I have read many suppositions, postulations, ideas, theories, &c., from man, trying to encompass the idea of how the firstfruits work in the plan of salvation. This characteristic of the 144,000, our sixth for study, appears to be something we are to keep in mind as an encouragement.

Here are the texts I found to be useful. Perhaps you will find more.

Israel was holiness unto the LORD, and the firstfruits of his increase: all that devour him shall offend; evil shall come upon them, saith the LORD.  Jeremiah 2:3
As for the oblation of the firstfruits, ye shall offer them unto the LORD: but they shall not be burnt on the altar for a sweet savour.  Leviticus 2:12
And the priest shall wave them with the bread of the firstfruits for a wave offering before the LORD, with the two lambs: they shall be holy to the LORD for the priest.  Leviticus 23:20
For in mine holy mountain, in the mountain of the height of Israel, saith the Lord GOD, there shall all the house of Israel, all of them in the land, serve me: there will I accept them, and there will I require your offerings, and the firstfruits of your oblations, with all your holy things.  Ezekiel 20:40
For if the firstfruit be holy, the lump is also holy: and if the root be holy, so are the branches.  Romans 11:16
But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.  1 Corinthians 15:20
Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.  James 1:18

We see that the firstfruits were an oblation, which I have not studied yet. They are also a wave offering; they are holy, as is the whole “lump,” which seems to me to be a figure of the “great multitude which no man could number” for certainly they also will be holy.

Jesus regarded these Greeks as representatives of the Gentiles at large. In them he discerned the first-fruits of an abundant harvest, when all nations, tongues, and people upon the face of the earth should hear the glad tidings of salvation through Christ. He saw that the gathering of the Gentiles was to follow his approaching death. He therefore presented to his disciples and to the listening crowd the figure of the wheat, to represent how his death would be productive of a great harvest. If he should draw back from the sacrifice of his life, he would abide alone, like the kernel of wheat that did not die; but if he should give up his life, he would, like the kernel of wheat that fell into the ground, rise again as the first-fruits of the great harvest; and he, the Life-giver, would call the dead that were united with him by faith from the graves, and there would be a glorious harvest of ripe grain for the heavenly garner. In the gospel of the death and resurrection of Christ, and the resurrection of the dead, life and immortality are brought to light, and the kingdom of Heaven is thrown open to all believers. p. 74, Para. 3, [3SP].

Jesus was the first-fruits of them that slept. When he came forth from the tomb he called a multitude from the dead, thus settling forever the long-disputed question of the resurrection. In raising this multitude of captives from the dead, he gives evidence that there will be a final resurrection of those who sleep in Jesus. The believers in Christ thus receive the very light they want in regard to the future life of the pious dead. p. 192, Para. 2, [3SP].

He [Christ] is seated by the side of his Father on his throne. The Saviour presents the captives he has rescued from the bonds of death, at the price of his own life. His hands place immortal crowns upon their brows; for they are the representatives, and samples, of those who shall be redeemed, by the blood of Christ, from all nations, tongues, and people, and come forth from the dead, when he shall call the just from their graves at his second coming. Then shall they see the marks of Calvary in the glorified body of the Son of God. Their greatest joy will be found in the presence of Him who sitteth on the throne; and the enraptured saints will exclaim, My Beloved is mine, and I am his! He is the chief among ten thousand, and altogether lovely! p. 253, Para. 2, [3SP ].

Until today I had believed that these, the ones taken to Heaven, were firstfruits, but in this definitive passage, there is no mention of them being such. It is Christ that is called the firstfruits of all the redeemed. Perhaps these are the twenty-four elders? This would be in perfect harmony with Crosier’s article “The Law of Moses” where he states that those twenty-four elders represent the whole Christian church. Very interesting.

After filling the vacancy in the apostolic number, the disciples gave their time to meditation and prayer, being often in the temple, testifying of Christ, and praising God. The Pentecost was a feast celebrated seven weeks after the passover. Upon these occasions the Jews were required to repair to the temple and to present the first-fruits of all the harvest, thus acknowledging their dependence on the great Giver of all good, and their obligation to render back to God, in gifts and offerings to sustain his cause, that which he had intrusted to them. On this day of divine appointment, the Lord graciously poured out his Spirit on the little company of believers, who were the first-fruits of the Christian church. p. 265, Para. 1, [3SP].

