We need to go back and look over what we posted in the last two days. I fear that as the days race so do our memories fade. What we have just covered needs to be bookmarked, printed out, nailed to the wall, captured. Every now and then something comes along that is so important we simply must do something different to lock it in place.

I am not going to re-post it all, but I feel like it. It’s there just below.

In conjunction with all this material I have come to a realization.

I suddenly realized that I was operating through life with a sub-conscious belief that I HAD to sin, that I could NOT be, or become, perfect.

Why did Christ tell that woman, “Go and sin no more?” What was he thinking? Did Christ actually believe it was possible? How could this be? Didn’t Christ know that we have to live here in the world?

All my fifty years in the church of SDAdventism I’ve had it pounded into my brain, “You can NOT be perfect!” And then it is followed up with quotes and scriptures to prove that no one can be perfect here on earth. So why did Christ tell the woman to “go and sin no more?”

Why is God telling us in the testimonies to stop sinning? Why are the testimonies given to reprove, rebuke and exhort? Why is it that on page 44 of No. 20, we are told this.

…God has through the testimonies simplified the great truths already given, and in his own chosen way, brought them before the people, to awaken and impress the mind with them that all may be left without excuse.

Is this just a game? a cruel game?

What brought so much of this clear to me is the passage on page 122 of No. 17. Here is the relevant part.

It is true, Satan is the great originator of sin; yet this does not excuse any man for sinning; for he cannot force men to do evil. He tempts them to it, and makes sin look enticing and pleasant; but he has to leave it to their own wills whether they will do it or not.

I know I am a created being. I know man has fallen and God implemented the plan of Salvation, and he chose certain people as his agents to write his messages to us so that they could not be changed or lost. There is a remarkable harmony between the Bible and the authenticated Spirit of Prophecy that is so plain as to be unmistakable in it’s clarity. It can not be denied.

When God tells us to be perfect, it’s because it is possible. Satan can not force men to do evil. If you continuously choose to do right, you will be keeping your mind “stayed on thee.” And you will have perfect peace. Like Christ had,… as the nails were being pounded through his flesh.

And Satan can not force you to do evil, or sin. And so you have been set free, right?

Now are you going to listen to the truth of God or the lies of Satan?

Continuing our look at Epistle No. 6, from Testimony No. 17.

Conversion is a work that most do not appreciate. It is not a small matter to transform an earthly, sin-loving mind, and bring it up to Heaven, to understand the unspeakable love of Christ and the charms of his grace, and the excellency of God, till his soul is imbued with divine love, and captivated with the heavenly mysteries. When he understands these things, his former life will appear disgusting and hateful. He hates sin. He breaks his heart before God, and embraces Christ as the life and joy of the soul. He renounces his former pleasures. He has a new mind, new affections, new interest, new will. His sorrows, and desires, and love, are all new. The lust of the flesh, the lust of the eye, and the pride of life, which have heretofore been preferred before Christ, are now turned from, and Christ is claimed as the charm of his life, his crown of rejoicing. Heaven, which possessed no charms, is now viewed in its riches and glory; and he contemplates it as his future home, where he shall see, love, and praise Him who hath redeemed him by his precious blood. The works of holiness which appeared wearisome, are now his delight. The word of God, which was dull and uninteresting, is now chosen as his study, the man of his counsel. It is as a letter written to him from God, bearing the inscription of the Eternal. His thoughts, his words, and his deeds are brought to this rule and tested. He trembles at the commands and threatenings, while he firmly grasps the promises, and strengthens his soul by appropriating them to himself. p. 122, Para. 2, [17OT].

The society of the most godly is now chosen by him, and the wicked, whose company he once loved, he no longer delights in. He weeps over the sins in them, at which he once laughed. Self-love and vanity are renounced, and he lives unto God, and is rich in good works. This is the sanctification God requires. Nothing short of this will he accept.
p. 123, Para. 1, [17OT].

In our group we have been reading from Testimonies No. 17. This past Sabbath we read Epistle N. Six, pages 118 – 125. Within these pages is amazingly plain talk from God, about your salvation.

Yes, every act, however secret you may have thought you were in its committal, has been open to God, to Christ, and to the holy angels. A book is written of all the doings of the children of men. Not an item of this record of acts can be concealed. p. 120, Para. 2, [17OT].

