What I like to do is make connections
, or “connecting the dots” as it is commonly called.

Let’s go back and take another look a line from Joseph Bates’ notes which he took on a vision he witnessed Ellen having.

Here is the line.

Be careful, let no light be set aside which comes from another way from which thou art looking for.

The way I read this; we are being told to be careful about other people speaking at the inspiration of God. I really want to be careful about this. In fact, this just sets me on edge.

Hold that thought.

Grab your Bible and turn to 2 Chronicles 20:14.

Then upon Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a Levite of the sons of Asaph, came the Spirit of the Lord in the midst of the congregation; 2 Chron. 20:14

Now the whole story is that Jehoshaphat had some enemies show up on his front porch. Something had to be done, but what? He turned to God and was praying with the rest of the Jews, when God chose Jahaziel to bring light to the people. That is what we need to be careful about, a surprise from an unknown.

Now turn to 2 Chronicles 35:

After all this, when Josiah had prepared the temple, Necho king of Egypt came up to fight against Charchemish by Euphrates: and Josiah went out against him. 21But he sent ambassadors to him, saying, What have I to do with thee, thou king of Judah? I come not against thee this day, but against the house wherewith I have war: for God commanded me to make haste: forbear thee from meddling with God, who is with me, that he destroy thee not. 2 Chron. 35:20-21

This is the text that just blows me away! Here is light coming from a heathen king!! Josiah took no heed and went to battle, and lost his life that day. I do not know all the ramifications of this material. I do know that we must be careful, very, very careful.

Notice also the beautiful harmony between the Spirit of Prophecy and the Bible. It’s things like this that builds my faith and strengthens my anchor.

Sunday January 31, 2010

The last day of the first month of the last year of peace of the first day of the rest of your life; mine too, at least that is the opinion of some.

Back to our passage from Testimonies No. 20.

The passage will be further shortened and comments added. I will not touch every point at this time, but see how they match up with the thoughts you had upon the first reading.

The probation of all closes when the pleading for sinners is ended, and the garments of vengeance are put on. p. 169, Para. 2, [20OT].

Many entertain views that probation is granted after Jesus leaves his work as mediator in the most holy apartment. This is the sophistry of Satan. p. 170, Para. 1, [20OT].

Men and women who love the world, and whose minds are carnal and at enmity with God, will flatter themselves that a period of probation will be granted after Christ appears in the clouds of heaven. The carnal heart, which is so averse to submission and obedience, will be deceived with this pleasing view. Many will remain in carnal security, and continue in rebellion against God, flattering themselves that there is then to be a period of repentance of sin, and opportunity for them to accept the truth which now is unpopular and crossing to their natural inclination and desires. When they have nothing to venture, nothing to lose, by yielding obedience to Christ and the truth, they think they will take their chance for salvation. p. 170, Para. 2, [20OT].

Isn’t this interesting……. here we have the General Conference Seventh-Day Adventist church publishing a book that teaches just exactly what the paragraph above warns us against. Here is the link for the ABC on-line store with detail about the book. Read the first line, it is in bold text. I happen to have two copies. I bought two because I was so stunned that the church would actually publish something like that, and I wanted to make sure one survived the ravages of time.

Satan is alive and at war with God’s people. He is stroking them, making them feel good, until the hour passes and they find out too late, their deception. God IS coming back, both to give a reward and to punish, the reward is for the saints and punishment is for the wicked who do the work of Satan, such as publishing such a book.

…. but there are no vital points of practical truth that will be clouded in mystery. When the time shall come, in the providence of God, for the world to be tested upon the truth for that time, minds will be exercised by the Spirit of God to search the Scriptures, even with fasting and with prayer, until link after link is searched out, uniting in a perfect chain. Every fact which immediately concerns the salvation of men and women is made so clear that none need to err, or walk in darkness. p. 171, Para. 1, [20OT].

Here is a link to a now former SDA pastor who has been convicted about the error of the trinity doctrine of the GCSDA church.

WARNING: As you read his material be aware that he is still convicted that he should retain membership in the church, in my opinion, this is totally wrong. But you must decide for yourself. You must get your Q’s answered to the extent you need in order to anchor your faith. If God is truly leading the man, he will step out separate from the GCSDA church.