That these should be called firstfruits also is a mystery to me. How many firstfruits are there?

In another item that has come to my attention, I feel to explain my understanding of it. Here is the quote, from the counterfeit.

We have nothing to fear for the future, except as we shall forget the way the Lord has led us, and his teaching in our past history.  {GCDB, January 29, 1893 par. 5}

To be a counterfeit at all, it must contain some truth. The great question is, “Did Ellen write this or not?” In all probability, we will never know. Until the White Estate releases the original hand-written by Ellen papers, we will not know. I doubt they will ever release them. Until they do, all they really have is a h o l l o w claim. “Trust us,” they say. But that has not worked out too well, as this site abundantly proves.

The quotation to me is no different than anyone standing up and saying, “God is Lord of all.” It is truth, but that does not mean Ellen wrote it. Her name appended or not.

The next characteristically defining phrase about the 144,000 we are looking at is, “follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth.” I did not find any definition for the word “follow” at this time. Maybe later I’ll see one. But in thinking about this word, it appears to be so important that perhaps there is only one definition. Maybe this is part of removing all excuse from those who do not.

The rest of the terms in the phrase are self-explanatory. The “Lamb” being Christ, and “whithersoever” being anywhere.

We know that when Christ left earth he entered his priestly work in the Holy place of the heavenly temple. Christ’s followers followed him by faith, into the temple. When they prayed, they prayed to him in the Holy place. Christ’s followers continued this practice for the next 1800 years. Then, on October 22, 1844, they again followed Christ into the Most Holy place.

Since that time, Christ’s true followers pray to him in the Most Holy place. They participate in the great anti-typical Day of Atonement services, confessing their sins to the High Priest that he might blot them out of the book with his own blood.

This brings us to the third angel’s message of Revelation 14.

And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand,  10  The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:  11  And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.  12  Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.  13  And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.

Traditionally the third angel’s message stops at the 12th verse, but in the light of these past 168 years, I place the 13th verse with it. For it is the book works that do follow them and we, reading such, are instructed in the true faith of Philadelphia.

14  And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle.  15  And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe.

On page 12 of “A Word to the Little Flock” God tells his patently waiting saints, that it is they, who are the fulfillment of the angel of Revelation 14:15. Thus we see that the 144,000 have followed the Lamb everywhere he has gone, by faith, for they are depicted as following him out of the temple.

These things are tied in with Revelation 18.

And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory.  2  And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.  3  For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.  4  And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. Revelation 18:1-4

The phrase “having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory” is full of hidden treasure meaning. It appears that the latter portion of the 144,000 will even exceed the beginning portion of the church of Philadelphia. This is how God talks about that beginning portion.

A spirit of solemn and earnest prayer was everywhere felt by the saints. A holy solemnity was resting upon them. Angels with the deepest interest had watched the result, and were elevating those who received the heavenly message, and were drawing them from earthly things to obtain large supplies from salvation’s fountain. [this is the hidden treasure] 1858 Great Controversy, p. 142

We believe the latter portion of the 144,000 will have a far greater understanding of the hidden treasure, and it is these and their understanding, that is the power, combined with God’s power, which will fully expose the false foundations the world and all it’s institutions are built upon; then all will be exposed to the truth and can make a clear decision.

We actually covered this one at the beginning of probing into the 144,000. It is the one that got me started. Then I decided to bring some order to this subject, it might make a good article for students. Oh well, everything has to have a beginning somewhere, at least for man.

The 144,000 are identified as virgins, which, as discovered yesterday, is because they are not defiled with any un-scriptural church organization. The church organization Heaven approves of is New Testament Gospel Order. This is an organization that follows the  pattern of the way the disciples started the new church, under the guidance and leading of the Holy Ghost.

There is a whole section on this New Testament Gospel Order, found, beginning on page 15, in the Supplement to the Christian Experience and Views. Recommended reading for all believers.

Interestingly the whole tribe of Levi, from which the priests were taken, were required to take only a virgin as a wife.

