Since the Bible is the dictionary for the language of the Bible, it becomes very important that we not mix man’s ideas about what God’s words mean, with God’s definitions of his words. This is where the rubber meets the road. God’s definitions are spiritually discerned.

Professing believers, not fully committed to God, will not get a proper understanding of God’s words. They will plead for the use of worldly minded men’s books, Strong’s Concordance Lexicons; Bible Dictionaries by Vine, Zodhiates; Word Studies by Vincent, Wuest, Trench; Hebrew-English Dictionaries by Brown, Driver, Briggs; Greek-English Lexicons by Moulton, Thayer, Danker, Liddell; Greek & Hebrew Texts by Metzger, Scrivener, Berry, Ginsburg & Green; and all Greek and Hebrew Study Tools & Intrelinears; and other “modern” translations of the Bible.

But all this is the departure point from God to Satan. Man’s ideas about God’s words, are the whisperings of Satan through his agents, professional experts, highly educated, IN THE WORLD!, attempting to reach and probe into the mysteries of godliness; but the door is closed to them, while it is open to the humble seeker for truth, who comes using the ask formula. Ask, Seek and Knock, in total commitment.

Praise God!! for his truth! Every word of God is pure. Proverbs 30:5

Understanding these things is important. Eve, at the tree, gave countenance and credence to Satan. Listening must be done to gain information. When enough information is gathered, you make a decision. Hanging out at the tree of the knowledge of evil and the world is not wise. Satan has a thousand agents lined up just waiting to take up your time, preventing you from being sealed. It is not proper for you to evaluate everything there is to evaluate.

Christ had to listen to Satan’s temptations, otherwise he could not have been tempted. But don’t immerse yourself into the temptation! Years ago Desmond Ford was rising in the SDA world. A friend of mine was listening to what he had to say, and was playing a tape in the garage where we were working together on a project; so I listened. After a few minutes, Ford claimed that only the morning and evening sacrifice typified Christ. At that point I knew the man was wrong, preaching error and darkness. Even though I was in darkness my own self, I knew that every single item and ceremony and sacrifice of the temple services typified Christ, because I had studied truth.

Remember that Satan is breathing out light and power. (The Day-Star) Light is truth. But when truth is  mixed with Satan’s lies, it is a deadly batch of strong drink. At the first sign of error, don’t walk, run! Notice the parallels and definitions here, God is speaking.

Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!
Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink: Isaiah 5:21, 22

The peg words are in blue, underlined, and the parallel definitions are in red. God is teaching us his language. Those who are “wise in their own eyes” are “prudent in their own sight.”  Those who are “mighty to drink wine” are “men of strength to mingle strong drink.”
Wine is defined as doctrine, sometimes good; sometimes bad, as in the above case.

I [God] would lead thee, and bring thee into my mother’s [woman is church] house [is church also], who would instruct me: I would cause thee to drink [receive instruction] of spiced wine [doctrine] of the juice of my pomegranate. Song 8:2

This, however, is the problem of those who are out of the way.

But they also have erred through wine, and through strong drink are out of the way; the priest and the prophet have erred through strong drink, they are swallowed up of wine, they are out of the way through strong drink; they err in vision, they stumble in judgment. Isaiah 28:7
Stay yourselves, and wonder; cry ye out, and cry: they are drunken, but not with wine; they stagger, but not with strong drink. Isaiah 29:9

Which is why this instruction was given to John the Baptist’s parents.

For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother’s womb. Luke 1:15

Prove all things. Run from error. Walk in the light, because in him is no darkness at all.

In using the Bible as it’s own dictionary, it is important to remember that these are the words of God, that God is in charge of his own “language” and not man.

Enter Satan, to lie about the Bible, steal away from sight the hidden treasure, and, in the words of Gail Riplinger, “burning Bibles word by word!” This is accomplished in the exact same way the enemies of truth have used to burn the English language “word by word.”

I have a 1611 Bible re-print. It is amazing to read it, at first. Most all words with the letter “u,” with which we are now familiar, use the letter “v.” Thus it reads, “vp” for “up,” “vse” for “use,” &c. Who made these changes? and for what reason? I am sure there is a good “reason.”