BEWARE: Of how you anchor your faith. I choose the Rock of Jesus Christ, the Bible, with the Spirit of Prophecy and I keep myself within the limits prescribed by the Counsel of the true Witness to the Laodiceans. There I feel safe, there I know from hard study that God is in the work. Amen.

…. but the time for the unfolding of special truth, in relation to the closing scenes of this earth’s history, is during the last generation that shall live upon the earth. p. 171, Para. 2, [20OT].

This tells us that we can expect new light in these last days. This new light will come from “… a large company who had the living testimony  within them left the fallen churches.” p. 141, Para. 1, [GC58]. The “living testimony” is what God’s people need today. I do not know how many people such as Ernie Knoll have stood up and proclaimed to have new light for God’s people. But the fruit is on the tree. Even the pastor mentioned above should not be followed. Follow Christ.

Do not accept any into your circle, your communion, until you see truth shine out. Here on this site I point you to the Bible and strive to vindicate the authenticated Spirit of Prophecy as the voice of God to us, his people, in these last days. It is a voice of counsel and warning that I have proven to my satisfaction that I can trust, completely. I hope you will find the same anchor for your faith.

While I do betimes present some of my opinions, that is not the purpose of this site. I want to present the weight of evidence for you to decide; for you must answer before the throne for yourself.

We are only accountable for the light that shines upon us. The commandments of God and the testimony of Jesus are testing us. If faithful and obedient, God will delight in us and bless us as his own, chosen, peculiar people. When perfect faith, and perfect love and obedience, abound, working in the hearts of those who are Christ’s followers, they will have a powerful influence. Light will emanate from them, dispelling the darkness around them, refining and elevating all within the sphere of their influence, and bringing to a knowledge of the truth all who are willing to be enlightened, and follow in the humble path of obedience. p. 173, Para. 2, [20OT].

Here is our test. It is the Bible and the authenticated Spirit of Prophecy. It is my belief from my study that this is the special test for the Seventh-Day Adventist church. It is not the test for the world. The Loud Cry of the angel of Revelation 18 will be the voice of the Bible. The Spirit of Prophecy has no weight with the world. More on this later.

Many leave the plain truths of God’s word, and neglect to follow the light that shines clearly upon their pathway; but are prying into secrets not plainly revealed, and are conjecturing, and talking, and disputing, in regard to questions they are not required to understand, for they have no special reference to their salvation. Thousands have been beguiled in this way by Satan. They have neglected present faith and present duty which were clear and comprehensive to all who have their reasoning powers; and they have dwelt upon doubtful theories, and scriptures which they could not comprehend, and have erred concerning the faith. They have a mixed faith. p. 174, Para. 1, [20OT].

God would have all make a practical use of the plain teachings of his word in regard to the salvation of man. If they are doers of the word which is plain and powerful in its simplicity, they will not fail to perfect Christian character. They will be sanctified through the truth, and through humble obedience to the truth, will secure everlasting life. God wants servants that are true, not only in word, but in deed. Their fruits will show the genuineness of their faith. p. 174, Para. 2, [20OT].

Here again is the voice of instruction and warning, counseling us as to the path to take. In another place warning has most definitely been given against this very evil stated above. Please note the beautiful harmony of the two different passages, written two years apart. Error is not so.

Satan would convey the idea that by eating of the forbidden tree, they would receive a new and more noble kind of knowledge than they had hitherto attained. This has been his special work with great success ever since his fall, to lead men to pry into the secrets of the Almighty, and not to be satisfied with what God has revealed, and not careful to obey that which he has commanded. He would lead them to disobey God’s commands, and then make them believe that they are entering a wonderful field of knowledge. This is purely supposition, and a miserable deception. They fail to understand what God has revealed, and disregard his explicit commandments, and aspire after wisdom, independent of God, and seek to understand that which he has been pleased to withhold from mortals. They are elated with their ideas of progression, and charmed with their own vain philosophy; but grope in midnight darkness relative to true knowledge. They are ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. p. 36, Para. 2, [1SP].

God Bless your study and may you ever cherish the light shining on the path.

Sabbath January 30, 2010

Here is a very interesting passage taken from Testimonies No. 20, pages listed after paragraph.

I am going to highlight a few things, but withhold comment for now. You read, think about the passage and we will get together later.

