We have a little catch-up work to do here.

A page has been in the works, to be added on our site  for Bible Words Spiritually Discerned. We have the recordings of the conference call that will be available for downloading off that page. We will be featuring some links for your convenience.

A certain amount of studies will also be put up ASAP for those new who want a good place to start. This Bible study, searching for the true spiritual meaning, is very important to us. We believe this to be the hand of God, moving out in power to help his people prepare for eternal life.

One of the sisters in the faith brought up the book of Ruth. Just in a quick overview it looks very strong to the importance of the 144,000. Here is a sample.

The Lord grant you that ye may find rest, each of you in the house of her husband. Ruth 1:9

We have bolded some important words.

Bible Word    Spiritual Meaning            Texts

Rest        Hidden Treasure        Isa. 28:11-12; Heb. 4:1-12

House        Church                Heb. 3:6; Ps. 65:4; Mat. 10:14

Her        Woman = God’s people        Revelation 12

Husband    Christ                    Isa. 54:5

Now we want to paraphrase the text.

The Lord grant you that ye may find the hidden treasure (rest), each of you in the church (house) of God’s people (her) where Christ is the head. (husband.)

Perhaps not the perfect application, but you should be getting the idea. And here is a warning. If this does not look right to you, you should be very careful, you could be deceived by Satan about these things. 1 Corinthians 2:14 may apply to you!

But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 1 Cor. 2:14

If in any wise this applies, if you can see no light in these things, run to your closet and pray to God to save you. You must be converted or you will not see Heaven. Open Revelation 3:14. Start reading the message to the Laodiceans. Open that door of your heart. Pray that God will present to your mind where your darling sins are. Is it TV? Food? The desire to acquire?

God will make sin known to you so that you can put it away. True spiritual understanding only comes from making a full commitment, an entire consecration. 1858 Great Controversy, p. 142

Then will open before you the treasures of spiritual things.

As we contemplate the integration of the Bible more fully on this site, we also want to make important connections to the authentic Spirit of Prophecy. The following are excellent examples.

Some have taken an injudicious course; they have talked their faith to unbelievers, and when the proof was asked, they have read a vision instead of going to the Bible for proof. I saw this course was inconsistent, and it prejudiced the unbelievers against the truth, for the visions could have no weight with them. They had never seen them, and knew nothing of the spirit of them, and they should not be referred to, in their case. p. 7, Para. 2, [1OT].

The followers of Jesus Christ, scattered throughout the world, do not have a high sense of their responsibility, and the obligation resting upon them to let their light shine forth to others. If there are but one or two in a place, they can, although few in number, so conduct before the world as to have an influence which will impress the unbeliever with the sincerity of their faith. The followers of Jesus are not meeting the mind and will of God, if they are content to remain in ignorance of his word. All should become Bible students. Christ commanded his followers, “Search the Scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.” Peter exhorts us, “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts; and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear.” p. 86, Para. 1, [20OT].
Many who profess to believe the truth for these last days, will be found wanting. They have neglected the weightier matters. Their conversion is superficial; not deep, earnest, and thorough. They do not know why they believe the truth, only because others have done so, and they take it for granted it must be so. They can give no intelligent reason why they believe. Many have allowed their minds to be filled with things of minor importance, and their eternal interest is made secondary. Their own souls are dwarfed and crippled in spiritual growth. Others are not enlightened or edified by their experience, and the knowledge it was their privilege and duty to obtain. Strength and stability lie with true-hearted professors. Christ and him crucified should become the theme of our thoughts, and stir the deepest emotions of our souls. The true follower of Christ will appreciate the great salvation he has wrought for them; and wherever he leads the way, they will follow. They will consider it a privilege to bear whatever burdens Christ may lay upon them. It is through the cross alone that we can estimate the worth of the human soul. p. 86, Para. 1, [20OT].

The mind should be elevated to dwell upon eternal scenes, Heaven, its treasures, its glories and should take sweet and holy satisfaction in the truths of the Bible. They should love to feed upon the precious promises that God’s word affords, draw comfort from it, and the mind should be lifted above trifles to weighty, eternal things. p. 82, Para. 2, [4OT].

I am going to post an excerpt of an email I received from Jerry. It is more proof that you should not use any other Bible than the KJV. You will remember that most arguments surround the idea that the KJV is too hard to read. But that is exactly the whole point. The hidden treasure is there, in the Bible explaining itself. When you move to another translation, you have a counterfeit Bible, just as we have the counterfeit SOP; this is the defiled bread.