If you take a bunch of people from the northern states, and trade them for another group of people in the southern states, for a time there would be some confusion in their communications; until each respective group learned the “language” of the, new to them, area they were placed. The reason for this confusion is a failure to conform to English standards. In this example, the differences are very small.

The Bible is the target of Satan’s attack. Remember Eve at the tree? As soon as Eve spoke the words of God, Satan spouted his lies! It’s no different today. Satan is again cloaked. Now he comes in the form of an angle of light, one claiming he can be trusted, claiming he has truth in his hand.

He [Satan] … abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.John 8:44

Poor man, lingering at the tree of knowledge of good and evil (a bad guy), listening to the voice of the serpent (a bad guy “reasoning” with the poor saint), as lies pour forth from his lips, declaring that God has made mistakes in preserving his word.

I was shocked to learn that there are now, today, more than 5,200 manuscripts of the Greek New Testament. This is from Gail Riplinger’s book, “In Awe of Thy Word,” page 939. And the real kicker, 99.992% of all those manuscripts “agree with Erasmus’ Greek New Testament and the KJV.” God has preserved his Bible!

Here is a pertinent passage from the 1858 Great Controversy, page 75.

But at this time [when Christ met with the desciples] Thomas was not present. He would not humbly receive the report of the disciples; but firmly, and self-confidently affirmed that he would not believe, unless he should put his fingers in the prints of the nails, and his hand in his side where the cruel spear was thrust. In this he showed a lack of confidence in his brethren. And if all should require the same evidence, but few would receive Jesus, and believe in his resurrection. But it was the will of God that the report of the disciples should go from one to the other, and many receive it from the lips of those who had seen and heard. God was not well pleased with such unbelief. And when Jesus met with his disciples again, Thomas was with them. The moment he beheld Jesus he believed. But he had declared that he would not be satisfied without the evidence of feeling added to sight, and Jesus gave him the evidence he had desired. Thomas cried out, My Lord and my God. But Jesus reproved Thomas for his unbelief. He said to him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed; blessed are they that have not seen and yet have believed. p. 74, Para. 2, [1SG ].

So, I saw, that those who had no experience in the first and second angels’ messages [this would be you and I] must receive them from those who had an experience, and followed down through the messages. p. 75, Para. 1, [1SG ].

What does this mean? the “experience” spoken of here. God has provided the answer to that also, for he wants to save all, whosoever will. From The Present Truth, No. 11, p. 86.

I also saw that the shepherds should consult those in whom they have reason to have confidence, those who have been in all the messages, and are firm in all the present truth, before they advocate any new point of importance, which they may think the Bible sustains.

A very critical point is laid out about the true position of the pioneers and exactly how God defines just who the real pioneers are. First, we have the shepherds; these are the ministers, sent out to the field. Next, are “those in whom they have reason to have confidence,” which indicates that we are to make a judgment here; don’t just rush off to confide in someone, unless there is a reason to do so; and now God gives us that reason. “Those who have been in all the messages, and are firm in all the present truth,” a criteria now set in stone, as it were; double meaning intended, as they are in the group, as we will show.

We see that the mere presence of one, about 1844, does not qualify them as a true pioneer of the faith.

“The first time that was set for the Lord to come (in the spring of 1844), I worked all the day the Lord was expected, sawing wood. I frequently looked up to see if the Lord was coming. I was very fearful He would come that day, for I thought I was not ready. Although the day passed and He did not come, I did not lose my desire to be saved. [3] p. 7, Para. 5, [AUTOBIOG].
Autobiography of Adventist Pioneer J. N. Loughborough

We have a harmonious, supporting passage in No. 21, page 96, where God instructs a minister. “You should counsel with your brethren who have had experience in the work.”

And another in Christian Experience and Views, page 50. “Not every one that proclaimed the first and second angel’s messages are to give the third, even after they fully embrace it, for some have been in many errors and delusions, ….”

Then the shepherds will be perfectly united, and the union of the shepherds will be felt by the church. Such a course I saw would prevent unhappy divisions, and then there would be no danger of the precious flock being divided, and the sheep scattered, without a shepherd.

It’s important to think of the Bible as a dictionary. Here is why.

One of my favorite words is “patina.” In my work of designing and installing interior woodwork, I rub shoulders with a bevy of “interior designers,” “decorators” and the like. Many of these are too busy to actually look up the word for themselves and come to an understanding of the correct usage of that word.