God has given his word for all to investigate, that they may learn the way to life. None need to err, if they will submit to the conditions of salvation laid down in the word of God. Probation is granted for all, that all may form characters for eternal life. An opportunity will be given to all to decide for life or death. Men will be judged according to the measure of light given them. None will be accountable for their darkness and their error, if the light has not been brought to them. They have not sinned in not accepting what has not been given them. All will be tested before Jesus leaves his position in the most holy place. The probation of all closes when the pleading for sinners is ended, and the garments of vengeance are put on. p. 169, Para. 2, [20OT].

Many entertain views that probation is granted after Jesus leaves his work as mediator in the most holy apartment. This is the sophistry of Satan. God tests and proves the world by the light he is pleased to give them previous to the coming of Christ. Characters are being formed for life or death. But the probation of those who choose to live a life of sin, and neglect the great salvation offered, closes when Christ’s ministration ceases, just previous to his making his appearance in the clouds of heaven. p. 170, Para.

When they have nothing to venture, nothing to lose, by yielding obedience to Christ and the truth, they think they will take their chance for salvation. p. 170, Para. 2, [20OT].

There are some things in the Scriptures hard to be understood, and which, according to the language of Peter, the unlearned and unstable wrest unto their own destruction. We may not, in this life, be able to explain the meaning of every passage of Scripture; but there are no vital points of practical truth that will be clouded in mystery. When the time shall come, in the providence of God, for the world to be tested upon the truth for that time, minds will be exercised by the Spirit of God to search the Scriptures, even with fasting and with prayer, until link after link is searched out, uniting in a perfect chain. Every fact which immediately concerns the salvation of men and women is made so clear that none need to err, or walk in darkness. p. 171, Para. 1, [20OT].

As we have followed down the chain of prophecy, revealed truth for our time has been clearly seen and explained. We are accountable for the privileges that we enjoy, and the light that shines upon our pathway. Those who lived in past generations were accountable for the light which was permitted to shine upon them. Their minds were exercised in regard to different points of Scripture which tested them. But they did not understand the truths which we do. They were not responsible for the light which they did not have. They had the Bible, as we have; but the time for the unfolding of special truth, in relation to the closing scenes of this earth’s history, is during the last generation that shall live upon the earth. p. 171, Para. 2, [20OT].

Special truths have been adapted to the conditions of the generations as they have existed. The present truth, which is a test to the people of this generation, was not a test to the people of generations far back. if the light in regard to the Sabbath of the fourth commandment, which now shines upon us, had been given to the generations in the past, God would have held them accountable for the light. p. 172, Para. 1, [20OT].

When the temple of God was opened in Heaven, John saw, in holy vision, a class of people whose attention was arrested, and who were looking with reverential awe at the ark containing the law of God. The special test upon the fourth commandment did not come until after the temple of God was opened in Heaven. p. 172, Para. 2, [20OT].

Those who died before the light was given upon the law of God and the claims of the fourth commandment, were not guilty of the sin of violating the seventh-day Sabbath. The wisdom and mercy of God, in dispensing light and knowledge at the proper time as the people need it, is unsearchable. Previous to his coming to judge the world in righteousness, he sends forth a warning to arouse their attention to their neglect of the fourth commandment, that they may be enlightened, and may repent of their transgression of his law, and prove their allegiance to the great Lawgiver. He has made provision that all may be holy and happy if they choose. Sufficient light is given to this generation, that we may learn what our duty and privileges are, and enjoy the precious and solemn truths in their simplicity and power. p. 173, Para. 1, [20OT].

Light will emanate from them, dispelling the darkness around them, refining and elevating all within the sphere of their influence, and bringing to a knowledge of the truth all who are willing to be enlightened, and follow in the humble path of obedience. p. 173, Para. 2, [20OT].

Those who possess the carnal mind cannot comprehend the sacred force of vital truth upon which their salvation depends because they will cherish pride of heart, love of the world, love of ease, selfishness, covetousness, envy, jealousy, lust, hatred, and every evil. If they would overcome these, they might be partakers of the divine nature.

Their fruits will show the genuineness of their faith. p. 174, Para. 2, [20OT].

This from Testimony No. 11, page 45, near the top.

I saw that it was the duty of those who have received the light from Heaven, and have realized the benefit of walking in the light, to manifest a greater interest for those who are suffering for want of knowledge.

Please take some things you have learned and, call an old friend, make a new friend or just share with the friends you already have. Talk these things out.

