There are some interesting parallels between Daniel’s story, and the 144,000. Jerry M. pointed this out to me the other day. Check his site for the latest.

Here are the pertinent texts.

It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom an hundred and twenty princes, which should be over the whole kingdom;  And over these three presidents; of whom Daniel was first: that the princes might give accounts unto them, and the king should have no damage.  Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm.  Then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find none occasion nor fault; forasmuch as he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him.  Then said these men, We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, except we find it against him concerning the law of his God.  Then these presidents and princes assembled together to the king, and said thus unto him, King Darius, live for ever. All the presidents of the kingdom, the governors, and the princes, the counsellors, and the captains, have consulted together to establish a royal statute, and to make a firm decree, that whosoever shall ask a petition of any God or man for thirty days, save of thee, O king, he shall be cast into the den of lions. Daniel 6:1-7

Daniel was a good guy. He worked in a high position in the government. Daniel had “an excellent spirit” or, the hidden treasure. It is this Satan hates the most.

Satan incited Daniel’s co-workers to take evil action against Daniel. Daniel ensured that he formally entered the hidden treasure “rest” three times a day. Daniel was perfect.

The wicked laid a trap for the ruler of the land, he blindly went straight into the trap. In so doing the wicked succeeded in setting a trap for Daniel which should result in his permanent removal, i.e., death.

I’m not sure about the thirty days. Does it have an application? It takes thirty days to do most anything by government.

Of particular note is Daniel’s reaction to the set trap. He walked right straight in, and it snapped shut on him. He was “trapped.”

Also take particular note of God’s counsel to the 144,000 in the words of Christian Experience and Views, 1854.

And those who will not receive the mark of the beast and this image, when the decree goes forth, must have decision now to say, nay, we will not regard the institution of the beast. CEV, p. 55

Apparently this means, when the trap of the Sunday law is passed, the remaining 144,000 will walk straight into the set trap, which will snap shut upon them.

Meanwhile, other SDAs will attempt to convince these “wild-eyed fanatics,” through the use of the counterfeit SOP, that this is a presumptuous action. That now is the time to move to the country (5T465), and get ready for “retired home in secluded places.” These SDAs know not that they are acting the part of Satan, as “an angel of light.”

I believe God created this word. It’s a word that perfectly and uniquely melds an acronym with two other words, to create a perfect description.

We do a lot of talking about the counterfeit SOP on this site. Many come and look, but do not prove. They are willing to accept what the pastor tells them, as fact. This is interesting, especially in the light of this text.

My people hath been lost sheep: their shepherds have caused them to go astray, they have turned them away on the mountains: they have gone from mountain to hill, they have forgotten their restingplace. Jeremiah 50:6

Apparently they have not studied their Bibles either. They will be lost, shut out of Heaven because they refused instruction.

While studying something else, I found this passage. It tells an interesting tale.

Satan is today deceiving many as he attempted to deceive Christ [in the wilderness forty day fast], claiming that he is Heaven-sent and doing a good work for humanity. And the masses of the people are so blinded by sophistry that they cannot discern his true character, and they honor him as a messenger of God, while he is working their eternal ruin. p. 90, Para. 2, [2SP ].

Let’s take a good look at this important passage.

The key word is one I alluded to in the beginning. It is “sophistry.” Taken apart, it reads, “Spirit of Prophecy, his (Satan’s) try.” An acronym and two words. Now we go back and look at this passage through other eyes, and it’s as if there were a double meaning in there. In the creation of a paraphrased version of the above passage, the meaning of this unique word, and it’s use, comes more clear.

Through the counterfeit SOP, Satan is deceiving many, as he attempted to deceive Christ. The counterfeit SOP claims to be Heaven-sent, and many hand out copies of the Desire of Ages, thinking to do a good work for humanity. But the masses of church members are so blinded by the counterfeit SOP that they can not discern it’s true character. They honor Satan as a messenger of God, by using the counterfeit SOP, while he is working their eternal ruin through it’s errors.

