great works. This is shown in the following passage.

It is because you have neglected to acquaint yourselves with God’s inspired Book that he has sought to reach you by simple, direct testimonies, calling your attention to the words of inspiration you had neglected to obey, and urging you to fashion your lives in accordance with its pure and elevated teachings. The Lord deigns to warn you, to reprove, to counsel, through the testimonies given, and to impress your minds with the importance of the truth of his word. The written testimonies are not to give new light; but to impress with vividness upon the heart the truths of inspiration already revealed. Man’s duty to God and to his fellow-man has been distinctly specified in God’s word; yet but few of you are obedient to the light given. Additional truth is not brought out; but God has through the testimonies simplified the great truths already given, and in his own chosen way brought them before the people, to awaken and impress the mind with them, that all may be left without excuse. p. 44, Para. 1, [20OT].

Therefore yesterday’s post revealed this great and beautiful harmony between the Bible and the authentic Spirit of Prophecy, through the hidden treasure, confirming yet another item in the 1858 Great Controversy, on page 195. Praise God!!!

In meditating on this, some other thoughts came to me (is this not the instruction of the Lord? and how he works with us? Amen!). David took five stones. We have already identified that these are, or represent the five angels of Revelation 14, verses 6, 8, 9, 15 & 18.

I noted that David collected all five stones and put them in his bag. Verse 49, of the story, tells us that David put his hand into the bag at the time needed, and took out a stone for immediate use.

The importance of this, is that any one of the stones could do the job. Therefore they are equal in this respect. All are God’s word. That only one was used is proof of the power of God’s word, the message then given, against God’s enemy, Satan and his agents.

All these things were written for the teaching of that portion of the 144,000 that should be living at the time of the giving of that particular message.

And here is an interesting point. That message, when given, sinks into the minds of Satan’s agents and paralyzes them from taking harmful action against the saints. This is the wonderful power of God, working for the salvation of souls, restraining Satan’s power so that the truth can be placed before such as should be saved.

For their rock is not as our Rock, even our enemies themselves being judges.  Deuteronomy 32:31

And just because we have not plumbed the true depth of the acted parable of David and Goliath, we want to mark another point in this most wonderful story. That stone keeps coming back into focus! Wonderful are God’s words! Created for our learning upon whom the ends of the world are come!

That stone represents a smooth Jacob, and a message, as given by people doing the particular work illustrated by the angels of Revelation 14. Those people are the 144,000 and they cause the spiritual death of Satan’s agents, for his agents have only lies.

Now the truth of the message “sunk into his forehead,” we are told, in the KJV. Time to check up on what a “forehead” is in God’s dictionary.

Behold, I have made
thy    face      strong against their faces, and
thy forehead strong against their foreheads. Ezekiel 3:8

a man’s wisdom maketh his face to shine, Ecclesiastes 8:1

As in water face answereth to face, so the heart of man to man. Proverbs 27:19

but the LORD shall give thee there a trembling heart, and failing of eyes, and sorrow of mind:  Deuteronomy 28:65

And I will raise me up a faithful priest, that shall do according to that which is in mine heart and in my mind: 1 Samuel 2:35

and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: 1 Chronicles 28:9

they have made their faces harder than a rock;

they have refused to return. Jeremiah 5:3

This one is a bit more complex. First we discover that face is the same thing as forehead. Then we discover that it is tied in to man’s heart. And heart leads us to mind.

Now we can go back to the bad guy, Goliath, and we discover through the hidden treasure that it is the people delivering the loud cry, whose words are God’s words, that “sunk” into the minds of Satan’s agents, paralyzing them from taking any action.

Hummm….. I am being reminded of something….
This is very interesting….. Hummmm…..
Let’s see here…..

The light that was shed upon the waiting ones penetrated everywhere, and those who had any light in the churches, who had not heard and rejected the three messages, answered to the call, and left the fallen churches. Many had come to years of accountability since these messages had been given, and the light shone upon them, and they were privileged to choose life or death. Some chose life, and took their stand with those looking for their Lord, and keeping all his commandments. The third message was to do its work; all were to be tested upon it, and the precious ones were to be called out from the religious bodies. A compelling power moves the honest, while the manifestation of the power of God holds in fear and restraint relatives and friends, and they dare not, neither have they power to, hinder those who feel the work of the Spirit of God upon them. The last call is carried even to the poor slaves, and the pious among them, with humble expressions, pour forth their songs of extravagant joy at the prospect of their happy deliverance, and their masters cannot check them; for a fear and astonishment keep them silent. Mighty miracles are wrought, the sick are healed, and signs and wonders follow the believers. God is in the work, and every saint, fearless of consequences, follows the convictions of his own conscience, and unites with those who are keeping all the commandments of God; and they sound abroad the third message with power. I saw that the third message would close with power and strength far exceeding the midnight cry. p. 195, Para. 1, [1SG].