There is only one provision made for the transgressor.
Faithful repentance and confession of sin, and faith in the cleansing blood of Christ, will bring forgiveness, and pardon will be written against his name. p. 120, Para. 3, [17OT].

You have known and experienced the love of God; and it has been your delight to do his will. You have delighted in the study of the word of God. You have been punctual at the prayer-meetings. Your testimony has been from a heart which felt the quickening influences of the love of Christ. p. 121, Para. 2, [17OT].

But you have lost your first love.
God now calls upon you to repent, to be zealous in the work. Your eternal happiness will be determined by the course you now pursue. Can you reject the invitations of mercy now offered? Can you choose your own way? Will you cherish pride and vanity, and lose your soul at last? The word of God plainly tells us how few will be saved, and that the greatest number of even those who are called, will prove themselves unworthy of everlasting life. They will have no part in Heaven, but will have their portion with Satan, and experience the second death. p. 121, Para. 3, [17OT].

Men and women may escape this doom if they will. It is true, Satan is the great originator of sin; yet this does not excuse any man for sinning; for he cannot force men to do evil. He tempts them to it, and makes sin look enticing and pleasant; but he has to leave it to their own wills whether they will do it or not. He does not force men to become intoxicated, neither does he take hold of them, and compel them by force to remain away from religious meetings; but he will present temptations in a manner to allure to evil, and man is a free moral agent to accept or refuse. p. 122, Para. 1, [17OT].

This now from the counterfeit, a fave statement attributed to Ellen’s hand, but obviously not, as Satan uses this to convince sinners that they are Ok. “All is well. I’m not that bad. Just look at all my good works. I’m only sinning occasionally. I mean, read the quote man!”

The character is revealed by the works, not by occasional good deeds and occasional misdeeds, but by the tendency of the habitual words and acts.
{ST, March 27, 1884 par. 12}  Don’t get too hung up on the wording, it’s not what you are used to, this is just the first time it appeared and not too many are into reading the old stuff. The one you want is found in Steps to Christ, you can get the page.

I know you want proof, well here it is. Just take this statement and apply it to any saint living in Heaven. “Well now, I only have a temper tantrum about every hundred years or so, that’s not bad is it?”

I think you get the picture.

Monday June 28, 2010

On beginning to read the sermon/article titled, “Preach the Word” by James W., I became interested to find the reason for Paul’s death. So I went to Fox’s Book of Martyrs to discover the truth.

Having opened the book, I now became captivated by the introduction, which was about the life of John Fox.
And then I came to this passage, it brought tears to my eyes to see again the providence of this great God who promises to care for each and every one of his dear children, even unto death;  then, after death, to care for and enjoy our company… for… ever. Amen.

By these means he kept himself concealed for some time, and afterwards made a journey to London, in the latter part of the reign of Henry VIII. Here, being unknown, he was in much distress, and was even reduced to the danger of being starved to death, had not Providence interfered in his favor in the following manner: p. x, Para. 5, [MARTYR].

One day as Mr. Fox was sitting in St. Paul’s Church, exhausted with long fasting, a stranger took a seat by his side, and courteously saluted him, thrust a sum of money into his hand, and bade him cheer up his spirits; at the same time informing him, that in a few days new prospects would present themselves for his future subsistence. Who this stranger was, he could never learn; but at the end of three days he received an invitation from the Duchess of Richmond to undertake the tuition of the children of the Earl of Surry who, together with his father, the Duke of Norfolk, was imprisoned in the Tower, by the jealousy and ingratitude of the king. The children thus confided to his care were, Thomas, who succeeded to the dukedom; Henry, afterwards Earl of Northampton; and Jane who became Countess of Westmoreland. In the performance of his duties, he fully satisfied the expectations of the duchess, their aunt. p. xi, Para. 1, [MARTYR].

What must have been the joy of that angel to carry out those wishes of the Father!

I have seen the tender love that God has for his people, and it is very great.
I saw an angel over every saint, with their wings spread about them; and if the saints wept through discouragement, or were in danger, the angel that ever attended them would fly quickly upward to carry the tidings, and the angels in the City would cease to sing. Then Jesus would commission another angel to descend to encourage, watch over and try to keep them from going out of the narrow path; but if they did not take heed to the watchful care of these angels, and would not be comforted by them, and continued to go astray, the angels would look sad and weep. Then they would bear the tidings upward and all the angels in the City would weep and then with a loud voice say, Amen. But if the saints fixed their eyes on the prize before them, and glorified God by praising him, then the angels would bear the glad tidings to the City, and the angels in the City would touch their golden harps and sing with a loud voice–Alleluia! and the heavenly arches would ring with their lovely songs. p. 10, Para. 1, [CEV].