Not only is it more clear, the paraphrase suddenly points up the great danger inherent in the counterfeit SOP. Because of the reactions of many who are exposed to the truth, through this site and other means, I believe the counterfeit SOP to be that strong delusion that God sent to the rebellious SDA church.

Sabbath September 29, 2012

We have shown in the past that the Sabbath “rest” of Hebrews is an entering into the hidden treasure of truth. One of the believers did a search on the phrase “word of the Lord” in e-Sword.

I just challenge you to do the same. See what you come up with.

We think the connection to the word “voice” to be very strong. Then in that vein, we have this passage from the Testimonies.

August 22, 1857, at the house of prayer in Monterey, I was shown that many have not yet heard the voice of Jesus, and the saving message has not taken hold of the soul, and worked a reformation in the life. p. 67, Para. 1, [4OT].

This is a direct connection to the hidden treasure. It is the testimony of Jesus which the 144,000 have. Here is the source of their power, their might, their wisdom, knowledge and understanding.

You are invited to the banquet of un-defiled bread, the finest wine, fruits in abundance, beautiful, sparkling water, all presented on a table of the purest gold. All of Heaven’s great ones have feared God at this table. In fact, they sold everything they had to buy a plate.

And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely. Revelation 22:17

It is real.

Friday September 28, 2012

This thing about feeling rich in spiritual discernment, is really big with Laodicea. I have talked with many people who tell me to my face, “It’s ok if I read the counterfeit, I can sort out the good from the bad.” What hubris these people have! It’s small wonder they say, “I have need of nothing.”

So it is that the counterfeit SOP is a test, of sorts. Because when the truth shows up, a decision must be made. I well remember the trauma I experienced when faced with that very decision. Suddenly the rug was pulled out from under my feet! So much of what I counted firm and solid was shown to be shifting sand. I was brought face to face with the fact that I had spent most of my life under a deception, a strong delusion! I chose truth.

Someone sent me a article, a collection of quotes really, and this one was in there.

“Enoch walked with God three hundred years previous to his translation to heaven, and the state of the world was not then more favorable for the perfection of Christian character than it is today. And how did Enoch walk with God? He educated his mind and heart to ever feel that he was in the presence of God, and when in perplexity his prayers would ascend to God to keep him.” Last Day Events, p. 71

This reads so nice. It is well put together, it flows. It’s a beautiful paragraph about Enoch’s life. What’s not to like? It’s so good, it has to be one of those things that Willie didn’t mess with because God had his hand over it, to protect it. Right?

Well, let’s test it. Let’s prove it. We’ll rummage around with the search function and see what we can find.

The father who is the house-band of the family, will bind his children to the throne of God by living faith. Distrusting his own strength, he hangs his helpless soul on Jesus, and takes hold of the strength of the Most High. Brethren, pray at home, in your family, night and morning; pray earnestly, in your closet; and while engaged in your daily — labor, lift up the soul to God in prayer. It was thus that Enoch walked with God. The silent, fervent prayer of the soul will rise like holy incense to a throne of grace, and will be as acceptable to God as if offered in the sanctuary. To all who thus seek him, Christ becomes a present help in time of need. They will be strong in the day of trial. p. 133, Para. 3, [30OT].

Upon comparison, there is only one answer. If you thought the former quote from the counterfeit was good, you, like Eve, have been listening to the serpent. Remember how she looked at that fruit and considered it to be good for food? But that was only after listening to Satan.

The authentic Spirit of Prophecy is the voice of God, not Ellen. “God is light and in him is no darkness at all.” God speaks the truth, Satan speaks a lie.

I think God wants to emphasize the point about prayer. He does so in this next passage.

It is impossible for the soul to flourish while prayer is not a special exercise of the mind. p. 93, Para. 2, [16OT].