In you quiet time with the Lord, think over the questions you have and try to discover what it is that you think might be very big anchor point for your faith. Then do everything in your power to get the answers and solidify your anchor points.

I was shattered when I was shown the original authenticated writing and it was demonstrated to me some of the gross errors in the counterfeit. Hence my study. I wanted to know. I had to know. What really was the truth? I found my answers within the beautiful harmony of the authentic writings of Ellen and the Bible.

What will it take for you?

What is the light of the Midnight Cry? Part 7 (end of parts)

Time to draw some parallels.

1.) I checked this link to find the 1844 calender just to see what the timing looked like. (An interesting side note. If you check the link you will find that sunday is the seventh day!?) We find the first week of August was a half week. Ok.

James tells us in Life Incidents, page 153, that the Exeter Camp-meeting was held in the month of August. I will assume that the camp-meeting was held in the first full week of August, 1844. That gives just 10 weeks for the Midnight Cry to complete it’s work.

2.) The Midnight Cry is like a mirror image of the Loud Cry.

This message seemed to be an addition to the third message, and joined it, as the midnight cry joined the second angel’s message in 1844. The glory of GOD rested upon the patient, waiting saints, and they fearlessly gave the last solemn warning, proclaiming the fall of Babylon, and calling upon GOD’S people to come out of her; that they might escape her fearful doom. p. 194, 1858 Great Controversy

3.) The light of the Midnight Cry was/is given so that God’s people can walk. That means taking action. That action looked like this at the Midnight Cry.

In every part of the land, light was given upon the second angel’s message, and the cry was melting down thousands. It went from city to city, and from village to village, until the waiting people of God were fully aroused. Many would not permit this message to enter the churches, and a large company who had the living testimony within them left the fallen churches. A mighty work was accomplished by the midnight cry. The message was heart-searching, and led the believers to seek a living experience for themselves. They knew that they could not lean upon one another. p. 141, Para. 1, [1SG]. 1858 Great Controversy

That action will look like this at the Loud Cry.

Go back to yesterdays post and review. In particular we will look at a few sentences from that chapter, 34, The Loud Cry, 1858 Great Controversy.

Angels were sent to aid the mighty angel from heaven….
page 194, 1858 Great Controversy.

In the next few words we can see that these angels represent other people than SDA’s. God’s Advent people are represented by the mighty angel. The same thing happened at the Midnight Cry. As the honest in heart hear the cry they will be constrained to raise the cry also. All this is in the providence of God. These not currently of our faith will be the 11th hour workers, come to join the harvest, for the same reward. Perhaps we are warned of this event, in conjunction with the parable, so we will not step out of line and cry “foul,” at the wages paid, at the instigation of Satan.

We know who these angels represent because we have followed Christ by faith into the heavenly temple, thus, the mighty angle comes from heaven. Others who are living up to all the light they have and are honest in heart, are the other angels.

It is perhaps at this point that some will reveal their true heart, and like Judas, at nearly the last hour, at the table with Christ, so consumed with themselves that they do not hear nor understand the questions at the table, “Is it I?” They make a rash denial of the light of the Midnight Cry and stumble off the path down into the wicked world below, never to return.

For the vision is true, our God is truth and it does so say, “They fell all the way along the path one after another, until we heard the voice of God like many waters, which gave us the day and hour of Jesus’ coming.” 1846 DayStar.

The light that was shed upon the waiting ones penetrated everywhere, and those who had any light in the churches, who had not heard and rejected the three messages, answered to the call, and left the fallen churches. Page 195, 1858 Great Controversy.

Here is the “shut door.” In the 1851 Christian Experience and Views, pages 24 – 27, we have a section titled, “The Open and Shut Door,” which I encourage you to read. Within this section, the very last sentence in fact, is this, “My accompanying angel bade me look for the travail of soul for sinners as used to be. I looked, but could not see it; for the time for their salvation is past.”

It appears to me that this is a major point of rash denial for many. Here is the truth. You and I are in fact created beings. We have a mother and a father, yet, it is a fact that we are created. As such, it is our responsibility to obey our Creator. Here in this material our Creator is condescending to instruct his rebellious creation. I choose to listen and learn.

We are being told that probation has closed for a certain class of people. Period. I urge you to accept that, just accept it. Now it is our duty and privilege to study and understand just what this class of people is. And we are told plainly. “… and those who had any light in the churches, who had not heard and rejected the three messages,…” There you have it.