As a child I learned English from my parents. As a student I learned to use the dictionary. Now, knowing that, when I come to a word I wish to understand, I use the dictionary.

Here is on the word “patina.”

Definition of PATINA

1 a : a usually green film formed naturally on copper and bronze by long exposure or artificially (as by acids) and often valued aesthetically for its color b : a surface appearance of something grown beautiful especially with age or use

2 : an appearance or aura that is derived from association, habit, or established character

3 : a superficial covering or exterior

    Examples of PATINA

<although the winery is brand-new, it has been constructed and decorated to give it a patina of old-world quaintness>

    Origin of PATINA
Italian, from Latin, shallow dish – more at paten
    First Known Use: 1748
    Related to PATINA
Synonyms: air, ambience (or ambiance), aroma, atmosphere, climate, flavor, halo, karma, mood, nimbus, note, odor, aura, smell, temper, vibration(s)
    Other Metals and Metallurgy Terms
assay, bloom, bullion, ductile, ingot, malleable, plate, temper, tensile
    Rhymes with PATINA
arena, Athena, Bernina, cantina, catena, Christina, coquina, corbina, corvina, czarina, dracaena, euglena, farina, fontina, galena, Georgi…

I put all this here to make a specific point.

A dictionary is men’s words used to define men’s words.
A Bible is God’s words used to define God’s words.

We should not mix the two.

Here is a perfect example.

Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth,
Thou art taken with the words of thy mouth.  Proverbs 6:2

In this text God is defining “snared” as “taken,” and vice versa.

The Bible has thousands of words. Just as in the example above, with the word “patina,” many of man’s words are used to create a greater understanding of the subject word. God does exactly the same thing.

In English, similar words with similar meanings are called “synonyms.” I even have a whole book on common synonyms. In the text above “snared” is a synonym for the word “taken,” as defined by God. You might not agree with God’s definition. God is using a peculiar choice of words to communicate to his church the hidden mystery. But, if they reject God’s appointed way, there is no other way to Heaven.

As with the English word “patina,” a dictionary presents a standard, just as the Bible presents God’s standard; conformity to the standard allows people to properly communicate.

Failure to adhere to the standard generates confusion, and James 3:16 says, “every evil work.” Hence a huge source of scattering and divisions and every wind of doctrine.

Give it some thought.

It just keeps getting better and better! God is opening Jerry’s understanding to greater and greater things.  Not only are individual words defined, spiritually, phrases also need definition. Sometimes a phrase can more specifically identify something.

We will do a search on the phrase “poor and needy” and notice what comes up.

The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, and to slay such as be of upright conversation. Psalm 37

Here is where you can get the correct understanding of the bent bow.

A bent bow is a counterfeit bible. Notice that it is not God’s bow, but “their bow” that is bent, specifically to cast down the poor. Now we want to positively identify the poor,… in an opposite manner. We are going to the Spirit of Prophecy to show harmony too.

These poor souls, I saw, were deceived by Satan. They flatter themselves that they are all right, and in favor with God, rich in spiritual discernment, when they are blind, poor, and wretched. They are doing the work of Satan, and thinking they have a zeal for God. p. 11, Para. 5, [23OT].

Laodicea figures herself to be “rich,” therefore, poor being the opposite, means a lack of spiritual discernment.

Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 5:3

Now search on the phrase “the Lord thy God” and see what you get. I was amazed!!
I am letting you do this one on your own. All must take the steps themselves. There are no shortcuts. My part is to point you to Christ and allow the Holy Spirit to work with you personally.

Sabbath July 28, 2012

The hidden treasure is, as it were, a language of it’s own, separate from the language, or words of men. We are not interested in the words of man, or the wisdom of man, but we want the words and wisdom of God.

And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: 1 Cor. 2:4
Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 1 Cor. 2:13
the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. John 6:63

To have life, we must eat words, the words of God. The very purpose of the authentic Spirit of Prophecy is to point us to the words of life.

I saw that the Sabbath-keeping ministers of Maine have failed to become Bible students. They have not felt the necessity of a diligent study of the word of God themselves, that they might be thoroughly furnished unto all good works; neither have they felt the necessity of urging the close searching of the Scriptures upon their hearers. p. 198, Para. 2, [20OT].