It appears that the following passage could have been what the quote from LDE was taken from. It is similar. However, notice well the differences. One is from God, the other is from Satan. Choose wisely, your eternal life is at stake.

Enoch’s case is before us. Hundreds of years he walked with God. He lived in a corrupt age, when moral pollution was teeming all around him. He trained his mind to devotion, to love purity. His conversation was upon heavenly and divine things. He educated his mind to run in this channel, and he bore the impress of the divine. His countenance was lighted up with the light which shineth in the face of Jesus. Enoch had temptations as well as we. He was not surrounded with society any more friendly to righteousness than we. The atmosphere he breathed was tainted with sin and corruption, the same as ours; yet he lived a life of holiness. He was unsullied with the prevailing sins of the age in which he lived. And so may we remain as pure and uncorrupted as did the faithful Enoch. He was a representation of the saints living amid the perils and corruptions of the last days. For his faithful obedience to God, he was translated. So, also, those who are alive and remain, who are faithful, will be translated to Heaven. They will be removed from a sinful and corrupt world to the pure joys of Heaven. p. 13, Para. 1, [16OT].

Do you want life? Do you want spiritual life? Are you satisfied with your spiritual life? Have you stopped watching TV? (It’s not called “programing” for nothing.)

I strongly urge, and encourage you to enter into the “rest” of which Hebrews speaks. It is in part,  the study of the Bible, through allowing the Bible to be it’s own dictionary. This requires spiritual discernment. It is not natural with us. We must go to God, the giver of life, and ask for life, spiritual discernment, that we might “see” the strait and narrow path God would have us travel.

We must leave the Laodicean “state” of mind, and enter into the Philadelphian “state” of mind. Sometimes, in order to change our “state” of mind, we may need to change our physical “state.” In this case, it probably is important to cut off the input of error, evil, wickedness, all of Satan’s offering, so that we create spacetime for God’s offering. Part of this would be refusing to listen to the error proffered by the SDA church of this time.

By taking action on what you can do, you, by your “works,” in faith, show your seriousness about learning truth. God will bless such actions, your “steps” on the path, and will help you grow in grace.

Here is an interesting text to ponder as you traverse this day.

Wherefore thus saith the Holy One of Israel, Because ye despise this word, and trust in oppression and perverseness, and stay thereon: Isaiah 30:12

Here are some definitions to expand your understanding.

Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.  Galatians 3:7
Israel = children of Abraham = you (if you are in the faith)

Is it good unto thee that thou shouldest oppress, that thou shouldest despise the work of thine hands, and shine upon the counsel of the wicked?  Job 10:3
    oppress = despise

I hate, I despise your feast days, and I will not smell in your solemn assemblies.  Amos 5:21
    despise = hate

He delivereth the poor in his affliction, and openeth their ears in oppression.  Job 36:15
    oppression = affliction

A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit.  Proverbs 15:4
perverseness = a breach in the spirit

Stay me with flagons, comfort me with apples: for I am sick of love.  Song of Solomon 2:5
    stay = comfort

Now you can go back and do your own paraphrase of the text.

Christ entered the temple and ran the bad guys out. We call it “cleansing the temple.” Here is how the Bible describes it.

And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves, Matthew 21
And they come to Jerusalem: and Jesus went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves; Mark 11:15-19
And he went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold therein, and them that bought; Luke 19:45-48
And the Jews’ passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem, And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting: And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers’ money, and overthrew the tables; And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father’s house an house of merchandise. And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up. John 2:13-17

We want to look at a few things through the eyes of the hidden treasure. First, we have the “temple.” In Ephesians 2:21, it is defined as “God’s church.”

“Sellers and buyers” are next mentioned. Isaiah 55:1 tells us that this is a process of giving and receiving religious instruction.

Then we have “tables.” Isaiah 30:8 shows that “table” means a “bible,” could be good or bad.