Let’s go a step further, let’s state it differently. “Those who have had the light of the three angel’s messages and rejected that light have closed their own probation.” Right here we will state that there are many, very many with membership in the GCSDA church who have never heard the three angel’s messages. Why? Because the church leadership has rejected the light of the Midnight Cry.

The leadership of the GCSDA church declares that Ellen and others got this matter not quite right and they had to be corrected. That is partly true. But, as one told me once, “It’s a whole lie that’s a half truth.” The truth is that most, if not all Advent believers, believed that probation had closed for the world. When in fact probation had closed for those who had heard the three messages and rejected them. So the third message must go on. But there was a class of people then living in 1844 who closed their own probation, yet still lived on to have children and die a “natural” death, or live out a natural lifetime.

I saw that the testimony to the Laodiceans applied to God’s people at the present time, and the reason it has not accomplished a greater work, is because of the hardness of their hearts. But God has given the message time to do its work. The heart must be purified from sins which have so long shut Jesus out. This fearful message will do its work. When it was first presented, it led to close examination of heart. Sins were confessed, and the people of God were stirred everywhere. Nearly all believed that this message would end in the loud cry of the third angel. But as they failed to see the powerful work accomplished in a short time, many lost the effect of the message. I saw that this message would not accomplish its work in a few short months. It was designed to arouse the people of God, to discover to them their backslidings, and lead to zealous repentance, that they might be favored with the presence of Jesus, and be fitted for the loud cry of the third angel. As this message affected the heart it led to deep humility before God. Angels were sent in every direction to prepare unbelieving hearts for the truth. The cause of God began to rise, and his people were acquainted with their position. p. 223, Para. 2, [2SG].

all were to be tested on it…. page 195, 1858 Great Controversy.

We will now anchor another point about the present test of the Sabbath.

I saw that the present test on the Sabbath could not come until the mediation of Jesus in the Holy Place was finished, and he had passed within the second vail; therefore, Christians who fell asleep before the door was opened in the Most Holy, when the midnight cry was finished, at the seventh month 1844, and had not kept the true Sabbath, now rest in hope for they had not the light, and the test on the Sabbath, which we now have since that door was opened. I saw that Satan was tempting some of God’s people on this point. Because so many good Christians have fallen asleep in the triumphs of faith, and have not kept the true Sabbath, they were doubting about it being a test for us now. The enemies of the present truth have been trying to open the door of the Holy Place, that Jesus has shut, and to close the door of the Most Holy Place, which he opened in 1844, where the Ark is, containing the two tables of stone, on which are written the ten commandments, by the finger of Jehovah. p. 11, Para. 4, [CEV].

The word “all” in this case means the whole world. It could not mean just half the world. Anyone would just laugh such a claim off, and rightly so. The plan of salvation is for the whole world. The test is for the whole world. Exactly how the whole world will be tested on the Sabbath just may be different from what the GCSDA church teaches. We will be examining this subject later on.

I saw that the third message would close with power and strength far exceeding the midnight cry. Page 196, 1858 Great Controversy.

I saw the latter rain was coming as the Midnight Cry
and with ten times the power. Page 4, Spalding and Magan Collection. (link N/A)

The Midnight Cry, interestingly, was largely a local event. Much like the preaching of Noah was a local event, but the Loud Cry will be far different. Like the image in the mirror is not the real thing, so the Midnight Cry is but a shadow of the real thing, the Loud Cry.

I truly believe that if the Midnight Cry took place in about ten weeks time, and the Loud Cry is coming with ten times the power, then the Loud Cry could happen in ONE (1) WEEK! and still go to all the world to test them, every one.

I came across this just the other day. It is a tweet on Twitter.

“With Twitter coming out with location based service, with the Catholic Church wanting to connect more to social media; these R just a few reasons Y social media will grow beyond its infancy.”
Found here: http://mashable.com/2010/01/24/internet-of-tomorrow-column/

Now you can see why it is that we must get ready now, for there will be no time for character development once the Loud Cry starts. It will go forth like an explosion. The evidence will be put forth, it will be decision time for BILLIONS of people. I fully expect a lull in most other activity during this time period. Wars, plagues, famine, all will hit the “PAUSE” button.

After that week, then Satan’s powers will break “…forth with great fury to destroy, and utterly make away many.”