And, behold, two of them went that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was from Jerusalem about threescore furlongs. Luke 24:13

The walk to Emmaus for the two disciples was a very commonplace event, only this day this common became very uncommon and a study for such as should be saved. Jesus himself joined them in the walk on that day and patiently listened to their thoughts.

And at the right time, he had had enough, and said this to them.

Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken: Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory? And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself. Luke 24:25-27

Verse 32 mentions that Christ “opened to us the scriptures.” This is our only hope. To have Christ “open to us the scriptures.” Because Laodicea has no heart to obey the light, they seek not to have Christ open the scriptures to them.

Later that same night Christ met again with them, this time with several more of the disciples. He again did the same thing.

Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, Luke 24:45

We will not be able to correctly understand God’s word until he opens our understanding, only then will we understand.

Anyone can read the Bible, they can even learn parts of the hidden treasure, but to correctly understand what God wants to communicate, none can, until he opens our minds.

Notice that with the two Christ rebuked their unbelief. He called them fools! They were too slow to believe! Later on, in a meeting with the others, they also were unbelieving! No wonder then that this question is asked.

Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth? Luke 18:8

We need to learn to believe in these last days, more so than ever before.

Health reform. How many people hate it. That second sentence has a double meaning. Question is, where do you fit in?

I come again to Christians. If all who profess — to obey the law of God were free from iniquity, my soul would be relieved; but they are not. Even some who profess to keep all the commandments of God are guilty of the sin of adultery. What can I say to arouse the benumbed sensibilities? Moral principle strictly carried out, becomes the only safeguard of the soul. If ever there was a time when the diet should be of the most simple kind, it is now. Meat should not be placed before our children. Its influence is to excite and increase the force of the lower passions and has a tendency to deaden the moral or higher powers. Grains and fruits prepared free from grease, and in as natural a condition as possible, should be the food for the tables of all who claim to be preparing for translation to Heaven. The less feverish the diet, the more easily can the passions be controlled. The gratification of taste should not be consulted irrespective of physical, intellectual, or moral health. p. 191, Para. 3, [17OT].

Indulgence of the baser passions will lead very many to shut their eyes to the light; for they fear they shall see sins which they are unwilling to forsake. All may see if they will. If they choose darkness rather than light, their criminality will be none the less. Why do not men and women read, and become intelligent upon these things, which so decidedly affect their physical, intellectual, and moral strength? God has given you a habitation to care for, and preserve in the best condition for his service and glory. Your bodies are not your own. “What! know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost, which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.” “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.” p. 192, Para. 1, [17OT].

Other places in the Testimonies add vegetables to the fruits and grains. Grease is animal fat, not vegetable oil.

The 144,000 ask for light for the purpose of obeying it. They seek for truth for the purpose of obeying it. Knocking on every door they can, looking for that opening that they should walk through.

And so it is with health reform. It should be approached intelligently and with care. Sudden shocks to the system are difficult to overcome, the more so, the more age.

I’ll tell you something I found of great help, quite recently. I take an average banana, well ripened, mash it up to a lumpy cream in a mixing bowl. Throw in a robust handful of raisins. Chop up, not too fine, another handful of English walnuts, to follow the raisins. Then I add about one half cup of medium grind wheat flour. Sprinkle a pinch of sea salt onto the flour and commence mixing the lot by spoon.

No water is added, the moisture from the banana is all I use. After a little vigorous stirring I have a very wet lump of dough with lots of raisins and nuts throughout. Having pre-heated the oven to 350 or so, I pan the dough, smooth it flat to about 3/8 inch thickness, quarter the flat with the edge of the spoon and enter the oven heat with it.

Now I turn down the heat to about 275 – 250 and go back to my study or work for about 30 minutes. You might wish to take a fork and cut off a piece for testing as the baking progresses.

The object with the baking time for this article comes in three parts. First, we are about bringing the temperature of the article to 195 degrees F at a minimum. All wheat products should reach this temperature to cause the starch molecules to explode, spilling out the formerly bound up sugars. This makes them easier to digest.

Next, we want to dry up the mashed bananas. I really like dried bananas, in fact, “fresh” dried from the dryer, still warm, they taste like candy! The more so as you know they are totally healthy!