Now we have “moneychangers.” We are going to take apart this compound word. We’ll take “money” first. Exodus 21:20-21 indicates this to be defined as “servant,” sometimes.

For “change” we will go to Leviticus 27:10. There we find the word rendered “alter,” which is a good understanding.

The last word is “dove.” The definition for this word comes from Matthew 10:16. It is you and I, my friend.

To paraphrase what we have found.

Christ entered his church. There, he found bad people presenting as fact, religious instruction they had received from others, without proving it to be truth. They were using bad bibles, strange translations that had the hidden treasure taken out. The situation was terribly bad, for they were altering the thinking of the true servants of God with their deceptions. Christ found them fulfilling Revelation 18:13, for they were making merchandise of “slaves and souls of men.”

Here are some texts for you to examine. Prove all things.

He shall not   alter   it,
              nor change it,
a good for a bad, or a bad for a good: and if he shall at all change beast for beast, then it and the exchange thereof shall be holy. Leviticus 27:10

Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves:
be ye therefore wise as serpents,
and harmless as doves.  Matthew 10:16

And if a man smite his servant, or his maid, with a rod, and he die under his hand; he shall be surely punished. Notwithstanding, if he continue a day or two, he shall not be punished: for he is his money. Exodus 21:20-21

If a man shall deliver unto his neighbour money or stuff to keep, and it be stolen out of the man’s house; if the thief be found, let him pay double. Exodus 22:7

Israel [Achan] hath sinned, and they have also transgressed my covenant which I commanded them: for they have even taken of the accursed thing, and have also stolen, and dissembled also, and they have put it [gold and silver, or, money] even among their own stuff [or, money].
Joshua 7:11

A woman called me and wanted some information about the books. That’s the way it usually starts. We scheduled a time for an extended call and the appointment was kept.

Quite often when SDAs call like this, there is an air of arrogance about them, betimes more or less subtle. Such was the case with this caller. She wanted to know the truth about my “claims” as to there being evil changes in the books.

My position is to be servant to the inquiring mind. None of the positions I take are founded on my own ideas, but all are founded on readily available, physical evidence.

At some point, deep into our meeting, I asked her to please take her Desire of Ages, and turn to page 568. Come up two paragraphs, from the bottom of the page, and start reading right there. When she reached the end of the first, of the two, paragraphs, I asked her to stop and back up two sentences, and re-read those two sentences, which she did. Then I asked her to please back up and read that last sentence again.

Now, with greater concentration she read. My hearing is not what it used to be, but the gasp of shocking disbelief was audible, the stunning, stinging reality of a realized deception was palatable.

You can read the same sentence. Count up, from the bottom of the page, ten lines, and start reading that sentence. That is the lie. It is in print. It is in black and white. There are far too many copies out there to have a recall. So something must be conjured up to defend it. But it is not defensible.

This reminds me of one of the attacks made against Verne Bates, by Vance Ferrell. In his paper, “The Teachings of Verne Bates,” Vance goes too far, over stepping the bounds of common sense, as he attempts to defend. Of course, many understand that common sense is not so common. Too often in our zeal we overlook the things we are doing.

Here in Vance’s own words, we quote, “The context is speaking about Christ’s great love and care for His erring children. Ellen is so filled with feeling that she waxes eloquent with powerful symbolic language to illustrate her meaning.” And he goes on to quote part of the sentence.

Now here is an interesting thing. Vance would have us believe that God’s prophet is so wrapped up in God’s glory, that it is ok to tell a lie!?!

No!, my friends. A lie told is the footprint of the father of lies, Satan.

Vance has stepped right into the pages of the Supplement to the Christian Experience and Views.

I was shown like this. The truth once got out now, will stand; for it is the truth for the last days, and it will live, and less need to be said upon the truth after it is out. Numberless words need not be put upon paper to justify what speaks for itself, and shines in its clearness. But it is not so with error. It is so winding and twisting that it needs a multitude of words to explain it in its crooked form. But truth is straight, plain, clear, and stands out boldly in its own defense. The cause of truth should not be hindered in its onward progress for want of means. p. 14, Para. 2, [SUPCEV].