So today, I will urge upon you “the close searching of the Scriptures.” How shall we do this? It’s simple, it’s thought to be foolishness by the “learned” men of the world, both in and out of the SDA church, but it’s allowing God to define his words, by his words.

There is a great write-up on this very point. It is found in “The Christian Life And Public Labors Of William Miller,” by James White, pages 217 – 225; though the passage could be shortened to 220 or so. It really is worth the read. Very good!

From our study it seems that the hidden treasure language has a very close connection to the song of Moses and the song of the Lamb, perhaps the song that no man can learn? and the new name of Christ. And, in all probability, the new tongues of Mark 16.

How that he was caught up into paradise [Heaven], and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful [or, right] for a man to utter. 2 Cor. 12:4 {because it is hidden???}
O, that I could talk in the language of Canaan, then could I tell a little of the glory of the upper world. The Day-Star

Evidently there is a language of Heaven that we are currently not privy to. Doing a quick search through the Testimonies brings some interesting passages to light.

God says, when he looketh upon the bow in the cloud he will remember. He would not have us understand that he would ever forget; but he speaks to man in his own language, that man may better understand him. p. 74, Para. 1, [3SG].
The language of the apostle is, “I determined not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ and him crucified.” We may look toward Calvary, and also exclaim, “God forbid that I should glory save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.” p. 16, Para. 1, [17OT].

Now mind you, this language is the same as the language of 1 Corinthians 1, and is the same cross, the preaching of which is foolishness to them that perish. Even though these texts have a literal application, they also are hung heavy with the grapes of Canaan, the hidden treasure. Bible words have more than one meaning, foolishness to the wise of the day.

Those who do their duty to others, as they would that others should do to them, are brought into a position where God can reveal himself unto them. They will be approved of God. They are made perfect in love, and their labors and prayers will not be in vain. They are mediums continually receiving grace and truth from the fountain-head, and as freely transmitting the divine light and salvation they receive to others. In them is fulfilled the language of the scripture, “Ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.” p. 66, Para. 1, [19OT].

The Spirit of Prophecy shows them that are still dependant on the milk of the Word, a true spiritual meaning to the text given, the language of Scripture.

There are some things in the Scriptures hard to be understood, and which, according to the language of Peter, the unlearned and unstable wrest unto their own destruction. We may not, in this life, be able to explain the meaning of every passage of Scripture; but there are no vital points of practical truth that will be clouded in mystery. When the time shall come, in the providence of God, for the world to be tested upon the truth for that time, minds will be exercised by the Spirit of God to search the Scriptures, even with fasting and with prayer, until link after link is searched out, uniting in a perfect chain. Every fact which immediately concerns the salvation of men and women is made so clear that none need to err, or walk in darkness. p. 171, Para. 1, [20OT].

It appears that God is bringing out this light on the hidden treasure because this is the language that the Loud Cry will be composed of. The showing forth of the hidden treasure will expose the false foundation Babylon is built on, thus too, bringing the pure light of Heaven to all who will answer the call of faith to come out and be saved.

Distraction. One of the worst enemies to getting something done. Whatever it is you might wish to accomplish, it is something known; the exact path may not be known, but you have that end result in mind.

Character formation is not usually taught, … anywhere. Yet it is a continual process that goes on every day of our lives, and, unfortunately, often without our awareness. I must be self-aware, constantly. I must keep my own self under control at all times. I must be ready to be thrown to the lions or in the fire as a consequence of right doing.

My only hope of accomplishing this, is to keep my mind staid on Christ.

Our chief danger is in having the mind diverted from Christ. p. 150, Para. 1, [28OT].

Why is this our chief danger? Here is the answer.

I saw that Satan was at work in these ways to distract, deceive, and draw away God’s people, just now in this sealing time. p. 12, Para. 4, [CEV].

If I allow myself to be distracted by X, then I am in danger of not getting sealed.

In the late vision given me at Battle Creek during our general camp-meeting, I was shown our danger, as a people, of being assimilated to the world rather than to the image of Christ. We are now upon the very borders of the eternal world. It is the purpose of the adversary of souls to lead us to put far off the close of time. Satan will in every conceivable manner assail those who profess to be the commandment-keeping people of God, waiting for the second appearing of our Saviour in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. He will lead as many as possible to put off the evil day and become in spirit like the world, imitating its customs. I felt alarmed as I saw that the spirit of the world was controlling the hearts and minds of many who make high profession of the  truth. Selfishness and self-indulgence are cherished by them; but true godliness and sterling, integrity are not cultivated. p. 63, Para. 2, [28OT].