The third thing to accomplish is not burning the raisins. I do not like the taste of burned raisins at all. This is a big reason to lower the temperature and lengthen the time. After that, it’s your preference, hence the testing of the item as it progresses, especially the first one.

This item is very fast, healthy and keeps in the fridge till you are ready to warm up. Both you and the bread. 😉 I leave the moisture content quite high as this also prevents a too dry warmed up item. Give it a try!

There is lots of room to experiment. I do make my own regular, yeast raised bread also.

Testimony No. 2, as it is currently available, is subtitled “The Two Ways.” Perhaps you have read it before, it’s a message for today. It’s all about being a non-conformist.

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Romans 12:2

Remaining separate from the world. That is what God requires of his people.

While reading this Testimony I came across this passage.

Jesus is coming, and will he find a people conformed to the world? And will he acknowledge them as his people? Oh, no. None but the pure and holy will he acknowledge as his. Those that have been purified and made bright through suffering, and have kept themselves separate, unspotted from the world, he will own as his. p. 19, Para. 2, [2OT].

I could not help but be captivated by the use of the word “bright.” What was meant by this? Knowing that God is the author of both the Bible and the authentic Spirit of Prophecy, I decided to use the proper dictionary for spiritual words, the Bible, and see if I could discover a definition for this word.

Using e-Sword’s “regular expressions” option, 50 verses are tagged with one using the word twice. I have not studied this out in it’s entirety. The first part of the hit list contain entries dealing with a clear link to leprosy, a bad thing. Many words can be either good or bad. We are going to look at the good, as that is where the above passage points.

For Zion’s sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth. Isaiah 62:1

Seems like we covered something about a burning lamp the other day…..

As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, and like the appearance of lamps: it went up and down among the living creatures; and the fire was bright, and out of the fire went forth lightning. Ezekiel 1:13

Then I beheld, and lo a likeness as the appearance of fire: from the appearance of his loins even downward, fire; and from his loins even upward, as the appearance of brightness, as the colour of amber. Ezekiel 8:2

And his brightness was as the light; he had horns coming out of his hand: and there was the hiding of his power. Habakkuk 3:4

WOW!!! These verses just lay the truth out so plainly! We know that of those who have heard this message, since October 22, 1844, only 144,000 will be saved; so the above passage is speaking to them.

This passage is admonishing the 144,000 to embrace suffering, properly endured, it helps them to be made God’s word, bright!

I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star. Revelation 22:16

In this text Christ plainly states that he is the bright!

Sabbath November 24, 2012

We currently understand, that God led us to the hidden treasure for the purpose of sealing us as a part of the 144,000, who will live through, or at least into, the loud cry, which will largely be comprised of the hidden treasure brought to the fore, for the explicit purpose of exposing the false foundations of all the institutions of the world, but especially the those of the false churches.

It is imperative that you answer to this drawing of the Father to purify your self in preparation for the final events.

Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.  James 4:8

We must be overcomers as Christ overcame.

Him that overcometh will I make a pillar [definition of the 144,000] in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name [hidden treasure – word] of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem [definition of the 144,000], which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name. He that hath an ear, let him hear [receive instruction] what the Spirit saith unto the churches. Revelation 3

If we are to be God’s word in the world, proclaiming the same truths about the wickedness of the church leaders that Christ did while he was on earth, then it’s easy to understand why it is that we must be without fault before the throne.

I want to urge you to read the first 71 pages of Testimonies No. 23. I believe it to be one connected presentation dealing with some special and important points relative to the relationship of the 144,000 to the SDA church.

In particular, the revival of the living testimony. Read the first paragraph of page 197 in the 1858 Great Controversy. There you will discover that the living testimony was revived, meaning before the close of probation. We believe that all the spiritual gifts will be poured out on the remnant of the 144,000, probably just before the loud cry.

The living testimony is the voice of truth, the voice of the hidden treasure, calling on the Achan’s to give God the glory, just like Joshua did in his day. The 144,000 will be a pure group, a pure church. They will be in perfect harmony with each other, no matter where they are located. They will be helping and encouraging each other, just like shown in No. 20, pages 28 -32. It’s an excellent read.

And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets: Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens. Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection: And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment: They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented; (Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth. And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise: God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect. Hebrews 11:32-40

Nay, but they with us will be made perfect, at the end of the gospel dispensation, at the resurrection when call us all from the grave to join “the living saints, 144,000 in number.”

Time for a review of what we have learned about God’s word.

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. Psalms 119:105

Using this text as our launch pad, mostly because it is so well known, God gives us two definitions for his word. Lamp and light.