Very many are going to lose Heaven, come up in the third resurrection, finding out too late, that their loyalty to the GCSDA church was misplaced; for in so doing, they made of the church, an idol; something to come before Christ; the exact same mistake the Jews made with the temple.

Costly mistake indeed! It blinds the eye to the truth, which is right in their face. Just like the woman reading through the Desire of Ages, missed!, was blinded to!, the lie, staring her right in the eye. She could not see it.

Like all the rest of Laodicea, professing to be rich in spiritual discernment, Satan laughs at their blinding pride, as he leads them down the path to perdition.

There are two passages ALL MUST KEEP IN MIND!

The insinuations of Satan took effect until they [the angels in Heaven] really believed that the Father and the Son were their enemies, and Satan, the benefactor. Satan has the same power and the same control over minds now, only increased by exercise and experience a hundred-fold. Men and women are today deceived, blinded by his insinuations and devices, and know it not. They are, in giving place to doubts and unbelief in regard to the work of God, and cherishing feelings of distrust and cruel jealousies, preparing themselves for complete deception. They rise up with bitter feelings against the ones who have dared to speak of their errors and reprove their sins. p. 103, Para. 1, [23OT].

As we near the close of time, the human mind is more readily affected by Satan’s devices. R&H, February 18, 1862

Without a humble acceptance of our true condition before God, we are lost. I do hope that you will see the reality of the reward of eternal life, and the sure punishment of sin, before eternal death.

Go and read again the letter to the Laodiceans. Know that none of us are rich in spiritual discernment. None. Nay, but we are poor, in spiritual discernment, blinded to spiritual realities, our shameful sins bare, for all the universe to see, naked.

Turn to God with your whole heart. Time is short.

Some time back I discovered this passage in No. 5, page 42, and thought it to be an understanding, God would that we should have, of some text. Here is the passage.

I was shown that we have men placed over us for rulers, and laws to govern people. Were it not for these laws, the world would be in a worse condition than it is now. Some of these laws are good, and some bad. The bad have been increasing, and we are yet to be brought into straight places. But God will sustain his people in being firm, and living up to the principles of his word. Where the laws of men conflict with God’s word and law, we are to obey the word and law of God, whatever the consequences may be. The laws of our land requiring us to deliver a slave to his master, we are not to obey, and we must abide the consequences of the violation of this law. The slave is not the property of any man. God is his rightful Master, and man has no right to take God’s workmanship into his hands, and claim him as his own. p. 42, Para. 2, [5OT].

Remember that this was published in 1859, before the Civil War. Whites still “owned” blacks as slaves and God was not happy about that.

I got to doing a study on the word “escape,” and it’s various forms, and discovered this text.

Thou shalt not deliver unto his master the servant which is escaped from his master unto thee: Deuteronomy 23:15

Wow! How humbling! Here I thought myself to be such a student of the Word and the Spirit of Prophecy, and every time I turn around, there is another item, proving that I have a long way to go. Truly the authentic Spirit of Prophecy is “not to give new light; but to impress with vividness upon the heart the truths of inspiration already revealed.” No. 20, pages 42 – 49.

Sunday September 23, 2012

Let’s have a conversation today.

One of the big topics on many SDA minds is the questions about the church. Is it going through? Is it Babylon? Should I leave the church? Where else is there to go? And I’m sure more.

The question about leaving the church, means, should I remove my membership?

If you were to ask me, “Should I leave the SDA church?”

I might answer by asking you a question like the following. “Well, let me ask you a question. What if I had membership in a witch’s coven? Would that be Ok with you?”

“Oh, Art! That has no relation to the question!” You might answer.

“Really!? What is it about my question that makes you uncomfortable?”