Click on this link and poke around a bit. I really like the picture of the gnarly moldy bread; now that is defiled!!! But it makes the point. What are you doing trying to get fed with defiled bread?
http://www.sdramerica.org/bible_translations.htm

Here is the email. Notice the words in red are not a match for the KJV in green.

Perfection Study Comparison by Jerry

2 Timothy 3:17
(KJV)  That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
(NIV)  so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
(NKJV)  that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Jude 1:1
(KJV)  Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to them that are sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ, and called:
(NIV)  Jude, a servant of Jesus Christ and a brother of James, To those who have been called, who are loved in God the Father and kept for Jesus Christ:
(NKJV)  Jude, a bondservant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, To those who are called, sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ:

Ephesians 4:12
(KJV)  For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
(NIV)  to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up
(NKJV)  for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ,

Hebrews 13:21
(KJV)  Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
(NIV)  equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
(NKJV)  make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

Luke 6:40
(KJV)  The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master.
(NIV)  The student is not above the teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like their teacher.
(NKJV)  A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone who is perfectly trained will be like his teacher.

~Clipped~

That’s why a lot of people never strive for perfection.

Rock Climbers are equipped, but not necessarily perfect.

Seminary Students may complete their degree, but are not necessarily perfect

Elderly people may be mature, but are not necessarily perfect.

So when they look at you funny when you say you are perfecting your character with the Lords help, you can remember why they think that way, it’s their defiled bread.  J.

Many things are locked. Of the many types of locks some form of a key is needed. Software programs are usually locked and a key, in the form of an array of letters and numbers, are used for unlocking. Similar to passwords these types of keys can be rather confusing to look at.

God’s plan is first the milk of the Word, then, the meat, of that same Word.

God’s Word is very plain. The term, “without excuse” is used eleven times in the Testimonies. It is used more in other places; here is one.

More than one hundred years before the flood the Lord sent an angel to faithful Noah to make known to him that he would no longer have mercy upon the corrupt race. But he would not have them ignorant of his design. He would instruct Noah, and make him a faithful preacher to warn the world of its coming destruction, that the inhabitants of the earth might be left without excuse. Noah was to preach to the people, and also to prepare an ark as God should direct him for the saving of himself and family. He was not only to preach, but his example in building the ark was to convince all that he believed what he preached. p. 69, Para. 2, [1SP].

James W. makes this point plain in his excellent book on Christ’s kingdom.

Before visiting men and nations with judgments, God has sent forth warnings sufficient to enable the believing to escape his wrath, and to condemn those who have not heeded the warnings. This was the case before the flood. “By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house, by the which he condemned the world.” Heb.11:7. Sermons on the Coming and Kingdom, p. 52

Conversion is a process of becoming a baby Christian. If we do not grow up to become a mature person, we shall be condemned in God’s sight.

As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: 1 Peter 2:2
And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ. 1 Cor. 3:1
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Tim. 2:15

We are told to study. God’s great purpose is to prepare us for Heaven and eternal life. Many are those who say they want this, but Satan deceives them in various ways. On this site we are about tearing off the sheepskin and showing the wolf.

You will not coast into Heaven. It is not a once made decision and no growth after that. We must “study to shew thyself approved” for the purpose of becoming a worker for God.

Your mind is like a key. I know of some who do not like the way I color the text on this site. They do not like my style. And that is Ok. Perhaps it is your mind, your style, that will be the key that will unlock their mind. My mind is not the key to unlock every mind. This is why I encourage everyone to have a website. You may just be the one God will use to unlock a mind in China, or Australia. After peoples minds are unlocked, we say they are open-minded. They are converted. Now we, of all different minds, will have the unity for which Christ prayed.

Applying what you learn in study to your life, is like cultivating a plant, helping it to grow. We as plants must grow or we die. Here, have a chunk of meat.

Let thy garments be always white; and let thy head lack no ointment. Ecclesiastes 9:8

This makes no sense, physically, or literally; it must be understood spiritually. Since the scripture must be it’s own expositor, because it is a rule of itself, we must use other scriptures to unlock this one. This work is not purely bookwork. The Holy Ghost must teach you, or you will look at this and declare it to be “foolishness;” remember 1 Corinthians 2:14.

The order is:
Real Thing = Spiritual Meaning — Bible Reference.
Garment = Character — Genesis 35:2 & Zechariah 3:4
White = Purity — Daniel 12:10 & Revelation 19:8
Head = The Mind — Daniel 2: 28-29
Ointment = Holy Spirit — 1 Samuel 16:13 & Exodus 30:25

Now we can paraphrase the text using what we have found.