God has begun to draw this covering over his people, and it will soon be drawn over all who are to have a shelter in the day of slaughter. God will work in power for his people; and Satan will be permitted to work also. p. 12, Para. 5, [CEV].

What is the light of the Midnight Cry? Part 6

Just to refresh our minds, here is the 1846 The DayStar statement.

They had a bright light set up behind them at the first end of the path, which an angel told me was the Midnight Cry. This light shone all along the path and gave light for their feet so they might not stumble. And if they kept their eyes fixed on Jesus, who was just before them, leading them to the City, they were safe.

It occurs to me that we need to read this particular chapter from the 1858 Great Controversy.
So here it is.

CHAPTER XXXIV
THE LOUD CRY

I saw angels hurrying to and fro in heaven. They were descending to earth, and again ascending to heaven, preparing for the fulfillment of some important event. Then I saw another mighty angel commissioned to descend to earth, and unite his voice with the third angel, and give power and force to his message. Great power and glory were imparted to the angel, and as he descended, the earth was lightened with his glory. The light which went before and followed after this angel, penetrated everywhere, as he cried mightily, with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird. The message of the fall of Babylon, as given by the second angel, is again given, with the addition of the corruptions which have been entering the churches since 1844. The work of this angel comes in at the right time, and joins in the last great work of the third angel’s message, as it swells into a loud cry. And the people of GOD are fitted up everywhere to stand in the hour of temptation which they are soon to meet. I saw a great light resting upon them, and they united in the message, and fearlessly proclaimed with great power the third angel’s message. p. 193, Para. 2, [GC58].

Angels were sent to aid the mighty angel from heaven, and I heard voices which seemed to sound everywhere, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues; for her sins have reached unto heaven, and GOD hath remembered her iniquities. This message seemed to be an addition to the third message, and joined it, as the midnight cry joined the second angel’s message in 1844. The glory of GOD rested upon the patient, waiting saints, and they fearlessly gave the last solemn warning, proclaiming the fall of Babylon, and calling upon GOD’S people to come out of her; that they might escape her fearful doom. p. 194, Para. 1, [GC58].

The light that was shed upon the waiting ones penetrated everywhere, and those who had any light in the churches, who had not heard and rejected the three messages, answered to the call, and left the fallen churches. Many had come to years of accountability since these messages had been given, and the light shone upon them, and they were privileged to choose life or death. Some chose life, and took their stand with those looking for their LORD, and keeping all his commandments. The third message was to do its work; all were to be tested upon it, and the precious ones were to be called out from the religious bodies. A compelling power moves the honest, while the manifestation of the power of GOD holds in fear and restraint relatives and friends, and they dare not, neither have they power to, hinder those who feel the work of the Spirit of GOD upon them. The last call is carried even to the poor slaves, and the pious among them, with humble expressions, pour forth their songs of extravagant joy at the prospect of their happy deliverance, and their masters cannot check them; for a fear and astonishment keep them silent. Mighty miracles are wrought, the sick are healed, and signs and wonders follow the believers. GOD is in the work, and every saint, fearless of consequences, follows the convictions of his own conscience, and unites with those who are keeping all the commandments of GOD; and they sound abroad the third message with power.

I saw that the third message would close with power and strength far exceeding the midnight cry.

Servants of GOD, endowed with power from on high, with their faces lighted up, and shining with holy consecration, went forth fulfilling their work, and proclaiming the message from heaven. Souls that were scattered all through the religious bodies answered to the call, and the precious were hurried out of the doomed churches, as Lot was hurried out of Sodom before her destruction. GOD’S people were fitted up and strengthened by the excellent glory which fell upon them in rich abundance, preparing them to endure the hour of temptation. A multitude of voices I heard everywhere, saying, Here is the patience of the saints; here are they that keep the commandments of GOD, and the faith of JESUS. p. 196, Para. 1, [GC58].

What is the light of the Midnight Cry?
Part 5

I do hope you enjoyed reading James White’s exposition on Matthew 25. It makes so much sense and is a perfect fit, the parable of the virgins and the Midnight Cry experience.

Here is the description from the 1858 Great Controversy of the Midnight Cry.

CHAPTER XXIV.
The Second Angel’s Message.

The churches would not receive the light of the first angel’s message, and as they rejected the light from heaven they fell from the favor of God. They trusted in their own strength, and placed themselves by their opposition to the first message where they could not see the light of the second angel’s message. But the beloved of God, who were oppressed, answered to the message, Babylon is fallen, and left the fallen churches. p. 140, Para. 1, [1SG].