“Well…,” You say, “A membership in a witch’s coven is not a comparison to membership in a church. That is purely Satan’s crowd. Church is God’s people.”

Since it’s now time to prove things, I say, “Ok, let’s check out what The Day-Star has to say on this very point. I’ll quote it for you.”

And I saw those who rose up with Jesus send up their faith to Jesus in the Holiest, and praying, Father give us thy spirit. Then Jesus would breathe on them the Holy Ghost. In the breath was light, power and much love, joy and peace. Then I turned to look at the company who were still bowed before the throne. They did not know that Jesus had left it. Satan appeared to be by the throne trying to carry on the work of God. I saw them look up to the throne and pray, My Father give us thy spirit. Then Satan would breathe on them an unholy influence. In it there was light and much power, but no sweet love, joy and peace. Satan’s object was to keep them deceived and to draw back and deceive God’s children. I saw one after another leave the company who were praying to Jesus in the Holiest, go and join those before the throne and they at once received the unholy influence of Satan. The Day-Star

Taking up the question, I ask, “So, the people spoken of here in The Day-Star, are they churched? or are they unchurched?”

“Yes, they are churched.” Is your answer.

“Well, if Satan is leading this group of people, right? he is ‘breathing on them’ his spirit,” I continue the point. “Then what is the difference between a deceived church and a witch’s coven?”

“Yes.” You say, “You have a point. I never thought of it that way before.”

“If we are going to make it to Heaven then we are going to have to think very seriously about these important questions. If Christ’s coming is at the door, time is getting rather short for the answer.”

“And I found a text for your consideration.”

neither be partaker of other men’s sins: keep thyself pure. 1 Timothy 5:22

“This text reads a lot like that of Revelation 18.”

And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.

I continue, “Membership gives support. By maintaining membership in any organization you  give sanction and support to everything that organization does. Here is God’s counsel.”

Responsibility For Sins We Do Not Reprove.

If wrongs are apparent among his people, and if the servants of God pass on indifferent to them, they virtually sustain and justify the sinner, and are guilty alike with the sinner, and will receive the displeasure of God just as surely as the sinner; for they will be made responsible for the sins of the guilty. I have been in vision pointed to many instances where the displeasure of God has been incurred by a neglect on the part of his servants to deal with the wrongs and sins existing in their midst. Those men who have excused wrongs have been thought by the people to be very amiable, and of lovely disposition, simply because they shunned to discharge a plain and scriptural duty. The task was not agreeable to their feeling; therefore they avoided it. p. 21, Para. 2, [23OT].

The spirit of hatred which has existed with some because the wrongs among God’s people have been reproved, has brought blindness and a fearful deception upon their own souls, making it impossible for them to discriminate between right and wrong. They have put out their own spiritual eyesight. They may witness wrongs, but they do not feel as did Joshua, and humble their souls in humiliation because the danger of souls is felt by them. p. 21, Para. 3, [23OT].

The true people of God, who have the spirit of the work of the Lord and the salvation of souls at heart, will ever view sin in its real, sinful character. They will always be on the side of faithful and plain dealing with sins which easily beset the people of God. Especially in the closing work for the church, in the sealing time of the one hundred and forty-four thousand, who are to stand without fault before the throne of God, will they feel most deeply the wrongs of God’s professed people. This is forcibly set forth by the prophet’s illustration of the last work under the figure of the men, each having a slaughter weapon in his hand. One man among them was clothed with linen, with a writer’s inkhorn by his side. p. 22, Para. 1, [23OT].

Brothers and Sisters, there is no time to delay. Should the church be called Babylon, or not, makes no difference at all. The Jews are still called Jews to this very day, but no true Christian can become a Jew and remain a Christian. The General Conference SDA church is in a state of gross apostasy, and by maintaining membership in that organization, you are giving sanction and support for their wickedness in departing from God; you partake of their sins and you must also partake of their punishment.

Think about it… carefully.