The light of truth [remember the hidden treasure?], sanctifying the life, will discover to the receiver the sinful passions in his heart, which are striving for the mastery, making it necessary for him to stretch every nerve, and exert all his powers to resist Satan, that he may conquer through the merits of Christ. When surrounded by influences calculated to lead away from God [like living in today’s world], his petitions must be unwearied for help and strength from Jesus that he may overcome the devices of Satan. p. 30, Para. 2, [28OT].

I highly recommend the study of the Bible. Striving to understand the spiritual meaning of the words, the message from God to you. Striving to enter at that gate.

Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able. Luke 13:24

Once you realize that your eternal life is at stake, you will get serious about the future,… today.

Today I want to send you on a chase.

Here is a new page that Jerry M. put up about the “how to” of his studies and the physical mechanics of it all. It’s quite different from, what I would call, regular Bible study.

The reason for this is the chase for word definitions throughout the Bible, with alternate side chases to other words that define the word you first started with. It’s really quite the process. Keeping track can become a challenge.

Jerry has done a good job of creating a system. Here is his method, enjoy!

And speaking of rocks….

When I washed my steps with butter, and the rock poured me out rivers of oil; Job 29:6

Please tell me, when was the last time you washed your steps with butter?
Or, have you ever seen a rock pour out (vegetable) oil?

This text makes no sense, literally. It can only be understood spiritually. We need to take it apart, word by word, find a meaning that makes sense, and plug it in.

The first word of note is “washed.” We need to find a Bible definition for this word that will replace that word “washed” in our minds so we can properly understand it.

Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil; Isaiah 1:16

From this verse, we can see that spiritually washing is the same thing as putting away the evil of our doings, or, sin.

Next word would be “steps.”

My foot hath held his [Christ’s] steps, his way have I kept, and not declined. Job 23:11

This tells us that our feet are what we use to follow Christ’s example, or, his steps, his way.

Butter, I like the taste of butter. Here is the Bible’s definition of butter.

Surely the churning of milk bringeth forth butter, Proverbs 30:33

This sounds like a lesson in farming. God invented farming too; probably just to show us and keep in our minds his spiritual lessons. We now need to define just what milk is.

Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. Isaiah 28:9

For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. Hebrews 5:12-13
As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: 1 Peter 2:2

If milk is the first principles of the oracles of God, then the churning of them, or we could say, going back and forth through the Bible, which is what we have just done, is what creates butter, and butter has to be the meat of God’s word that Paul is talking of. This squares well with this verse about Christ.

Butter and honey shall he eat, that he may know to refuse the evil, and choose the good. Isaiah 7:15

We learned yesterday that “rock” is Christ; making perfect sense with today’s verse.

And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ. 1 Cor. 10:4

We just need to discover what “oil” is about.

And thou shalt make it an oil of holy ointment, an ointment compound after the art of the apothecary: it shall be an holy anointing oil. Exodus 30:25

Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward. 1 Samuel 16:13

Now we can see that oil is about anointing, which is directly related to the “Spirit of the Lord.”

Putting all this together, we get an understanding of the text, and, a clearer understanding of what we know to be the truth anyway. To paraphrase.

The meat of God’s word pointed out my sins, so that I could confess them, and put them away; and then, Christ poured out the Spirit of the Lord upon me.

And this is to be the experience of the 144,000, who follow the Lamb everywhere he goes. Using the hidden treasures of God’s word to more clearly understand and come into harmony with Heaven, is entering that special “rest” Hebrews was talking about. But, it does not end there.

When it comes to spiritual things, it is very important to avoid man’s words, man’s ideas, man’s agenda, anything that is man based. The only thing man knows, that is true, is what comes from God. All are allowed their opinion, but an opinion is not a fact of truth. We need to prove all things. On this site, I sometimes express an opinion, but my purpose is to point you to the source of truth, to the fountain of living waters.

they have forsaken me [Christ] the fountain of living waters Jeremiah 2:13

And, right here we have another Bible word spiritually defined. The word is “fountain.” Next time you are reading in your Bible (this only works correctly in the KJV) and find the word “fountain,” you can plug in this definition and see if it makes good sense. Here is one example.

the fountain of Jacob shall be upon a land of corn and wine; also his heavens shall drop down dew. Deuteronomy 33:28

I believe most will agree that Christ is the fountain of Jacob; this not being a physical fountain. Here are more that work well with this spiritual meaning plugged in.