Near the close of the second angel’s message, I saw a great light from heaven shining upon the people of God. The rays of this light seemed bright as the sun. And I heard the voices of angels crying, Behold the Bridegroom cometh, go ye out to meet him! p. 140, Para. 2, [1SG].

The midnight cry was given to give power to the second angel’s message. Angels were sent from heaven to wake up the discouraged saints, and prepare them for the great work before them. The most talented men were not the first to receive this message. Angels were sent to the humble, devoted ones, and constrained them to raise the cry, Behold the Bridegroom cometh, go ye out to meet him. Those entrusted with the cry made haste, and in the power of the Holy Spirit spread the cry, and aroused their discouraged brethren. This cry did not stand in the wisdom and learning of men, but in the power of God, and his saints who heard the cry could not resist it. The most spiritual received this message first, and those who had formerly led in the work were the last to receive and help swell the cry, Behold the Bridegroom cometh, go ye out to meet him. p. 140, Para. 3, [1SG].

They knew that they could not lean upon one another. p. 141, Para. 1, [1SG].

The saints anxiously waited for their Lord with fasting, watching and almost constant prayer. Even some sinners looked forward to the time with terror, while the great mass seemed to be stirred against this message, and manifested the spirit of Satan. They mocked and scoffed, and everywhere was heard, No man knoweth the day and the hour. Evil angels exulted around them, urging them on to harden their hearts, and to reject every ray of light from heaven, that they might fasten them in the snare. Many professed to be looking for their Lord, who had neither part nor lot in the matter. The glory of God they had witnessed, the humility and deep devotion of the waiting ones, and the overwhelming weight of evidence, caused them to profess to receive the truth. But they were not converted. They were not ready. A spirit of solemn and earnest prayer was everywhere felt by the saints. A holy solemnity was resting upon them. Angels with the deepest interest had watched the result, and were elevating those who received the heavenly message, and were drawing them from earthly things to obtain large supplies from salvation’s fountain. God’s people were then accepted with him. Jesus looked upon them with pleasure. His image was reflected in them. They had made a full sacrifice, an entire consecration, and expected to be changed to immortality. But they were destined to be again sadly disappointed. The time to which they looked, expecting deliverance, passed. They were still upon the earth, and the effects of the curse never seemed more visible. They had placed their affections on heaven, and in sweet anticipation, had tasted immortal deliverance; but their hopes were not realized. p. 141, Para. 2, [1SG].

The fear that had rested upon many of the people did not at once disappear. They did not immediately triumph over the disappointed ones. But as no visible wrath of God was felt by them, they recovered from the fear they had felt, and commenced their ridicule, their mocking, and scoffing. The people of God were again proved, and tested. The world laughed, and mocked, and reproached them; and those who had believed without a doubt that Jesus would then come and raise the dead, and change the living saints, and take the kingdom, and possess it forever, felt like the disciples of Christ.–They have taken away my Lord, and I know not where they have laid him. p. 143, Para. 1, [1SG].

Am I getting ready for the second coming? Do I really believe?

What is the light of the Midnight Cry? Part 4

That read by James White is really good, isn’t it? Now look at the WIDE difference between what James wrote and the book Christ Object Lessons. That book, published under Ellen’s name, actually fulfills the quote from our excerpt of James’ exposition of Matthew 25.

Let’s look at it again.

Those who have given up the past Advent movement, as the work of man only, or of unclean spirits, choose to apply the parable to the future, to be fulfilled at the coming of the Lord. p. 3, Para. 1, [MATT25].

Let’s review some points here.

1.) The General Conference Seventh-Day Adventist church is in a state of apostasy.

2.) The GCSDA church are responsible for perpetrating the lie of the counterfeit; namely that Ellen wrote much material, which, we prove on this site, she did not write.

3.) The GCSDA church defines the term “inspiration” in a highly critical and humanistic manner, thus giving prima facie evidence to the world that they “have given up the past Advent movement, as the work of man only.”

4.) This denial has burst open the floodgates for every specie of departure from the will of God as plainly expressed in the Testimonies for the Church.

5.) The Midnight Cry is tightly interwoven with the three angel’s messages. It is a major connecting link between the first angel’s message and the second angel’s message.