This is the word that the LORD hath spoken concerning him; The virgin the daughter of Zion hath despised thee, and laughed thee to scorn; the daughter of Jerusalem hath shaken her head at thee.  2 Kings 19:21

This text is repeated twice, the second time in Isaiah 37:22. It is a clear definition of just who God is defining the 144,000 as. And while we are looking at these things, I noticed the other day a text about Abraham; he is called “the  father of us all,” in Romans 4:16; apparently the reason all the saved are called the nation of Israel and the 144,000 are “from” the twelve tribes.

Because of the savour of thy good ointments thy name is as ointment poured forth, therefore do the virgins love thee.  Song of Solomon 1:3

This text is total hidden treasure. A quick paraphrase: Because of the excellent taste of the bread from your table, O God, your name is this hidden treasure to instruct the 144,000.

Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.  Isaiah 7:14

We know this text is about Mary and Jesus, but I was intrigued with the possibilities, a, “What if?” question. There are a few texts that appear to be using the figure of a woman giving birth to a man-child, for the time of Jacob’s trouble. It’s “as if” God’s true church is, in the person of the 144,000, giving birth to that nation that shall be born in a day. Isaiah 66

Therefore thou shalt say this word unto them; Let mine eyes run down with tears night and day, and let them not cease: for the virgin daughter of my people is broken with a great breach, with a very grievous blow.  Jeremiah 14:17
Therefore thus saith the LORD; Ask ye now among the heathen, who hath heard such things: the virgin of Israel hath done a very horrible thing.  Jeremiah 18:13
The Lord hath trodden under foot all my mighty men in the midst of me: he hath called an assembly against me to crush my young men: the Lord hath trodden the virgin, the daughter of Judah, as in a winepress.  Lamentations 1:15
What thing shall I take to witness for thee? what thing shall I liken to thee, O daughter of Jerusalem? what shall I equal to thee, that I may comfort thee, O virgin daughter of Zion? for thy breach is great like the sea: who can heal thee?  Lamentations 2:13
The virgin of Israel is fallen; she shall no more rise: she is forsaken upon her land; there is none to raise her up.  Amos 5:2

These five verses depict just how far from God “all we like sheep have gone astray.” But God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.  2 Corinthians 11:2

Paul expresses his heart, which is bound up with Christ’s. God has a people that do believe the truth and separate themselves from the world and take the path, high and lifted up.

A realizing sense of the huge import of the facts surrounding the 144,000 should impact the faith of every believer. They are the only ones who will be saved, of all who have been tested by the true Advent message since October 22, 1844.

Now there are a great many of SDAs who have never even heard of the true Advent message. By the leadership, the Advent message is considered to be something like “a group of people who founded the church, but were wrong on a great many things, which is why we do them differently now.”

The Advent message is properly considered to have started with the preaching of the first angel’s message by William Miller, on August 7, 1831. From that date, through to the great disappointment of October 22, 1844, the Advent message was a pure message. It fulfilled prophecy as shown by the first and second angel’s messages of Revelation 14.

This was the birthing of the church of Philadelphia. All those who made up this group either left their former church or were kicked out; they had no formal church. They were in the same position as the first Christians, and they had the same church organization. They were a true Christian church, having Christ for their only true leader.

This brings us to today’s characteristic of the 144,000, “not defiled with women.”

We will examine the word “defiled” first. Remember too, God has chosen every word in the Bible, and every word is pure, “God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.”

Moreover thou shalt not lie carnally with thy neighbour’s wife, to defile thyself with her.  Leviticus 18:20

Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled. They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.  Titus 1:15-16

To get defiled is to lie carnally with a woman. It is also being disobedient. Now we will look at “women.”

And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.  Revelation 12:17

And the woman which thou sawest is that great city [Babylon], which reigneth over the kings of the earth.  Revelation 17:18

A woman can be either a pure church or an impure church.

To paraphrase what we have found, it might look like this….

The 144,000 do not attend other impure churches to seek truth, or any other reason, lest they become defiled with their teachings of the subtle deceptions of Satan and become warped in mind and conscience, even to think they are right when they are totally wrong, and at the last discover that they were even disobedient to Christ, hypocrites before God.