Moving from that to other directions, we found a lamp in Genesis 15:17 that was “burning.” Then we discovered that Christ defined John the Baptist as a “burning and a shining light.” Which makes John the Baptist God’s word.

He also was a representative of the 144,000 and this makes them also God’s word. Then we explored some of the texts that clearly show God’s word in his people. The language used is intense. It is pointed and explicit, leaving little room for any mis—understanding.

As an SDA I was taught IMPLICITLY (and I must say, that these words from http://www.thefreedictionary.com/ states my understanding perfectly, “1. Implied or understood though not directly expressed: an implicit agreement not to raise the touchy subject.”), that all things “spirit” were best left to the pastor to handle, otherwise things could easily get out of control and messy. Besides, virtually all who brought up the subject were quickly put down, and it was not usually a soft landing.

My perspective is that this matter of God’s word being his people, acts like a dividing line between believers and nonbelievers. It opens each soul to the truth of their standing before God. The 144,000 are spoken of as being “without fault before the throne of God.” This is God’s word, for it is without fault also.

Coming before God knowing we are sinners, seeing this standard of perfection before us, we shrink inside. How can God possibly propose to do this!? This is unthinkable. Some struggle to create a “respectable” way out. Others, the few, cling to God’s word, knowing it is pure, that “in him is no darkness at all.”

This is God drawing you to himself.

No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him:  John 6:44

The 144,000 are drawn by the Father. Many others are also but something happens.

Bro. —-, you are not as these men, We would not compare you to them; but we would say, Beware of walking in their footsteps, and of having your conversation with covetousness. This desire to obtain means for selfish purposes, by ministers, is a snare to them, which if they continue in, will prove their overthrow. As they get their eyes upon self, their interest in the prosperity of God’s cause, and their love for poor souls, become less and less. They do not lose their love for, and interest in, the truth at once. It is a gradual work. Their departure from the cause of right is gradual and imperceptible, so much so that it is frequently difficult to tell the time when the change in them took place. I think your course highly dangerous. You have not felt the necessity of heeding the light God has given you, and arousing yourself to save your household, and acquiting yourself as a father and priest of your household. You did not deny the light given you. You did not rise up against it. But you neglected to carry it out, because it was not convenient, and agreeable to your feelings, to do this. Therefore you were like Meroz. You came not up to the help of the Lord, although the matter was of such vital consequence as to effect the eternal interests of your children. You neglected your duty. You were in this respect a slothful servant. You have but little sense of how God regards the neglect of parents to discipline their children. Had you reformed here, you would have seen the necessity of the same effort to maintain discipline and order in the church. Your slackness, that has been manifested in your family, has been seen in your labors in the church. You cannot build up the church until you are a transformed man. The neglect of the light that God has given you, has, in a degree, made you captive; subject to Satan’s devices; therefore a door has been left open for him to gain access to you in other directions, and make you a weak man. Satan sees he has made a success of blinding your eyes to the interests of your family, in leading you to neglect the light the Lord has given. Satan has beset you in another direction. He has excited your love of traffic, your love of gain; and by doing this, your interest has been divided from the cause and work of God. The love of God and the truth is gradually becoming of less importance. Souls for whom Christ died are of less value to you than your temporal interests. If you pursue the course you have, you will soon become jealous, and sensitive, and envious, and will go away from the truth as others have gone. p. 74, Para. 1, [20OT].

John the Baptist separated himself, because he was serious about spiritual realities. No one will ever be compelled to be in Heaven or be one of God’s people. All will be there by their own continually free choice.

It is a continually free choice to side with God, to yield to his drawing, to be his word in an evil world. As soon as we make a different choice, the word leaves.

We must keep separate from the world, if we would have the love of God abide with us. As soon as we begin to be conformed to this world, just so soon God’s Spirit begins to depart from us. [R&H, June 10, 1852]

Suddenly other texts are coming in, O so clear…..

At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.  John 14:20

But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak. For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.  Matthew 10

And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.  John 14

Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.  If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.  If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.  John 15

But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.   And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.  Romans 8:11

Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?  1 Corinthians 3:16

What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?  1 Corinthians 6:19

And thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest; and so falling down on his face he will worship God, and report that God is in you of a truth.  1 Corinthians 14:25

Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?  2 Corinthians 13:5

One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.  Ephesians 4:6

Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:  Philippians 2:5

To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:  Colossians 1:27

I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.  1 John 2:14

Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.  1 John 4:4

How can these things be? Because God says it is so.

For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge [hidden treasure] of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,  Hebrews 10:26

These be those who get off the strait and narrow path.