PRAISE GOD!!! for his care over each of us!

Probationers All

I am going to engage in a bit of speculation, just a small bit. This is entirely my view of something which may be true, but we do not know and I have no information to share with you except the passages below.

In reading the 1858 Great Controversy I came across this passage.

And as the cloud approached nearer to the earth, we could behold the excellent glory and majesty of JESUS as he rode forth to conquer. A holy retinue of angels, with their bright, glittering crowns upon their heads, escorted him on his way. No language can describe the glory of the scene. The living cloud of majesty, and unsurpassed glory, came still nearer, and we could clearly behold the lovely person of JESUS. p. 206, Para. 2, [GC58].

The idea about crowns on the angels got me thinking about another couple of passages.

The angels graciously and lovingly gave them the information they desired. They also gave them the sad history of Satan’s rebellion and fall. They then distinctly informed them that the tree of knowledge was placed in the garden to be a pledge of their obedience and love to God; that the high and happy estate of the holy angels was to be retained upon condition of obedience; that they were similarly situated; that they could obey the law of God and be inexpressibly happy, or disobey, and lose their high estate, and be plunged into hopeless despair. p. 33, Para. 1, [1SP].

The divine Son of God was the only sacrifice of sufficient value to fully satisfy the claims of God’s perfect law. The angels were sinless, but of less value than the law of God. They were amenable to law. They were messengers to do the will of Christ, and before him to bow. They were created beings, and probationers. p. 10, Para. 1, [2SP].

This got me thinking about another passage.

The Lord has given me a view of other worlds. Wings were given me, and an angel attended me from the City to a place that was bright and glorious. The grass of the place was living green, and the birds there warbled a sweet song. The inhabitants of the place were of all sizes, they were noble, majestic and lovely. They bore the express image of Jesus, and their countenances beamed with holy joy, expressive of the freedom and happiness of the place. I asked one of them why they were so much more lovely than those on the earth. The reply was, “We have lived in strict obedience to the commandments of God, and have not fallen by disobedience, like those on the earth.” Then I saw two trees, one looked much like the tree of life in the City. The fruit of both looked beautiful; but of one they could not eat. They had power to eat of both but were forbidden to eat of one. Then my attending angel said to me, “None in this place have tasted of the forbidden tree; but if they should eat they would fall.” p. 10, Para. 2, [CEV].

So we discover that not only humans, but angels, and other world’s inhabitants are probationers too. Very interesting. We know that we will get our crowns after we are delivered. 1858 Great Controversy, page 209

Wondering now, … what if, probation closes for the whole universe at the same time?
And the angels get a crown of victory just as we do, with stars for the people they have helped to save?

It’s just an interesting thought. A beautiful thought to me, not important for our salvation, interesting, that’s all.

1 Corinthians 4:9 “…for we are made a spectacle…”

Hebrews 12:1
“…seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses…”

Sabbath June 26, 2010, 1:22 PM

I did a little bit of research on the Dark Day and here is what the world has on it. Something to hang a doubt on if you wish. It is interesting to note that the area affected is the birthplace of the Advent message.

The idea that God is focused on his people and not the wicked is here re-enforced, with emphases. That of the sign being given to those people. Later on James comments on the fact that the Midnight Cry was a local event. Even so, just like Noah was a local event, these things were/are a test for the world. In Noah’s case, enough of a test that the complete destruction of the world resulted.

On the falling of the stars.… All agree that the amount visable that night was HUGE! God knows how to do it big.

Here you can check on the estimated amount you will see on that night in November.

Sabbath June 26, 2010

In the sermon article titled, “SIGNS OF THE TIMES.” James gives us a focus “to only the three great signs in the heavens: the darkening of the sun, and of the moon, and the falling stars.” I am only just getting into this article and came across this portion. It must be shared!