And one more point. To lie carnally with another church is to accept their defiled bread, their bible translation and carnal worldly wisdom, knowledge and understanding, which destroys the possibility of entering that hidden treasure “rest” of Hebrews 4.

Remember the tree in the middle of the garden of Eden? It was a tree of knowledge, both of good and evil, the fruit thereof is not good. And Eve, a woman, went to that tree and sought knowledge. Very shortly she was calling the fruit “good for food,” DANGER!!!!! This is what the SDA woman has done. She is calling the fruit “good for food!”

Most of the churches schools are “accredited.” Do you know what that means? If it’s so important, why is it that Stanford, Harvard and Yale are not accredited? Think it is not so? Get on the phone and call them up, ask them, see what they say.

Be careful where you search for knowledge!

Sunday October 28, 2012

Our second defining characteristic, from Thursday’s post, is “them which were sealed.” In looking for a definition of this, it appears we will be limited to the word “sealed.”

I searched on the word “seal” and chose the option “Regular Expressions” and we have 56 verses with that root word or some form of it. This word can be classed as a “Gerund,” meaning that it can function as noun or as a verb, an action word. In our phrase under study, it functions as a verb, as the 144,000 are acted upon. So in this case, we want to understand what this action really means; we want to understand this action the way God defines it.

My transgression is sealed up in a bag, and thou sewest up mine iniquity.  Job 14:17

sealed up = sewest up

His scales are his pride, shut up together as with a close seal.  Job 41:15

shut up together = a close seal

A garden inclosed is my sister, my spouse; a spring shut up, a fountain sealed.  Song of Solomon 4:12

inclosed = shut up = sealed

Bind up the testimony, seal the law among my disciples.  Isaiah 8:16

bind up = seal

Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book  Daniel 12:4

shut up = seal

for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.  Daniel 12:9

closed up = sealed

and made the sepulchre sure, sealing the stone, and setting a watch.  Matthew 27:66

sure = sealing

and shut him up, and set a seal upon him Revelation 20:3

shut up = seal up

Now we have a better idea of how God wants us to understand this sealing process. You should try and paraphrase the found words into the text. See if they make any difference in your understanding.

Sabbath October 27, 2012

We have been working on the definition of the 144,000 shown as “ the servants of our God.” I have placed a sampling of texts here, which I believe show that this definition places the 144,000 with all God’s people, from all time. Perhaps to point up the total unity of all God’s people.

fear not, for I am with thee, and will bless thee, and multiply thy seed for my servant Abraham‘s sake.  Genesis 26:24

For unto me the children of Israel are servants; they are my servants whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.  Leviticus 25:55

By the hand of my servant David I will save my people Israel out of the hand of the Philistines, and out of the hand of all their enemies.  2 Samuel 3:18

And unto his son will I give one tribe, that David my servant may have a light alway before me in Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen me to put my name there.  1 Kings 11:36

And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?  Job 1:8

I have found David my servant; with my holy oil have I anointed him:  Psalms 89:20

I am thy servant; give me understanding, that I may know thy testimonies.  Psalms 119:125

Make thy face to shine upon thy servant; and teach me thy statutes.  Psalms 119:135

These last two texts are rather interesting, in that they point up the hidden treasure being delivered to God’s servants.

I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek thy servant; for I do not forget thy commandments.  Psalms 119:176

But thou, Israel, art my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend.  Isaiah 41:8

Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.  Amos 3:7

And sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come.  Matthew 22:3

Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.  John 15:15

And he said unto me, These sayings are faithful and true: and the Lord God of the holy prophets sent his angel to shew unto his servants the things which must shortly be done.  Revelation 22:6

Friday October 26, 2012

Today we are going to take a look at the first characteristic of the 144,000 mentioned in Revelation, for they are called, “The servants of our God.” Using e-Sword, we search on “servant,” but choose “regular expressions” as our search criteria. This allows all forms of the search word to be identified in our results list.

In the very first verse we have an interesting prophecy from Noah.

Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren.  Genesis 9:25

We know that all God’s people are his servants. In this verse Canaan is cursed, to be a servant to God’s people. Today, literal Canaan, like Israel, no longer exists, both are now spiritual. Canaan would represent the wicked.