For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light. Psalm 36:9
O Lord, the hope of Israel, all that forsake thee shall be ashamed, and they that depart from me shall be written in the earth, because they have forsaken the Lord, the fountain of living waters. Jeremiah 17:13
And it shall come to pass in that day, that the mountains shall drop down new wine, and the hills shall flow with milk, and all the rivers of Judah shall flow with waters, and a fountain shall come forth of the house of the Lord, and shall water the valley of Shittim. Joel 3:18
In that day there shall be a fountain opened to the house of David and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem for sin and for uncleanness. Zech. 13:1
And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. Rev. 21:6

So Christ is defined as a fountain; he is also defined as a rock. I’m sure you will remember this one.

O come, let us sing unto the Lord: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. Psalm 95:1

Now that you have a handle on the definition of rock, try it out on these verses. I have included one that just will not work. I am sure you will notice it. But this is how God intended for us to learn his word, by using the Bible to define itself; it is the hidden mystery, by which, whosoever will, may grow in grace and understand the mystery of godliness.

Of the Rock that begat thee thou art unmindful, and hast forgotten God that formed thee. Deut. 32:18
For their rock is not as our Rock, even our enemies themselves being judges. Deut. 32:31
There is none holy as the Lord: for there is none beside thee: neither is there any rock like our God. 1 Samuel 2:2
And Abner said again to Asahel, Turn thee aside from following me: wherefore should I smite thee to the ground? how then should I hold up my face to Joab thy brother? 2 Samuel 2:22
The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spake to me, He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God. 2 Samuel 23:3
I will say unto God my rock, Why hast thou forgotten me? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy? Psalm 42:9
And they remembered that God was their rock, and the high God their redeemer. Psalm 78:35
O Lord, are not thine eyes upon the truth? thou hast stricken them, but they have not grieved; thou hast consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction: they have made their faces harder than a rock; they have refused to return. Jeremiah 5:3
And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ. 1 Cor. 10:4

And to return the full circle….

Which turned the rock into a standing water, the flint into a fountain of waters. Psalms 114:8

Ok, first angel’s message.

And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters. Revelation 14:6-7

I remember wondering just what “worship” really meant. I did not know. I think all will agree that it is a spiritual term, but instead of using the Bible to explain itself, they use a book of man’s ideas, man’s wisdom, man’s thoughts. We need God.

God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. John 4:24

This text sheds some light. The next question might be, “What is, in spirit and in truth?”

the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. John 6:63

Using the Bible to define itself, we now have a definition of spirit, it is the words of Christ. Next, we need to know what truth is, from a Bible definition.

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: John 14:6

We are making progress using the Bible to define itself. This is using the hidden treasure of God’s word. From this we understand that “spirit” is the words of Christ. What do we know about Christ’s words?

From John 6:63, above, we learn that not only are Christ’s words “spirit,” they are also “life.” Notice in that text, the “peg words,” that sit in a parallel reference to the defining words. “They are, they are;” it is a double instruction, two words defining the “words” of Christ; “spirit” and “life.”

I am that bread of life. John 6:48
For the bread of God is he which cometh down from Heaven, and giveth life unto the world. John 6:33
This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die. I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh,

Another definition, bread = flesh.

which I will give for the life of the world. Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.

Two more words defined. Flesh = meat, and blood = drink.

He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him. As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me. This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever. John 6:49-58

A rich feast, of words of life, from God. Here is a summary of what we have learned.

To worship God on the Sabbath, we must understand something of what he is saying to us with his words. This takes study, over time.

We must worship him in spirit and in truth;
which is, the words that Christ speaks;
which is, spirit and life;
which is, the living bread of God;
which is, Christ’s flesh and blood;
which is, meat and drink;
which is, the way, the truth, the life;
all in, Bible Words Spiritually Discerned.

This is how God wants us to worship him. It is the language of Heaven.

God Bless your Study