Let your character be always pure and let your mind lack not the Holy Spirit.

I have just given you the first lesson from William T. Barrett’s book, “The Bible Made Simple,” Vol. 1, available from his site.
http://biblemadesimple.com/

Jerry M. is teaching the very same Rules of Interpretation by William Miller, and much more.
http://www.sdramerica.org/

I spent fifty (50!) years in the SDA church and NEVER ONCE did I ever hear anything like this. It is not taught. In fact, they teach the opposite. This text teaches us to be perfect, “even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.” It also teaches us to keep the Holy Spirit’s presence with us always.

The church teaches us to talk about the Holy Spirit, to preach about the Holy Spirit, but never to actually be led by the Holy Spirit; because that would be “out of control.” And everyone in the church is taught that no one can ever be perfect before God on this earth; therefore, “go ahead and sin, it’s a natural part of life on earth.”

For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 5:20

You have been warned. Plainly. Christ is coming, Get Ready!

Something that must happen every day, dying to self. Sanctification, a never finished work. These short paragraphs presented in full as an appeal to you. Consider carefully the price you are paying for the things you are buying.

Conversion is a work that most do not appreciate. It is not a small matter to transform an earthly, sin-loving mind, and bring it up to Heaven, to understand the unspeakable love of Christ and the charms of his grace, and the excellency of God, till his soul is imbued with divine love, and captivated with the heavenly mysteries. When he understands these things, his former life will appear disgusting and hateful. He hates sin. He breaks his heart before God, and embraces Christ as the life and joy of the soul. He renounces his former pleasures. He has a new mind, new affections, new interest, new will. His sorrows, and desires, and love, are all new. The lust of the flesh, the lust of the eye, and the pride of life, which have heretofore been preferred before Christ, are now turned from, and Christ is claimed as the charm of his life, his crown of rejoicing. Heaven, which possessed no charms, is now viewed in its riches and glory; and he contemplates it as his future home, where he shall see, love, and praise Him who hath redeemed him by his precious blood. The works of holiness which appeared wearisome, are now his delight. The word of God, which was dull and uninteresting, is now chosen as his study, the man of his counsel. It is as a letter written to him from God, bearing the inscription of the Eternal. His thoughts, his words, and his deeds are brought to this rule and tested. He trembles at the commands and threatenings, while he firmly grasps the promises, and strengthens his soul by appropriating them to himself. p. 122, Para. 2, [17OT].

The society of the most godly is now chosen by him, and the wicked, whose company he once loved, he no longer delights in. He weeps over the sins in them, at which he once laughed. Self-love and vanity are renounced, and he lives unto God, and is rich in good works. This is the sanctification God requires. Nothing short of this will he accept. p. 123, Para. 1, [17OT].

I beg of you, my brother, to enter into an earnest search of your heart, and inquire, What road am I traveling, and where will it end? You have reason to rejoice that your life has not been cut off while you have no certain hope of eternal life. God forbid that you should longer neglect this work, and so perish in your sins. Do not flatter your soul with false hopes. You see no way to get hold again, but one so humble that you cannot consent to accept it. p. 123, Para. 2, [17OT].

Christ presents to you, even to you, my erring brother, a message of mercy, “Come, for all things are now ready.” God is ready to accept you, and pardon all your transgressions, if you will but come. Though you have been a prodigal, and have separated from God, and staid away from him so long, he will meet you even now. Yes; the Majesty of Heaven invites you to come to him, that you may have life. Christ is ready to cleanse you from sin when you lay hold upon him. What profit have you found in serving sin? what profit in serving the flesh and the Devil? Is it not poor wages you receive? Oh! turn ye, turn ye; for why will ye die? p. 123, Para. 3, [17OT].

What are you buying? Buying is a process of exchange. Are you buying what the world has to offer? or what God has to offer? The colored lights hypnotize and sparkle the eyes; TV sucks in your attention. Work demands nine hours a day, minimum.

God offers you gold and silver treasure, but you have to buy it, without money and without price; it will cost your life. But can you hold your life safe at all? God can. Trust him. Lay all on the altar of sacrifice, for God to use as he sees fit.

If you want the hidden treasure, you are going to have to exchange your TV time for study time. Don’t understand something? God has people who love to share. You can be put in contact with someone who will encourage you. Someone who is a believer.

The hidden treasure will charm you with truth.