Looking for more specific items we discover the story of Lot. Here is a post that shows the spiritual connection between the story of Lot and the 144,000. In Genesis 19:19, Lot also identifies himself as a servant of God.

I had thought Moses to be a connection…. “Moses my servant is dead;”  Joshua 1:2 But this is not the case, as he represents the great multitude which no man can number.

JESUS told his disciples that there were some standing with him who should not taste of death till they should see the kingdom of GOD come with power. At the transfiguration this promise was fulfilled. The fashion of JESUS’ countenance was changed, and shone like the sun. His raiment was white and glistening. Moses was present, and represented those who will be raised from the dead at the second appearing of JESUS. And Elias, who was translated without seeing death, represented those who will be changed to immortality at Christ’s second coming, and without seeing death will be translated to heaven. p. 43, Para. 2, [GC58].

The interesting thing about this passage is that from it, it appears there is no representative of those who have “died in faith under the third angel’s message, keeping the Sabbath,” what I would consider to be the first part of the 144,000.

The search continues.

On another note; in the great fictitious book “Ellen White Says” is a quote similar to this, “The youth will finish the work.” I have yet to find the source of this sentence, but I did find it’s opposite in the authentic Spirit of Prophecy.

I have been shown that young men like yourself, who have had but a few years of imperfect experience in the cause of present truth, are not the ones whom God will trust to bear weighty responsibilities, and lead out in this work. Such should manifest a delicacy in taking positions which would conflict with the judgment and opinions of those of mature experience, whose lives have been interwoven with the cause of God nearly as many years as you have lived, and who have had an active part in this work from its small beginning. p. 92, Para. 2, [23OT].
God will not select men of but little experience and considerable self-confidence to lead out in this sacred, important work. There is much here at stake. Men who have but little experience in the sufferings, trials, opposition, and privation that have been endured to bring up the work to its present condition of prosperity, should be very jealous of themselves. p. 92, Para. 3, [23OT].
Young men who now engage in the work of preaching the truth should cultivate modesty and humility. They should be careful how they become exalted, lest they be overthrown. They will be accountable for the clear light of truth which now shines upon them. I saw that God was displeased with the disposition some have, to murmur against those who have fought the heaviest battles for them, and who have endured so much in the commencement of the message, when the work went hard. p. 93, Para. 1, [23OT].
The experienced laborers, who have toiled under the weight and the oppressive burdens, when there were but few to help bear them, God regards. He has, for those who have proved faithful, a jealous care. God is displeased with those who are ready to find fault, and reproach those servants of God who have grown gray in building up the cause of present truth. Your reproaches and your murmurings will surely stand against you in the day of God. As long as God has not laid upon you, young men, heavy responsibilities, do not get out of your place, and rely upon your own independent judgment, and assume responsibilities for which you are not fitted. p. 93, Para. 2, [23OT].

And now you know. . . .

Thursday October 25, 2012

The 144,000 are a distinct group. Of all the saved, these are the only ones saved by count. Check out the 1858 Great Controversy, page 197.

I saw angels hurrying to and fro in heaven. An angel returned from the earth with a writer’s inkhorn by his side, and reported to Jesus that his work was done, that the saints were numbered and sealed. Then I saw Jesus, who had been ministering before the ark containing the ten commandments, throw down the censer. He raised his hands upward, and with a loud voice said, It is done. p. 197, Para. 2, [1SG ].

This means that when the count is done, probation closes. Don’t forget, there will be millions saved who have not heard and rejected the three angel’s messages. But these are not those. For God’s purposes, this group is numbered. We are going to focus on the other characteristics.

2  And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea,
3  Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.
4  And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel. Revelation 7
1  And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father’s name written in their foreheads.
2  And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps:
3  And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth.
4  These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb.
5  And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God. Revelation 14

Here is a list of the key characteristics, of the 144,000, that I find in these texts. Drop me a note if you think I missed one. I’m not perfect ya’ know.

1.) The servants of our God.
2.) Them which were sealed.
3.) Not defiled with women.
4.) Virgins.
5.) Follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth.
6.) The firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb.
7.) No guile in their mouth.
8.) Without fault before the throne.