This is the stuff of Adventism. This is the core material you should have close. This is the great evidence of our faith.
Of all the fifty years I spent inside the SDA church, how rare it was to actually study our (professed) faith! Especially with relation to the Catholic church. This is the talk of the back room, in hushed tones of discovery and secrets told. Rumors run rampant and the great book Ellen never wrote is quoted often, “Ellen White says,” that’s the name of the book.

I must digress to tell you a small story.

I never will forget the day, sitting in church, Sabbath School, watching Mission Spotlight ( a monthly publication by the church to update members on the mission field) on the screen and the voice of the narrator tells the listener that the Roman Catholic church is a Christian church. I was stunned and angry to hear this from the leadership of the church. Later that day, I asked a man, who was actually a General Conference man, about this event. He cautioned me not to mention it because it was a “hot” item.

So, I won’t mention to you the fact that by very definition of the word “Christian” (which, of course, means being a believer in and a follower of Jesus Christ) the Catholic church is none of that. Nor will I mention to you that the Roman Catholic church leader, the pope, is the embodiment of “the man of sin” spoken of in the Bible. I just won’t mention those things because I want to be accepted and correct with the world. {NOT!}

After all, we have to live in the world and we must develop our influence with the world, right? Ah, isn’t that what Christ would do? {NEVER!}

To continue….

1. The dark day of May, 19, 1780. “Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven.” Matt. 24:29. p. 6, Para. 2, [OURFAITH].

The tribulation here mentioned is that which was upon the church of Christ for 1260 years, noted in Dan. 7:25; Rev. 12:6; 13:5. In Matt. 24:21, it is said to be “tribulation such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.” During the 1260 years of papal persecution, fifty, and some writers say a hundred, millions of Christians were put to death by sword, flame, and rack, and by every other engine of cruelty that wicked men and demons could invent. It was a greater tribulation than the church will ever suffer. It is true that the prophet speaks of a “time of trouble such as never was,” when Michael (Christ) shall stand up. Dan. 12:1. But that will be a national trouble upon all the wicked, and not upon the people of God; for “at that time,” says the angel to the prophet, “thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.” p. 6, Para. 3, [OURFAITH].

Well now, there you have it! I can remember years of thinking that the “time of trouble such as never was,” was still future! How great is that darkness in that church. So many people in the church do not even pretend to study. I had a lady tell me the other day, that, even though she was living in open sin it was Ok, because she knew that she was forgiven.

You think about that for a few minutes.

Millions going to hell, thinking all is well.

Here is the crux of the matter, people are ignorant and deceived. They know not that they know not. God, in his great mercy, is going to give one last call to the banquet; and you and I are the messengers to carry that message of mercy to the world. It will be the greatest display of the power of God to break the power of Satan’s deceptions since Christ walked in the dust of Jerusalem. Millions upon billions have never heard the truth.

The light that was shed upon the waiting ones penetrated everywhere, and those who had any light in the churches, who had not heard and rejected the three messages, answered to the call, and left the fallen churches. Many had come to years of accountability since these messages had been given, and the light shone upon them, and they were privileged to choose life or death. Some chose life, and took their stand with those looking for their LORD, and keeping all his commandments. The third message was to do its work; all were to be tested upon it, and the precious ones were to be called out from the religious bodies. A compelling power moves the honest, while the manifestation of the power of GOD holds in fear and restraint relatives and friends, and they dare not, neither have they power to, hinder those who feel the work of the Spirit of GOD upon them. The last call is carried even to the poor slaves, and the pious among them, with humble expressions, pour forth their songs of extravagant joy at the prospect of their happy deliverance, and their masters cannot check them; for a fear and astonishment keep them silent. Mighty miracles are wrought, the sick are healed, and signs and wonders follow the believers. GOD is in the work, and every saint, fearless of consequences, follows the convictions of his own conscience, and unites with those who are keeping all the commandments of GOD; and they sound abroad the third message with power. I saw that the third message would close with power and strength far exceeding the midnight cry. p. 195, Para. 1, [GC58].

Just WHEN are we going home? A. We don’t know.

It’s a part of the character building process. I decided that if it takes another two hundred years, I’ll just live out my life and die, ever faithful to the very end.

I am so grateful to God that he has preserved the original material and led me to the source. He has promised, if we ask, seek and knock, he will answer, we will find and doors will be opened.

I find this thought just amazing. Continually so.

Almost everything in this age is glossed and unreal. p. 48, Para. 1, [20OT].