“Meditation upon heavenly things is profitable, and will ever be accompanied with peace and comfort of the Holy Spirit. No. 17, p. 149

And they understood none of these things: and this saying was hid from them, neither knew they the things which were spoken. Luke 18:34

Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes. Luke 19:42

Don’t let this be said of you! Pay any price to buy the field with the hidden treasure in it. These are the things which belong unto your peace. Be one of those who sit on the front row. Stay around for the meeting after the meeting. Get to know the people behind the voice. Speak up and ask that question. Take home some gold! You will never forget the experience!

Sunday May 27, 2012

This is a twist of yesterday’s post. Meat in due season.

We are to take the Bible just as it reads, for the surface milk of the Word. Then, we are to take the milk of the Word just as it reads, in explaining itself, for the hidden treasure, the spiritual meaning, the deeper meaning of God, to those who are ready.

Miller’s Rule V, “Scripture must be it’s own expositor, since it is a rule of itself.”

Then Jerry showed me this text.

And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ. I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able. For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men? 1 Corinthians 3:1-3

We have this group of Corinthians that are in the faith, converted, but not ready for the meat of the hidden treasure.

But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 1 Cor. 2:14

These Corinthians are “natural men” since Paul can not feed them with the butter, hidden treasure, of the Word. Going back and forth through the milk of the Word between these two texts, we learn that “carnal” is the same as “natural.”

But these people are in the church. They are there every week. What is wrong?

I asked Jerry what he thought was the difference between these carnal or natural people and spiritual people. He thought about it. Then he said, “Total commitment.”

Now it’s my turn to do some thinking. I am reminded of the 1858 Great Conroversy, page 142, again.

The saints anxiously waited for their Lord with fasting, watching and almost constant prayer. Even some sinners looked forward to the time with terror, while the great mass seemed to be stirred against this message, and manifested the spirit of Satan. They mocked and scoffed, and everywhere was heard, No man knoweth the day and the hour. Evil angels exulted around them, urging them on to harden their hearts, and to reject every ray of light from heaven, that they might fasten them in the snare. Many professed to be looking for their Lord, who had neither part nor lot in the matter. The glory of God they had witnessed, the humility and deep devotion of the waiting ones, and the overwhelming weight of evidence, caused them to profess to receive the truth. But they were not converted. They were not ready. A spirit of solemn and earnest prayer was everywhere felt by the saints. A holy solemnity was resting upon them. Angels with the deepest interest had watched the result, and were elevating those who received the heavenly message, and were drawing them from earthly things to obtain large supplies from salvation’s fountain. God’s people were then accepted with him. Jesus looked upon them with pleasure. His image was reflected in them. They had made a full sacrifice, an entire consecration, and expected to be changed to immortality. p. 141, Para. 2, [1SG ].

Isn’t this what God really wants? Is this what you want?

Let’s say that you live through the time of trouble such as never was, now what. You have come all the way, without seeing death. What are you going to take with you? Some gold and silver coins scattered at your feet?

Really, what are you going to take with you?

I saw that it was impossible to have the affections and interests engrossed in worldly cares, increasing their possessions, laying up treasures upon the earth, and yet be in a waiting, watching position, as our Saviour has commanded. Said the angel, “They can secure but one world. In order to acquire the heavenly treasure, they must sacrifice the earthly. They cannot have both worlds.” I saw how necessary was a continuance of faithfulness in watching to escape the delusive snares of Satan. He leads those who should be waiting and watching to take one step of advance toward the world, and they have no intention of going further, but that one step has removed them that much farther from Jesus, which makes it easier to take the next, and thus step after step of advance has been made toward the world, until a profession, a name only, makes the difference between them and the world. They have lost their peculiar, holy character, and there is nothing to distinguish them from the lovers of the world around them, except their profession. p. 98, Para. 1, [16OT].

And then someone invites you to study the hidden treasure… and you no longer understand what they are talking about.

Watch unto prayer that Satan not catch you in a snare, and you become drugged with the things of the world. Danger lurks!
Make that entire sacrifice. Put everything on the altar; even the new anvil you bought, or is it the car, or ….

Join in the study. Have some real meat for a change.

God Bless your study

Sabbath May 26, 2012

Christ made an entire consecration. There was no out, no back door, nothing. It was through the fire, only.

What are we called to?

They had made a full sacrifice, an entire consecration, and expected to be changed to immortality.  p. 141, Para. 2, [1SG ].

Jerry and I were talking the other day. He shared this text with me.