We don’t know the full implications of each of these, but we will go exploring. This to me is the beautiful thing, it’s so easy to use e-Sword and just go for a trip, see what is out there!

See what you can find. You have a head start on me. Tomorrow we will begin with number 1. We have already done some with 4, that’s because I’m learning here too, you get to watch and see what I’m learning and how.

The gospel message of salvation truly is hidden treasure, hidden from those who will not believe to the saving of their soul. Please take the time to follow this link to Jerry’s site and review the information on that home page. It’s important.

The first angel’s message began August 7, 1831 with William Miller preaching his first sermon. I see that as the sprouting of the seed of the church of Philadelphia. That church grew and developed over time to October 22, 1844, at which point God proclaimed them perfect, ready for translation to Heaven.

God’s people were then accepted with him. Jesus looked upon them with pleasure. His image was reflected in them. They had made a full sacrifice, an entire consecration, and expected to be changed to immortality. 1858 Great Controversy,  p. 142

Though they knew it not, this date was the entry point of the 144,000. It is also the entry point of another item previously not recognized. We have just two days since, posted the “List of Events and Processes the Saints are Living Under” to which this item has been added.

6.)    The Times of Refreshing.Started, October 22, 1844. (Acts 3:19, time for the blotting out of sins and resurgence to perfection of the hidden treasure, the mystery of godliness.)

The text marking this event.

Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; Acts 3:19

Marking the beginning of the great anti-typical Day of Atonement, as an anchoring point, for the beginning also of the times of refreshing. We have seen that the true pioneers of this faith also had a strong grip on the hidden treasure, which is the refreshing.

To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.  Isaiah 28:12

A review of Jerry’s home page (link here) will help put this in perspective.

The hidden treasure takes precedence. This is entering the classroom of the Holy Ghost. This is the preparation the 144,000 need for exposing the false foundations all the worlds systems and churches are founded upon.

We believe that in God’s providence, modern tools to aid our learning, such as e-Sword, have been made available for the use of the saints to enter into the mysteries of godliness.

The net is a powerful tool to communicate with the world, spreading the truth of the hidden treasures into the far corners of the earth at a very low cost.

These tools portend a quick end. We believe growth in the wisdom, knowledge and understanding of God’s word will exceed our best expectation. Our time is the grand focal point of all ages of human history. Everything for 6,000 years has been pointing to our day. Speaking in the language of Canaan all the saints will unite in spirit, though widely scattered.

You can be a part of this burning and shining future, if you will be truly converted.

For the Advent people, it’s the day after. Christ has not come. In the words of James, “The disappointment of the passing of the time was a bitter one. True believers had given up all for Christ, and had shared his presence as never before. …. And now to turn again to the cares, perplexities, and dangers, of life, in full view of the jeers and revilings of unbelievers, who then scoffed as never before, was a terrible trial of faith and patience. But God did not forsake his people.”

No, God did not forsake his people, for it was on this day, 168 years ago, that God gave a vision to his people through Hiram Edson, to show them the true understanding of the prophecies and that Christ had gone into the Most Holy place of the heavenly temple. With the encouragement of this vision and the on-going development of an understanding of the patient waiting time, the Advent people moved on.

The publishing work was established. There are several places scattered throughout the Spirit of Prophecy that points out the importance of this work. The ability of people to have a book to read truth, soul comforting truth, on their schedule, is critical to God’s plan. Throughout the ages it was the printed page that did so much for God’s people; and some died martyrs – over one word.

Today, 168 years after the beginnings of the church of Philadelphia, we follow in their shadows, tracing their aged, bloodied footprints on the beautiful white wall (No. 20, p. 28-32),  the trail, all but aged away.

And the church they started became renown for her beauty (Ezekiel 16), and left her husband, and went a whoring, out after the world. Yet a small remnant is left. And we have searched out the beginning of that trail, whence cometh the light of the midnight cry. “HO!, We found it!” cried the scout. We all with laden wagons began the trail.

We have yet a work before us. It is our work, given to us by God. Some will remain faithful to the end, and of the others, “at every change, some were left behind.”

“Courage! Brother, Courage! Sister, though the night be long, wait.”

God Bless your patient waiting