6.) The major factor about the Midnight Cry is the proof given to God’s people of the last days, ever how long those days may last, through first hand accounts, that God was in the work. That his Spirit was moving throughout the land. That the Midnight Cry was not the work of man.

7.) The GCSDA church has no living faith in the speedy coming of Christ. Having forsaken the anchor,* that holds fast, they are drifting with the tide, and will finally end on the rocks of hell.

*Now about that anchor. We have here some most precious words from the 1858 Great Controversy, page 165-166. I urge you to be sure you have a copy. You will come to see that this book is one of the most precious books in your collection.

Again, I will state for the record, I believe that Ellen was a faithful prophet of God. I place her authenticated writings with the Bible. I believe there is enough evidence to clearly prove that the Testimonies for the Church are not an option for God’s people. Those who use only the Bible in these last days, being fully aware of the authenticated Testimonies, are exposing themselves to the snares of Satan, to be finally led captive at his will.

Here now are these most precious words.

Many who embraced the third message had not an experience in the two former messages.
Satan understood this, and his evil eye was upon them to overthrow them; but the third angel was pointing them to the Most Holy place, and those who had an experience in the past messages were pointing them the way to the heavenly Sanctuary. Many saw the perfect chain of truth in the angels’ messages, and gladly received it. They embraced them in their order, and followed JESUS by faith into the heavenly Sanctuary. These messages were represented to me as an anchor to hold the body. And as individuals receive and understand them, they are shielded against the many delusions of Satan. p. 165.

After the great disappointment in 1844, Satan and his angels were busily engaged in laying snares to unsettle the faith of the body. He was affecting the minds of individuals who had a personal experience in these things. They had an appearance of humility. They changed the first and second messages, and pointed to the future for their fulfillment, while others pointed far back in the past, declaring that they had been there fulfilled. These individuals were drawing the minds of the inexperienced away, and unsettling their faith. Some were searching the Bible to try to build up a faith of their own, independent of the body. Satan exulted in all this; for he knew that those who broke loose from the anchor, he could affect by different errors and drive about with winds of doctrine. p. 166

And that, of course, is a perfect description of the GCSDA church as it is at this day.

What is the light of the Midnight Cry? Part 3

Here is your reading assignment. Download this article by James White. Below is an excerpt with comment.

It is my belief that God gifted James to be the perfect counterpart to Ellen. She had the dreams and visions, James had the ability to demonstrate the truth with Bible texts only. It was a marriage made in heaven. Today we get to reap the benefits of their work.

I believe the correct understanding of the parable of Matthew 25 is important to a clear, well rounded understanding of the Midnight Cry. You will enjoy reading this material by James, it is beautiful.

Here is the excerpt.

Those who have given up the past Advent movement, as the work of man only, or of unclean spirits, choose to apply the parable to the future, to be fulfilled at the coming of the Lord.
But if they would only carry out the natural and true position taken of it by Bro. Miller and the entire Advent host, with hardly an exception, up to 1845, it would lead them to acknowledge the work of God in the past, it would show them their present whereabouts, and give them living faith in the speedy coming of Christ. No one has yet shown how the events, represented by trimming lamps, asking for oil, going to buy, and the knocking of the foolish could be fulfilled at, and after the Second Advent. The cry, “Behold the bridegroom cometh,” is made to apply by all classes of Advent believers, then why not let each part of the parable also apply? We ask, Why should the cry, this one point in the parable, be made to cover all time to the resurrection, and the other parts not be suffered to have any application? Consistency becomes us on this subject, as well as on others. — Some seem to make every thing of the cry, “Behold the bridegroom cometh,” but nothing of the other parts of the parable. By referring to the “Advent Herald” it will be seen that it is the editor’s motto. If he is to give this cry till the coming of Christ, and the resurrection, then the other points in the parable that follow must apply after the Second Advent. But we do not hesitate to say that they will not then apply. No one will attempt to apply each event there. p. 3, Para. 1, [MATT25].

In my opinion, they deny the light of the Midnight Cry, in part, because of the statement in the 1858 Great Controversy, page 142.

God’s people were then accepted with him. Jesus looked upon them with pleasure. His image was reflected in them.

What this statement says is that God’s people at that time were “perfect.” The GCSDA church does not believe in perfection of character on this earth. They do not want to accept that some people were in a state of perfection at that time.