1 Cor. 3:1-3

Jerry taught me that the milk was the basic principles of God’s word. Or, we might call it, “A surface understanding.”

Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings, As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious. 1 Peter 2:1-3
Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing. For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. Hebrews 5:11-14

All my days in the SDA church I never really understood this point. You take any book, and read the words, and get a story told. You take the Bible, and plunk down in your fave chair, and start reading a story. We have all read the stories of Esther and Job, and many others.

You are reading the milk of the Bible.

The milk must be churned in order to get butter.

Surely the churning of milk bringeth forth butter  Proverbs 30:33

For those who may not understand the process, a wooden paddle is used to go back and forth through the milk. This is exactly what you must do in the Bible to get butter, the hidden treasure. Going back and forth through the milk of the Bible, using it to interpret itself, you get the butter, the hidden treasure.

Now you are beginning to understand why it is that this is said of Christ….

Butter and honey shall he eat, that he may know to refuse the evil, and choose the good. Isaiah 7:15

God Bless the Butter you eat

Friday May 25, 2012

Do you want eternal life? Do you want Heaven for your home?

The words of Christ have been plain. “Strive [agonize] to enter in at the strait gate; for many I say unto you shall seek to enter in and shall not be able.” Professed Christians are not all so at heart. There are sinners in Zion now, as there were anciently. p. 135, Para. 2, [18OT].

We will need faith to understand this mystery of the hidden treasure. Here is some things God tells us about growing our faith. “Hear ye him.”

I have frequently seen that the children of the Lord neglected prayer altogether too much, especially in secret; and that many do not exercise that faith which is their privilege and duty, and often wait for that feeling which faith alone can bring. Feeling is not faith, but the two are distinct. Faith is ours to exercise, but joyful feelings, and the blessing, is God’s to give. The grace of God comes to the soul through the channel of living faith, and that faith it is our power to exercise. p. 59, [CEV].
True faith lays hold of and claims the promised blessing before it is realized and felt. I have seen that we must send up our petitions in faith within the second vail, and have our faith take hold of the promised blessing, and claim it as ours. And we are then to believe that the blessing is ours, and that we receive it, because our faith has hold of it, and according to the Word it is ours. “What things soever ye desire when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.” Here is faith, naked faith, to believe that we receive the blessing, even before we realize it. When the promised blessing is realized and enjoyed, faith is swallowed up. But many suppose they have much faith when sharing largely of the Holy Spirit, and that they cannot have faith unless they feel the power of the Spirit. Such confound faith with the blessing that comes through faith. The very time to exercise faith is when we feel destitute of the Spirit. When thick clouds of darkness seem to hover over the mind, then is the time to let living faith pierce the darkness, and scatter clouds. True faith rests on the promises contained in the word of God, and those only who obey the Word, can claim the glorious promises contained in it. “If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.” John xv, 7. ” Whatsoever we ask we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.” 1 John iii, 22. p. 60, [CEV].
I have seen that we should be much in secret prayer. Christ is the Vine, we are the branches. And if we would grow and flourish in the Vine, we must continually draw sap and nourishment from the Living Vine, for without the Vine we have no strength. p. 60, [CEV].
I asked the angel why their was no more faith and power in Israel. Said he, “Ye let go of the arm of the Lord too soon. Press your petitions to the throne, and hold on by strong faith. The promises are sure. Believe ye receive the things ye ask for, and ye shall have them.” I was then pointed to Elijah. He was subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly. His faith endured the trial. Seven times he prayed before the Lord, and at last the cloud was seen. I saw that we had doubted the sure promises, and wounded the Saviour by our lack of faith. Said the angel, gird the armor about thee, and above all take the shield of faith, for that will guard the heart, the very life from the fiery darts of the wicked. If the Enemy can get the desponding to take their eyes off from Jesus, to look to themselves, to dwell upon their own unworthiness, instead of dwelling upon the worthiness of Jesus, his love, his merits, and his great mercy, he will get away their shield of faith and gain his object, and they will be exposed to his fiery temptations. Therefore, the weak should look to Jesus, and believe that they have faith, then they can exercise faith. p. 61, [CEV].

God Bless your growing faith

Satan has a plan.

He has been working on it for the last 6,000 years.

You have been relatively mature, self-aware for fifty years, or thereabouts.