I want to be ready, whatever it takes. I am reading James’ material right now. It’s very compelling. All Bible based material showing you just how to present and give information to people on an only Bible base. Right now I just finished the article on the third angel’s message. It’s good. Like you will never hear in the SDA church.

Here is one of my current struggles.

Those who deny self to do others good, and devote themselves and all they have to Christ’s service, will realize the happiness which the selfish man seeks for in vain. Said our Saviour, “Whosoever forsaketh not all that he hath cannot be my disciple.” “Charity seeketh not her own.” This is the fruit of that disinterested love and benevolence which characterized the life of Christ. The law of God, in our hearts, will bring our own interests in subordination to high and eternal considerations. We are enjoined by Christ to seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness. This is our first and highest duty. Our Master expressly warned his servants not to lay up treasures upon the earth, for in doing so their hearts would be upon earthly, rather than heavenly, things. Here is where many souls have made shipwreck of faith. They have gone directly contrary to the express injunction of our Lord, and have allowed the love of money to become the ruling passion of their lives. They are intemperate in their efforts to acquire means. They are as much intoxicated with their insane desire for riches as the inebriate for his liquor. p. 98, Para. 1, [24OT].

The desire to acquire. My level of activity on this item is probably on a different level than you might think. I already tried the money thing, but the principle of the matter still lies close at heart. So I collect,… things; the desire to acquire, where does it stop?

(This matter is being pressed home to me. I have begun a program of trimming the excess, of stuff. I’ll keep the presently useful, release the rest and do my best to lay up treasure in Heaven.)

It stops on the battlefield. Right between your ears. It’s a decision just like overeating, overworking, right? I mean the Bible does say something… “…temperate in all things…” it’s just a decision away. And after you decide for God, he is there to give you what you need to overcome and gain the victory, if you are faithful to your decision.

Never turn back. Stay the course. Victory is certain. God has promised.

The USA is mentioned in the Bible because it is the home base for God’s people of the last days. In Revelation 13:11, God tell us that in spite of all or any good about the USA, it is going to speak like a dragon.

The word “dragon” (1404 Strongs) is only used in the book of Revelation. Thus we know that this also represents Satan. So here is a question: How does Satan “speak?”

All we have to do to find this answer is to go back in time till we find a government, under the control of Satan, speaking, or making laws, as a beast speaking is defined in prophecy, and we shall have our answer.

I would say the French Revolution qualifies. But that was long ago.

You can go to this site and find a listing of such events of the past century. Something on the order of 50 millions of people, murdered by their own governments, all detailed on this site, so we will not forget.

But first, the governments passed laws, or “spake as a dragon,” to get people to go along with the program.

So where are we today in America, with relation to the prophecy in Revelation 13:11? Good question. Are signs being fulfilled?

Here is an article for you to read. It is one mans opinion. But that opinion is also shared by more, and more, and more, and more, every day in America. Because the handwriting is on the wall. The cards are stacked.

If you do not know God, or are unsure of what to do to be saved from the wrath of an offended God, coming in the form of the seven last plagues, then first thing to do is get the facts. Do whatever you have to do to get a King James Version of the Bible, and start reading. Angels will immediately be at your side to help you understand what you are reading. Ask God to help you understand. He will.

You must be honest with yourself and with God. If you do that, you will be rescued. God has promised so.

Wednesday June 23, 2010

James wrote a pamphlet on the Sabbath, which I just finished reading. It brought out a point most clear to me, though I have heard it before.

He points out that the Sabbath is a celebration of the Creation. Here is his illustration on this point. Soon, in the USA, we will be celebrating the Declaration of Independence. This occurs on the fourth day of the month of July.

Now, in spite of our government changing many of the days of legal holidays, this one day is always celebrated on the very day, and no other. The third day will not do, neither the fifth, nor the twenty-fourth, nor any other day, only one day will do.

Why is this? Because it’s special. Sacred (?) in a sense, as it were.

Now for the Sabbath. This day is special because it is the day that celebrates Creation. It’s not about the rest of man on one day from seven. It’s not about not “working” or “worship” or any other thing. Like July the fourth is a memorial of the day of Independence in the USA, likewise the Sabbath is a memorial of the day of Creation in the earth.

Here is the link. I suggest that you save it in your Sabbath folder, if you do not already have it in hardcopy.

God Bless