God Bless your choice

Sabbath September 22, 2012

The 144,000 — we have discovered some definitions from Bible texts, for this numbered group. This past Thursday, on the 13th that is, we talked about some of these definitions. One of the definition chains went from “144,000” to “virgins” to “daughter of Zion.” Today we search on “daughter of Zion” and find this text.

How hath the Lord covered the daughter of Zion with a cloud in his anger,
and cast down from heaven unto the earth the beauty of Israel,
and remembered not his footstool in the day of his anger! Lamentations 2:1

This quite amazing text gives us three definitions. This is parallelism, without peg words to frame the definitions.
daughter of Zion = beauty of Israel = footstool

It’s almost as if God is taking us by the hand and says, “Come with me, I want to show you some things.”
So we go, if we are willing….

Let’s check out footstool first. Because our space is sort of limited, you will need to expand these searches and definitions. There are often more than one definition for one word; but, that is the depth, yawning, gaping below, all ready for exploration!

We will go into      his tabernacles:
we will worship at his footstool. Psalms 132:7
footstool = tabernacles
There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High. Psalms 46:4

This text indicates, the dwelling place of God, being the “tabernacles.” This is a fitting line, back to the 144,000; for God will be dwelling with them. We’ll leave this chain here and pick up the other definition, “beauty of Israel.”

The beauty of Israel is slain upon thy high places: how are the mighty fallen! 2 Samuel 1:19
144,000 = Jonathan

Lo! We have a direct connection to Jonathan, David’s best friend! Time to examine some things we know about Jonathan.

And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking unto Saul, that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul.  Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul. And Jonathan stripped himself of the robe that was upon him, and gave it to David, and his garments, even to his sword, and to his bow, and to his girdle. 1 Samuel 18:1-4
And Jonathan caused David to swear again, because he loved him: for he loved him as he loved his own soul. 1 Samuel 20:17
David arose out of a place toward the south, and fell on his face to the ground, and bowed himself three times: and they kissed one another, and wept one with another, until David exceeded. And Jonathan said to David, Go in peace, forasmuch as we have sworn both of us in the name of the LORD, saying, The LORD be between me and thee, and between my seed and thy seed for ever. 1 Samuel 20:41-42
And Jonathan Saul’s son arose, and went to David into the wood, and strengthened his hand in God. And he said unto him, Fear not: for the hand of Saul my father shall not find thee; and thou shalt be king over Israel, and I shall be next unto thee; and that also Saul my father knoweth. And they two made a covenant before the LORD: and David abode in the wood, and Jonathan went to his house. [house = church] 1 Samuel 23:16-18

There are some very interesting, and disturbing, parallels between what we know about Jonathan, the 144,000 and John the Baptist.

1.) Jonathan loved David as his own soul. He exemplified true Christianity. “Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.” Matthew 19:19

2.) Jonathan was able to have very little contact with David; just like John the Baptist, with Christ. In this active parable, David represents Christ.

3.) Jonathan’s life was cut short; just like John the Baptist’s. It was because of the apostasy in Jonathan’s own family that his life was taken. Is this a sign of what the future holds for some of the 144,000!? Was Jonathan doing right by trying to defend (by fighting the heathen) his home  (church)?, or, was it his duty to be in that war!? John the Baptist was a Jew, he came in the spirit of one of the most important prophets — a Jew, his message was to the Jews, executed by a Jew  who was drunken at a party with rich food and wine.

4.) Jonathan was persecuted by his own family; just like the 144,000 are persecuted by their church family during the shaking, which started 1850.

5.) Jonathan’s own church family is in gross apostasy. Even going so far as to bow down to the man of sin, the pope. Saul went directly to Satan’s representative, the witch of Endor, to honor her with his presence. The SDA church went directly to Satan’s representative, the pope, and honored him, by giving him a gold medallion.

There is more to learn from this active parable. There is always more to learn.

May God help us to study like never before