The insinuations of Satan took effect until they [the angels in Heaven] really believed that the Father and the Son were their enemies, and Satan, the benefactor. Satan has the same power and the same control over minds now, only increased by exercise and experience a hundred-fold. Men and women are today deceived, blinded by his insinuations and devices, and know it not. They are, in giving place to doubts and unbelief in regard to the work of God, and cherishing feelings of distrust and cruel jealousies, preparing themselves for complete deception. p. 103, Para. 1, [23OT].

As we near the close of time, the human mind is more readily affected by Satan’s devices. R&H, February 18, 1862

Humanity alone is no match for the devices of Satan. Small wonder then, that over the lifetime of many, Satan matures his plans; making them much harder to detect. Small wonder then, that the hidden treasure remains hidden; that the Bible of the masses is defiled bread, moldy, unfit to eat; that the authentic Spirit of Prophecy has also been counterfeited, become defiled bread, unfit as bread for the head, or to think upon.

This is what the Laodicean church has to eat, to feed their minds. But their minds are already polluted, they are busy thinking about the 6 o’clock news, or the 10 o’clock, or the super bowl, &c. They do not see their need.

He [Satan] seeks by all the means in his power to shake the confidence of God’s people in the voice of warning and reproof, by which God designs to purify the church and prosper his cause. p. 101, Para. 3, [27OT].
It is Satan’s plan to weaken the faith of God’s people in the testimonies. Next follows skepticism in regard to the vital points of our faith, the pillars of our position, then doubt as to the Holy Scriptures, and then the downward march to perdition. When the testimonies, once believed, are doubted, and given up, Satan knows the deceived ones will not stop at this, but he redoubles his efforts till he launches them into open rebellion, which becomes incurable and ends in destruction. p. 102, Para. 1, [27OT].

Enter Christ, to teach us.

And he began again to teach by the sea side: and there was gathered unto him a great multitude, so that he entered into a ship, and sat in the sea; and the whole multitude was by the sea on the land. And he taught them many things by parables, …  And when he was alone, they that were about him with the twelve asked of him the parable. Mark 4:11

Notice carefully the last line. It was not just the disciples. It says, “they that were about him with the twelve.” You may not be a disciple, but if you are engaged in asking, seeking, knocking, you will be about Christ, you will be ready to learn; you will be becoming what Christ would have you to be. You will be learning this mystery of the gospel, this hidden treasure that is worth selling everything you have to get. The pearl of great price.

Here is an important point. If you do not have the faith of Rule XIV, the hidden treasures of God’s word will look like foolishness to you, because they are spiritually discerned.
1 Corinthians 2:14

A Reminder….

For the next few, undetermined number, weeks, we will be hosting a conference call on Sabbaths at 10:30 am West Coast, USA time. We will be doing word studies, from the KJV Bible only, using William Miller’s “Rules of Interpretation” that he used to understand that Christ was coming is 1843, the first date set.  The only requirement is you must email me in order to get the number.        art@sopvindicated.org

Your reply email will contain four different formats of Miller’s Rules, and the conference number.

You are encouraged to privately pass on the conference number to those who you invite to the conference.

Being a fourth generation SDA, there are many things that I just “know,” automatically, as it were. But right at this point is the rub. Here is what God has to say.

thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: Rev. 3:17

From my experience of fifty years in that church, I can tell you, I “thought” I had all the spiritual meat there was. The church had a “prophet” and a ton of books with her name on them. What more could you want?

But, it bothered me that there were many things in the Bible that I just could not understand. I tried Strongs Concordance numbers. I had a set of Greek and Hebrew concordances, coded to Strongs. It seemed to help. Still,… meanings were elusive.

After hearing the parables, they are interested to know what this is about.

And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables: Mark 4:11

This piece of instruction is repeated (for our benefit, upon whom the ends of the world are come).

And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand. Luke 8:10

This begs a question. What is the mystery? that we are to know?
The answer is the proper understanding of God’s word, the Bible.
The Spirit of Prophecy was given for this purpose. No. 20, p. 42-49.

But far more important, is what God says in those pages, at the top of page 44.
The church is not reading those pages.
Why?
They don’t feel any need to.
They are rich, or think they are, with spiritual things; they have an increase of spiritual goods, or think they do; they don’t need any more, they have it all, spiritually, or think they do.

And that, is the problem.

In those pages God tells us that if we had studied the Bible like we should have, we would not have been given the Testimonies.

Using William Miller’s “Rules of Interpretation” will allow the Holy Ghost to give you the correct understanding of the Bible. Front to back. Of prophecy, of salvation, of marriage, of work, of every subject in the Bible. It is the mystery opened, to the one asking, seeking, knocking.
